      Desiring God I guess you’re young. If you’ve ever listened to his 5 decades of sermons Pastor Graham was spot on. He is is heaven now with his Lord and you will be judged for causing people to resent him. If you’re a pastor than just preach the word.it is not yours to criticize the deceased.

      @Jazmine Goss Yeah he definitely did make that statement. I've watched it several times. You'll find it easy enough if you do a RUclips search. I believe it was a TV interview. This is common knowledge, and not even debated. He also wrote it in a published article. Sadly, he never retracted this disturbing claim, even when given the opportunity to do so.

    It seems many people have this idea that if God is using someone, then everything they're doing must be right and acceptable before God. That is simply not true. Yes, God uses us in spite of our failures to be as faithful to His Word as we should be, but that doesn't excuse those failures. In addition to being unequally yoked with unbelievers, Billy Graham also was double-minded with the fact that there is no other way to heaven but Jesus. He preached that truth, but elsewhere denied it. I'm not saying we should consign him to the eternal flames, but learn from what he did right AND from what he did wrong, often very wrong.

      judith, Well, as fallen sinners, we really ALL have a faith problem to one degree or another. The prayer "I believe; help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24) should be the prayer of every Christian. I am confident that Graham believed the Gospel in spite of his failure to clearly or accurately articulate it many times.
      For instance, when Larry King asked him about the "sincere" Jews, Buddhists, etc., Graham said he's going to let God judge that. Well, of course God is the judge, but He has also clearly revealed the truth that "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him" (John 3:36), and THAT should have been his answer.

      I have two friends, one said he was led to Christ listening to Benny Hinn, and the other was by a woman preacher. Yes, God works through many different means, but that doesn't mean the source we receive the hearing from is preaching from a Biblically authenticated platform. God is incredible, in every way, and He overcomes the ignorance of man as He wishes.

    I never heard Billy Graham make a statement in a sermon that was not scripturally sound. Late in life he did give an interview in which he said that Jesus was not necessarily the only way to heaven. I would attribute that to age-related cognitive decline.

      I agree, evolution is not biblical, but I’ve read the statement you are referring to, and I would ask, does it really make him less credible? Does it mean he is not a brother in Christ?
      I have never met a perfect teacher, everyone yes everyone disagrees on certain points. But I know of a perfect teacher, Jesus, and Billy led more people to him than I could dream of. Unless you can name someone else in this day and age who teach a perfect doctrine? Would love to meet this person

    • @tmo4330
      @tmo4330 2 года назад

      @@kraezd1 Yes, it makes him less creditable. But no, it does not mean he wasn't saved, evidently there are many "Christians" who do not believe in the creation and flood accounts. Nor do they believe birds were created before land animals or that death entered the world through sin and sin by Adam, or the serpent looks different in its curse/fallen form than it used to, or that Eve is the mother of all living, or that early man lived 900 years, or it never rained before the flood, or that the flood was world wide, or giants living in the earth before the flood, or there was one world language. Peter warned us in second Peter chapter 3 that there will come scoffers in the last days that no longer believe in the creation and flood accounts. Those people are willingly ignorant. I would have loved to have met Billy and talked with him for a day. I would have had many other questions to ask him. But THE WORLD SPOKE WELL OF HIM. So who am I? I am lowly humble servant. I have many flaws. I pray that I can serve others and that I will not have delusion or be deceived. I also believe Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. All muslims DENY that God has a Son. I am not about to say muslins are saved if they turn to the only "light" they have. And they will be in heaven with us even if they don't know who Jesus is. I can't straddle the fence on some things. There is a bottom line.

      It makes me sad when people who call themselves Christians just love throwing stones and they have the strong vision in seeing the specks in other people's eye. Leaders, ministers, preachers that have great influence have more temptations and some have withstand, some have fought well. We couldn't really know how much they could have struggled and faltered especially if we have no personal connection with them. We only see and hear them on pulpits, videos, on their books. But instead of calling some preachers devils (if they have beliefs we do not personally agree) why not pray for them? Let us ask God to judge them, enlighten then and save them. If they will be saved, then God can use them more (look at the example of Paul). I believe that prayer have more power in exposing and rebuking false teachers because it's better for them to fall in the hands of our Holy God than in our hands. :)

For someone to say he didn't believe what he preached is absolutely absurd. The number of people who will be in heaven because of his total dedication to God's call on his life is unbelievable. @@atikulhuq9601 Hello, well, my friend, we lift every member of your family up to the Lord and ask Him to make His Identity as Savior of the world, in accordance with the angel’s proclamation to the shepherds in Luke 2, that He suffered and died for our sins, something no one but Him was qualified to do.
      In that marvelous light, let me recommend a small book on the evidence for Christ called “More Than a Carpenter” by Josh McDowell. Having solid evidence in your hands is an excellent way to approach anyone you love, for the apostle Paul said, “to every man an answer,” cf, I Peter 3:14-16.
      Know what you believe and why, that you may be a trustworthy vessel to carry the hope that lies within us.
      There is no need to push it on anyone, for you can wait and keep praying, that God will give you the right opportunity at the right time ✨

    When he describes fundamentalists it reminds me of the Pharisees in Jesus day. When he described Madison Square Garden and the liberals, which I do not know if they are also lost, reminds me of many stories of Jesus teaching. Jesus did not come to save the saved, but the lost just as Billy Graham strived to do.

SCRIPTURE: TITUS 3:1-11 (note v 9 particularly) "Remind them to ... be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. 3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. 4 But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. When I was 17 I was miserable. I had been dumped in a college that had nothing I wanted since I had been given a scholarship I didn't even apply for. The alternative was Viet Nam. To top it off, my roommate was a homosexual although he never tried anything with me. However there was a man named Don in my dorm who was filled with joy and wanted to help eveybody who was a strong Christian. I came from a family of 200 years of Masonic witchcraft on one side and an agnostic on the other. I knew nothing about God. When Don told me that he did not plan to have sex until he got married because it would damage his "anointing", I was like the lady in the restaurant in When Harry Met Sally: "I'll have what he's having". I would have stood on my head in the corner for three weeks if that was what it took to find Christ.
    But Don made the mistake of turning me over to the preachers. He took me to a Campus Crusade for Christ meeting. At the time they preached Billy Graham's "accept Christ" doctrine (although I have heard that they have in recent years become Pentecostal, thankfully). The problem is that that was all they preached, so I did it. They did not preach repentance so I never stopped sinning. I would have if they had told me. Don kept getting stronger while I could not overcome sin (since I was still a sinner), I came to view God as a respecter of persons because of the alleged differential treatment between us. I became an enemy of God (or rather continued as one) and it took 5 years before God set things up that I heard the true gospel and responded.
    His "accept Christ" doctrine should appear ludicrous to anyone who thinks. If God is God, shouldn't it be God who accepts you? The doctrine keeps you on the throne and it basically is an offer to negotiate with God. The problem is that, since He died for you, he has nothing to counteroffer with. It is a presumptuous pseudo-gospel. Statistics prove it. Graham's staff readily admits that only 3-4% of the people who come to his altars ever settle into a church. By contrast, I later became a Pentecostal preacher and most all our people stayed. That is because the Pentecostal experience is the entrance of the full Spirit of God. God is holy and won't enter an unclean vessel, so only a thorough sorrow for sin and an utter turning from it gets you through the turnstile. The accept Christ doctrine provides a fig leaf to millions of so-called Christians. It is magnified by its frequent association with Calvinistic groups who preach "once saved always saved", which lets presumption quench any remaining spiritual hunger. I almost went to hell because of Billy Graham. Yeah, that's a controversial ministry all right.

    • @lwdcourt
      @lwdcourt 3 года назад +5

      Great testimony, and I agree with most but strongly disagree with the conclusions. You didn't almost go to hell. Your journey was the journey God ordained, weak non-salvation doctrine and all. You can never know how the failing gospel you were sold prepared you for the real gospel you finally found. Clearly it's to nobody's credit that they failed to give you the true gospel but even if only 1% of Graham's converts settled in church it's still many souls who found salvation. I'm not sure we're in a position to judge Graham although we clearly must assess his messages so as to not repeat his errors.

    • @GG-wi2ij
      @GG-wi2ij 2 года назад +4

      I believe I have repented of of my sin and trusting in myself. Yet I have struggled with sin for years. Sin doesn't go away. We are being sanctified... its a process that we can see in various forms. It's the unrepentant practice of sin that I would call "continuing to sin" yet believing you are a Christian... thats where the line is drawn. A turned heart that has the spirit of christ will never be ok to keep in sinning or the struggle with sin. The power to get stronger in a more noticeable way comes from abiding in christ, discipleship, studying and mediating on scripture, praying, fellowship.... basically to walk in the spirit.
      I always wondered why my testimony wasn't like that guy in your dorm or other people like that who have this huge transformation and go on through their life very strong... and because of that, I always wondered if I was actually saved. ... long story short, everyone's story is different and we have the choice of living with us on the throne or god...when one doesn't even care that they serve themselves.... thats when I'd be worried.

      Some people call it having an encounter with christ. Not specifically salvation but more of a close encounter.
      But even since billie graham the entire church is gained revelation of the important of more than one prayer of repentance. Or rather the importance of encouraging full discipleship rather than just a sinners prayer.
      That wasn't obvious to the larger church when Billy Graham first began preaching.

I join Jesus' prayer in John 17:20 , "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me."

    I do not understand why at the time of Billy Graham's death, you are criticizing a ministry that has been such a movement for Christ. Billy Graham was a welcoming and kind individual. It is easy to criticize and look down on some one for their faults. It is important to focus on the good and appreciate some one especially during the time of their passing. Let's remember that no one is perfect. Billy Graham remains the most influential and recognizable Christian of the 20th century. We should appreciate and pray that God will raise up more men like Billy Graham who was a humble servant and proclaimer of the gospel. May we be grateful and respectful for his life's work and testimony to the world.

Unless you acknowledge you are a sinner it will be hard to realize you need a savior. These preachers who preach a prosperity gospel are leading members down the wrong path. Joel as stated publicly that he wants to make people feel good so he leaves the hard preaching about hell, sin, etc. to others who were called to do that. ULYSSES TOCHE Hi! Thank you for your response. I checked the verses, and from what I've gathered, I don't think the verses mean that you should keep away from them physically at all times. Plus, as a preacher, was Billy Graham able to divide who are true believers and not? That's implying that someone would have had to check prior to the events to see that every individual attending a sermon is of "true faith," which is not possible for any human being. So why blame him or the people at a gathering of his preachings?
      The verses are teaching to us, as followers, to be on guard so as not to absorb false doctrines and ideologies of the anti-Christ. Preaching to as many people as possible, I believe, was more of an act of sowing seeds (Luke 8).
      Now, I am not so familiar with all of Billy Graham's sermons, so there may have been some ideas that weren't of the Holy Spirit and that I am not aware of them. However, I can't really see what the point of this video is. I am open to corrections. May God continually bless your kindness throughout your journey in life!

      And this Fruit, first of all, Is of the Holy Spirit, God Himself, Who Lives inside of every true believer and follower of Christ, His teachings-Gospel, Word, living example etc.
      Which is the very work of God in And through us.

      @@MsButterfly1179 Thanks for your reply but you missed the point.
      Nowhere in the bible is it said or inferred that we should judge if a man is Godly or not.
      When you read scripture you have to understand the context and the audience. Thus Mt 7:16 is specifically about prophets, John 15 is about instruction to us not judging others and John 6 is pretty irrelevant.
      Therefore, I stand by and repeat my response that the bible does not tell us judge the godliness or other men and we have no measure to do so. That said, we do have to test what they say. Think also of this, how much sin or how much error can a "godly" man commit before they can no longer be considered godly? ..but before you think about that ask why you feel called to think about it in order to make a decision upon it.

    It is clear, this is what Billy Graham did. Hebrews 6: 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. No-one is saved by filling out a Card. Was no-one saved at the Crusades? The word of God is Powerful. Philippians 1:18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

    • @donpetty7584
      @donpetty7584 5 месяцев назад

      No one is saved by filling out a card? Is that what some believe about the Graham crusades? Really?
      Here is what took place at the crusades. I know because I had friends that were counselors, Navigators. Graham partnered with Dawson Trotman, founder of the Navigators. Trotman trained the counselors that were used. These trained counselors would lead these people that came forward through what it means to be repentant, that they needed to ask God to forgive them for their sin, and that they needed to believe in and ask Christ to come into their heart. They would share scripture with them on all of this, like Romans 3:23, 6:23, Hebrews 9:27, John 3:14-17, John 1:12, and finally Revelation 3:20. Then they would give these people scripture to give them assurance of salvation, 1 John 5:12, and give them materials for them to read. Afterward, there was follow up to try and get these people into a local church, where they lived.
      For someone to think that all that took place was for these folks to fill out a card, they are bonkers. There was follow up.
      I was saved in the Baptist Church I grew up in. But there was no follow up with me. Until a couple of years later when I came in contact with a fellow with the Navigators. Then I was taught how to have a daily time with God, that I needed to study the Bible and memorize its verses. That I needed fellowship and that I needed to be a witness for Christ. I didn't learn any of this in the Church I attended. I learned it through the Navigators. And God was sovereign to see that I got such training, even if it was 2 years after receiving Christ.
      Bubba I think you are so wrong in believing that Dr. Graham fell away. I'm sure he was meeting with Christ every day until he died. And if that verse applies to believers, then what about Peter, and what about II Chronicles 7:14
      "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
      The entire story of the nation of Israel speak against such an interpretation. God would have given up on them and found another nation that would respect and worship Him. But, His promise was to Abraham and the nation that came from Isaac, Israel. He hasn't given up on the Jews.
      Or what about the prodigal son, or Luke 15:4-10? The lost coin, the lost sheep? IMO you have interpreted that verse wrong, else there would be no way for repentance in the examples that Christ gives. His mercy doesn't work that way, IMO. Not in my experience, anyway. As long as a person is repentant, His mercy applies.

    Here's to those who cast stones publicly....Be very careful that you are not guilty...
    Romans 2: 1-5
    God’s Righteous Judgment
    1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
    2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.
    3 So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?
    4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
    5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.
