    Bravo!!! Can't believe I've already spent $300 bucks and countless hours replacing everything the OBD told me was wrong. Starting with the cat and 02 sensors, then it said throttle body, then pedal sensor. I was literally about to order a new ECM when your video popped up. Sealed the gap at the throttle body as you said and voila! I'm angry but greatful for your video.
    Cheers!!

    This shit work for me .dont go to the dealership because the whole assembly cost about 390.00 and they don’t sell you just the grommet which is the problem that causes the engine power reduced and traction control . Advance got a kit like the above video .all you do is cut the long piece that goes to the mass air flow to Connect it

    my 2012 chevy malibu left me stranded last night, i had my wife with me and it was around 2:30 am we had to walk home, the car just shut down and would not start or even try to start at all, it gave me some messages as follows #1 eng pwr reduced, #2 engine disabled and #3 service ecs, i slept on it, woke up viewed some youtube and found nothing but some similar videos, i didn't know where to start looking, i came across this video and i just thought what the heck lets just see if this might help, i had AAA bring the car home and took the fance engine cover and sure enough, the gasket around the throttle body was ripped, replaced the gasket/rubber cup on the throttle body...problem fixed

    • @royrogers1866

      Im glad you could fix it you mite want to straight pipe it like I did because that rubber will rip again and now you have an air leak that will continue coming back like-minded that's why I straight piped it

    ok. I was getting periodic 'service traction' and TC msg's on my 2007 Malibu. Car would run rough. Shifting from Drive to Reverse or vice versa resulted in transmission slamming into gear. Turn car off and then back on and car would be ok. Error msg gone! Got some OBDII codes about MAF sensor but it seem to test ok. The actual problem WAS in the MAF area. It had a semi broken wire in the harness TO the MAF sensor! My expert mechanic said the 4 wires that lead to the MAF are stock crap. Like thread. Simply changing the air filter and bending the wires in the process probably caused them to crack and break. With new wires and harness the car once again purrs like a kitten. No more service traction errors...

    OK, I went to Advance Auto and found exactly what Roy Rogers was talking about. I found the section next to the K&N systems. Spectre has a area where I found all I needed. Listed are the parts and list numbers: T-Bolt clamp 3" dia. #8703, next was the 90% elbow intake tube # 8698. Coupler kit 3" # 8776. 6" straight intake tube #8718 .
    I placed the T- bolt clamp also using the rubber gasket also included onto the 90% elbow at one end. I removed the plastic clamp on the 90% elbow. I then put on the coupler and attached it to the other end of the elbow facing toward the air box. I removed the plastic clamp that came with the 6" straight pipe and inserted it into the other end of the coupler. At this point the factory stock rubber converter that attaches to the air box is able to link up to the other end of the coupler. It takes a little adjusting before tighting the whole assembly.
    For the last step I also purchased Spectre vacuum/sensor adapter kit # 8711 . This kit will allow you to cut the hole in the 6" straight pipe for the rubber vent line. My construction is similar to Roy's but in works for me. However you do it all the parts are available.

I see you ran yours down and under but i tan mine up and over (almost like an arch). Also does it matter which part of the pipe the hose is connected to? Mine is connected on the pipe that connects to the air flow box

    I wonder what diagnostic code your ECM was reporting when you experienced your problems? P2135?
    The common repair for this problem on these GM cars is to replace the entire throttle body.
    Did you clear your codes?

    • @royrogers1866
      @royrogers1866  5 лет назад +1

      No I did not replace my throttle body and no I didn't have to clear any codes and yes my car is still driving without any problems except for when it runs over slippery services it does what it's supposed to reduce power for traction control to take over your throttle body hooks to your air intake cover which hooks to your air intake filter that's where your coat is coming from find out your air leak cuz it will set off your sensors when you fix problem all your codes in problem should go away because your computer will register it

    • @royrogers1866
      @royrogers1866  5 лет назад +1

      The code will be there but not active means no lights bells or whistles will turn on but if you have a code reader it will show and then you can delete it because the problem is fixed

    I have a 2009 Chevy Malibu 4cylinders and I took it to the dealership because it marked codes for knock sensor and ignition switch so I got that replaced not even 5 hrs pass by and it started to mark “eng power reduced “ again and o reilys ran a scan and it said the same things had to be replaced knock sensor and ignition switch and it also said the on the scanner “permanently “ so I’m not sure if they have to erase those codes from the computer of my car because those codes are stored or can I just get the “spectre performance air intake kit “ without having to go threw the whole erasing the codes from the computer problem

    I’m going to be doing this this weekend. I PRAYYYYYY it fixes it! I’ve concerned running this car off the road and hoping it would total it! I just turned of 95k and all day every day “SERVICE TRACTION, SERVICE ESC” and like was mentioned before, it started after replacing tires! I am beyond frustrated!!! My gas mileage is shit. The engine light comes on and goes off. The worst is when I stop and the care is idling. It sputters and feels like it’s going to die and then all the service this and service that comes on and the engine light flashes. I’m pay too much for this damn thing for it to be doing all this crap! 🙄

      Roy Rogers I plan on getting it taken care of this weekend. I knew that engine cover thing was crap lol. I thought about taking it off anyways and doing a cold air intake. But it never seems to fit properly over the throttle body! Piss poor design in my opinion. My daddy was a mechanic, my ex husband of 13 years was also, I know a few things. And my first thought when I got that car was “what the hell is all this crap” lol I love the car, just don’t want it to turn into a money pit!

      I know this is late as hell but anyone reading who has the same question....
      It wont matter honestly what pipe you use. Its not exactly a 'pressurized' system it just needs to be sealed for thr maf sensor to understsnd and relate the fuel/air ratio to the ECM etc. it could be plastic PVC, radiator hose, bent aluminum tubing...just use some ingenuity. For aesthetic purposes (because his looks cool as hell) I would go to your local auto parts store and grab a few pieces of exhaust tubing/ring clamps as he did. Remember in this case it just needs to fit. I ran no airbox with my maf sensor removed for 6 months until finding this video. It just made gas mileage horrible and i had to clear the vaccum leak code the inevitably popped up. 👍

      That's the code im getting after hitting a huge pot hole. One mechanic guy said it could be the wheel speed sensor and there's a RUclips video of that also because it puts the car and limp mode or reduced engine pwr but I suppose it could be a multiple of different things, car ran great before hitting that pothole. I'm going to try and look at a few things tomorrow I can try to update if I can fix this.

    Part numbers are
    8698
    8718
    8707
    Doesn’t fit the best in a 2012 Malibu but I got it to fit. Hopefully it doesn’t pull apart from the strain of forcing it in.

    My 2009 Chevy Malibu ltz 2.4L is doing the same thing. My car goes Into engine power reduced, traction control and esc and the motor starts shaking. This only happens when I have the ac on when I come to a stop. Car works fine with ac on while driving but once I’m stopped with the ac on It does that.

    I have this same issue in a 2012 Malibu. While sitting still the "service esc" light will come on and the engine will start idling realllly rough. Its been doing this for months and I have been driving it, and now the engine idols rough all the time, but when it says "service ESC" it idols even rougher. I had the codes checked and I have all kinds of codes tripped from engine modules to cylinder 3 misfiring. Will this problem cause a cylinder to misfire?
