Steve this is my favorite lesson now it took me over an hour to get through this because I couldn't stop finding patterns of my own just following the scale degree I'm gonna send you the link when I upload it thank you for the time you spend on these videos and when can I expect mountains touring the states
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock Not that it really matters because I'm just some guy on the internet but I have en education degree (elementary school french teacher) and your lesson is pedagogical perfection. I've taught myself (with youtube of course) how to play 5 instruments over the last 5 years and this is the most well put together tutorial I' ve seen by far. Having the tabs and musical notation for each section is great. Actually including a single page where they are all together and in an order that actually makes sense is genius. Cheers friend
I try this new tuning. Since I discovered a new beautifull world. If you've got anothers chords it will be nice ! Thanks from France, and keep going dude, yours videos are awesome !
I actually really like math rock. I don’t listen to it but I love it and have fun playing it. It has a really cool sound. Just not something I would listen to often
amazing stuff dude. Appreciate your videos and the book is great. QQUEESTIIION. I'm trying to figure out, in the F tuning, what's the rule of thumb for what keys fit where? So example, in the F tuning no capo, I assume the keys you'd stay in are F major and C major. If you want to play in A you'd want to capo 4 (based on the E string). Is that your methodology here? Or am I missing anything?
this videos old so you may not reply, but can you do more in depth tapping tutorials and by more i mean more in volume, you explain incredibly and i learned more from you and marcos this year than i have learned anything my whole life
Sure. He uses DAEAC#E tuning. I have a few videos where I use this tuning, I even covered one of his riffs! ruclips.net/video/MtOhZ5MYM-k/видео.html ruclips.net/video/5_u7pIDWp94/видео.html
I'm not him but I think any string would work to be honest, there's no real risk of breaking a string during tuning since the notes aren't too far apart, personally I use some thick ernie ball strings on my jazzmaster.
If you don't mind another random guy answering, my humble opinion is that the bass player probably wouldn't "need" to change tuning, as long as he knows what scales/chords the guitar plays. This is because usually the bass will not play many notes simultaneously and wouldn't benefit much from the open string's tuning. But you know, do whataver sounds good to you!
Thanks for watching! Check out the FACGCE Super System to learn more: bit.ly/4dAePlI
Explanation is on top, showing the chords along side while also explaining them in a througly manner, just perfect.

B minor 69+11 the ultimate chord
Haha! Should be written as Bm69add11 but that wouldn't fit in the space
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock yeah Bm69augmented11 is my favourite chord

Ever tried FGCEAD tuning? Sounds like a close variation to FACGCE, would be cool to know how that one works (Ichika just made a video with it).
Thank you so much!
Could you do more videos in this tuning soon, I’m really trying to learn a lot abt it and I can’t find anything else abt it
Hearing tune b up, made me have flashbacks of many strings breaking
What kind of telecaster is that? I've seen a bunch of your videos and it's so nice!!

Hello, great video, will use this chords!
What strings you use in this video?
Awesome stuff! Glad to hear it. I'm using 9 gauge but I think I'll change to 10s soon.
very cool! helped me a lot, i just started experimenting with this tuning
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching.
Youre the fuckin man steve! Thanks again for another awesome video!
Hey steve. What kind of strings would you recommed this kind of tuning. I hope you'll reply😊
I'm not him but I think any string would work to be honest, there's no real risk of breaking a string during tuning since the notes aren't too far apart, personally I use some thick ernie ball strings on my jazzmaster.
So, what would the baritone version of this tuning be?

Cheers!
Top 🎼✌️🙂
Hey, quick question about this stuff. Let's say I'm writing music with this tuning, what tuning should the bass be in?
If you don't mind another random guy answering, my humble opinion is that the bass player probably wouldn't "need" to change tuning, as long as he knows what scales/chords the guitar plays. This is because usually the bass will not play many notes simultaneously and wouldn't benefit much from the open string's tuning. But you know, do whataver sounds good to you!
How did you get that chords shapes?theres another shapes?
Hello friend! What string gauge do you use for tapping? I find it hard to get volume out of my high E string, using extra slinky.
Joel Stoecklin he uses 9 gauge
What is that kind of strumming called? 1:29
do you NEED the capo?
What's the song on the end credits?
Number 1: F major 9
Honestly I just come here for Steve to hope I'm doing well smh
Do u need a capo??
whats the ending song?
This one mountainssk.bandcamp.com/track/future-2
Thanks :)
whats the weird black tele looking thing hanging on the wall?
Peavy Generation EXP. A beginners guitar, I've had it since I was 15, I think. :)
i dont understand why you retune just to throw a capo on? doesnt that defeat the point? as soon as i capo, my tuner says my strings are way off
Changes the open tuning into a Amaj9 instead of a Fmaj7
@bruah4364 why not just tune it in the first place to that then?
bm69 hehehe
I have never heard anyone call a capo a “cappo” before…
Fabulous Killjoy that’s how it’s pronounced in British English. Everyone here calls it that
We speak the queens English son, that's how its pronounced!
1st
So if I tune to FACGCE, and then put a capo on, do I have to retune ?
Hey called the capo a capo
Makes a change from some daft "Muricain" calling it a "Kaaypoe".
I never knew Tyler DeWitt was also a guitarist
2:41
"bit of a tongue twister" i really hope this joke was intentional.
Are these supposed to be barre chords or something? Genuinely seems impossible to get your fingers in the right spot
