When you hear other versions of this song you realize how special Jennifer's voice is, she has an unmatched ,magical quality.
There are exceptions but in the majority of cases the original version is best. In this case there is no question. Most soul, most authenticity, most respect for the unadorned and beautiful shape of the melody. Jennifer nailed it.
Just listen to Helene Fischer and I am torn. I love them both. Nobody even comes close to either one.

I just discovered this. I've been accustomed to Celine's version for as long as I can remember, but this somehow struck a deeper dimension of feeling. While Celine's version is undeniably majestic, the depth that this one has gives it a more enigmatic yet human quality.
The Power of Love is incredible. There is not a man alive who would not fall in love with such a woman this song describes. A man hopes for such a woman in his life.
Jennifer Rush truly owned this song and this is still the ultimate classic performance, sorry Celine.

Had a chance to go to The Royal Toronto Conservatory after my last recital from a lady who wanted to pay for a good portion of the cost but our family was flat poor like in happy to have food and shelter. Thanks to help from my daughter and my wife working to make ends meet they got me a Yamaha WC88 stage piano as they understood my passion for music. My wife and I are same age and I have stage 4 COPD and heart issues so getting a part time job is a real hurdle for me but still looking. I’m sure not complaining as I got sole custody of my kids when they were 5 and 10 both doing extremely well and now have great families that help us both in many many ways so God has really blessed me. I try to encourage others to follow their passion and never give up in times of trial. If I help only one person on this walk of life succeed in their passion or lift their spirits and faith then I consider my life a success. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Totally agree. When the Dion cover came out, I could take it or leave it; take it mostly, to be fair. But the original just has a more ethereal sound to it, it’s all the synth and heavier sounding percussion that gives it more depth. Rush’s voice lends well to the instruments, too.
