    Hello from Costa Rica, I had one of these back in 2018 and i can agree with the video. This bike is great for stuff like going to work, school or just getting around. It is pretty affordable when compared to its bigger brother the XR250 Tornado. Great spec out of factory, but one of the things i didnt like was the wheele sizes, way too small.

    2:27 in my country fitters found out that Honda´s Hornet 600 rear shock absorber fits perfectly into the xr 150 rear suspension. This one is adjustable. I substituted it myself and it worked pretty fine becoming a little harder of course. (don´t know the exact production year but scanning through the different hornet 600 models will help you find it, in case it interests you).

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 9 месяцев назад +3

      My neighbor just bought one of these. It's not just the cheap chain adjusters, it's also the cheap XR100 swing arm from the '80's, cheap XR100 shifter also from the '80's, very weak steel wheels, again from the '80's, and really terrible looking welds on the frame. I may have missed a few things, but overall it's pretty poor if you plan to use it off-road. But for in town street use it's a nice bike, just very slow on acceleration. All of the dirt-only trail bikes of 125cc will easily out-accelerate it (but not beat it for top speed of course due to the gearing).

    Great Video. I always enjoy ur uploads, major fan. Sharing my non-important opinion/ my experience... I think the xr150 should've kept on being the brazilian "NXR Bros" looked much better, feels snappier, lighter, has a modding community, and a few other yickles. This bike was essentially what came before this design/model showcased in the vid. However, its nice to add that the reliability on these has been and still is such a blessing. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, totally recommended, specially when you're just trying to commute. Extra thing I wanna share is that, yes the suspension is too short so a, f.e: CR85, KX100, shock and fork upgrade is a major mod, one which I think at least leaves the bike worthy of off roading as well as wheels as they're 19f-17r stock I believe.

    Mine in the Philippines is 16 months old 16200 km odo.
    Have many defects since I brought it out from the Honda shop. Fortunatelly the complete ignition system changed for free under warranty but it took 1 year step by step. First ignition switch than ignition assembly with the tank cap and keys than ignition relay.
    All the body panels and signal lights are in a different angle (even one of the hand grip and foot peg is defected), different gaps and cannot fix it since for example the iron clips on the tank welded assimetric... Each body panel already scratched when I bought it as a brand new bike. I keep it in a covered place always maintain but already heavy rust on the frame (the paint peeling off, underneath is rust) and once again already had rust on the bike when I get it from the dealer as a brand new... No quality control for these bikes thats why many has defects. Need luck to get a better one.
    But luckily I have no oil consumption. Changing oil in every 1000-1300 km. I am 200 cm (6.7 tall) and 105 kg plus my wife. Always push it hard. Half highway half rural mountain roads (rocky, muddy, sandy).
    Still the factory tyres.
    If they assembly properly with a bit care it would be a great bike. For my height nothing else on the filipino market. Even this is too low but at least less back and neck pain.
    Asian version made in China.
    The parts under warranty 2 came from China as well, 1 came from Indonesia.

    • @MrCrackbear
      @MrCrackbear 9 месяцев назад +1

      probably because it's available right now brand new for relatively cheap. if you can get a used 250 in good condition, do it. I got a 2017 CRF250L for $4000 back in june and I love riding it. top speed is 75-80 mph and I get 75mpg if I'm not revving it out. revving it out the bike gets more around 60mpg. the stock seat kinda sucks after more than an hour of riding, but with the seat concepts seat I can ride for at least 2 hours before getting uncomfortable. be aware that in 2017 they updated the bike and gave it a bigger throttle body, so the 2012-2016 models are kinda underpowered.

  • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771
    @tireballastserviceofflorid7771 9 месяцев назад +2

    Well I'm not saying what the exact problem is. But here is a thought. US emissions standards on off road bikes are under heavy attack. Wright or wrong I'm not saying. When you lean a bike out as much as they are to get a clean pipe that is incredibly hard on the engine. Allowing some oil to bleed by the rings and or valves will alow a leaner burn. It was a racers trick back in the 70s. Under size the oil ring a little to offset for alcohol or nitro washing down the cylinder walls. Be interesting to know why exactly it's losing oil.

    • @martin-vv9lf
      @martin-vv9lf 9 месяцев назад +1

      so how do you fix it, without swapping out the oil ring? run a thicker oil?

    • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771
      @tireballastserviceofflorid7771 9 месяцев назад

      @martin-vv9lf A thicker oil might help, but if it's designed to burn oil that would be what keeps the engine alive. One way would be to pull the top end down and check the ring gaps. The piston gap. Also check the valve stem clearance when it's down. Another possibility but highly unlikely. Would be a blockage keeping oil in the valve cover flooding the valve instead of draining down. An airfilter with excessive filter oil on it will cause high vacuum and extra oil burn. Only a few things could cause it, but it should be traceable.

    I don't really get who this bike for. I mean for the same or less money you can get a Chinese bike which at least would have better suspension and it is unlikely that any bike in this category/at this price point will see many miles for engine longevity to be a factor.. just saying.

      I imagine that someone like me is the target demographic, a dirt biker who is a huge Honda fan. I'd love to shred my dirt hike all over the single track and around town, but I can't, so this is the next best thing. Thing is, I can see what a POS it is. Super poor build quality, consumes oil like crazy, mostly made of poor quality parts from China. Can't believe we're talking about a Honda here, used to be if you owned one you had a bike that would last your life with little to no issues. How the times have changed.

    My crf 150f burned oil it's whole life. So will a xr 100, trx 400, or 230 . 80 or 50. Air cooled engines typically will. About a quart every 6-8 weeks of daily riding. Just so you know. Hondas tend to burn a little more I think because of better air cooled gas chambers. 😂 always low like a tractor.

      I have a video where I measured oil consumption on my CRF230F. It used 50ml over 1000 miles. Measurable but not anywhere near what this 150 loses. I have to add oil every other day of commuting on the 150. It's outside the norm without a doubt

    • @Dogslikedda1820
      @Dogslikedda1820 9 месяцев назад

      @TortureTestMagazine Well the 150 does no doubt it mostly ends up in the airbox I believe but a bulletproof engine at the end of the day. It is excessive on the 150, mine always was. If I can remember correctly the crankcase breather tube drips oil when parked. But it definetly would seem like it was being burnt constantly and used to worry me. But never was the top end nor did my 2006 crf ever smoke until (stolen) in 2015, rode it into the ground it was indestructable. I think after longer years of its use it started to build up in the crankcase vent tube and noticeably drip or drain. But out of the crate I think it was between oil changes 2500 mi it would be low almost off the dipstick really low and required early services. Almost too often it was like changing fresh oil it seemed. Caught onto this rather quickly. I think I ended up removing the nipple at the bottom of the vent tube 😅 so it didn't have backpressure and create excessive amounts to push out anymore oil. It just has high crankcase pressure if I'm right still.

      And it's a Honda of course it has a fancy flap 😄 I think it had 2 piece connector to a separate hose with a rubber flap. And removing required relocation but check for oil in the airbox and give it a twice over it should be able to breathe freely after this.

      Valid opinion, but my disappointment also lies with how it was supposed to come with a preload adjustment, according to Honda's website, but it didn't. Just my opinion but I'm not happy about being told the bike will have this feature just to receive the bike and not have the feature
