All rock drummers, not really good at all. If you wanna complain about the names in this list you should mention drummers like Gadd, Weckl and Colaiuta. Bonzo, Moon and Peart are drummers for nostalgic people, but as drummers Richardson, Lang an Garstka (Portnoy is kind of showoff like "look how much tempos I can change without any elegance) are much better. Period.

How can you possibly forget the Greatest Of All Time himself, Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe?! That man is a legend! His solos and his show will blow your mind! He deserves to be #1 because he is that epic, and after you watch even one video of him you will never forget it! Tommy Lee has surely been an inspiration for many great drummers everywhere.
In fact, he is so great, that there should be an entire video dedicated to his Top 10 best drum solos of all time, but I know why there isn't. It's because it is impossible to choose between all of Mr. Lee's legendary performances.
Nevertheless, he deserves to be included (preferably at #1) on this list. No offense to the other drummers because they are all great, but none of them can touch the talent that is Mr. Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe!!!

I think this what Solos are now ? To me Buddy Rich did a Solo..I like watching this & appreciate the skill..not where I go to hear a Solo though.. as you so perfectly described...& what are really Solos today seem way to machinelike & technical..sort of too perfect.

Ian Paice . Deep Purple. Concerto for group and orchestra (live, 1969) composed by Jon Lord. 3rd Movement, solo.
Ian Paice Deep Purple . Made in Japan (live, 1972) The Mule, solo. Both solos entertain the crowd with their energy and invention. Never a dull moment. Few play a snare better than Ian Paice IMO.

IMO, What makes a good drummer? In a room filled with all the best drummers in the world, the best one is whomever can play the living hell out of whatever style they play in, and then turn around and do the same thing in the unique and widely differing styles every other drummer in the room plays in. I wholly agree with most of the names I've seen on the honorable mentions list, and since I haven't yet seen anyone mention them I'd like to submit Carter Beauford and Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan as well.

I don't respect double bass pedals. It creates lazy replica sounding drummers. It's 10 times harder to keep a good groovy rhythm fluxing in and out the pocket and make the one kicker sound like a double, with one. Mad respect for the drummers who still keep it real.

pretty funny. I guess u should have said greatest in the 2000's? Its not about how many drums or cymbals you have, its about technical prowess and speed. Lets see....Buddy Rich, Louis Bellson, Billy Cobham, Carmine Appice....couple of jazz and a couple of rock........look them up, then change your list
