For me, Ken was my favorite P3 character when I played FES, when people say he doesn't feel like a kid, that's the point, his mom died when he was really little so he had to force himself to grow up, he forced all of his joy deep down so he could find who killed his mom, and eventually join her because after that, what was the point, what do you do after you've gotten your revenge, what do you do after being so focused on one thing you close yourself off to everything, he chose not to make any attachments so he would feel comfort in trying to join his mom, all of this I got from FES Ken, did I think he deserved more screentime, yeah, he definitely did, but what he did have, hit really hard for me

ken being partially responsible for shinji's death was kinda the point. it's supposed to parallel shinji's own sense of guilt. he also unintentionally caused someone to die there in that very spot. ken is a character i was pretty indifferent to at first but have come to really appreciate both writing and gameplay-wise. he's actually one of the best party members to use in the original too, not just reload!

I always liked Ken and Reload’s link episodes go a long way towards fleshing him out, but it’s a little unfortunate that he never really gets to do anything away from the main party like say Junpei and Yukari do, Ken has to share his most pivotal moments with Shinji and even Akihiko to an extent, and he ends up getting overlooked because of it

I think ken is just a part of people that they don't like to aknowledge because Ken bad traits are presented from the start and people are fast on judging and ignoring him, but i really understand Ken's feelings, because as a kid i hated to be called a child and wanted to be respected, but its kinda disturbing to most people and we don't want to see Ken suffering and even on the P3P interaction if you acted like being into childish stuff like superheroes and candy is not something that makes you immature, ken would sort of still feel ashamed, i haven't came across Ken on reload but im considering now
Also the shorts, like wear some pants bro 🥲
I think they should have made Ken look like a really brave and encouragin character to outweight the negative traits that are a big part of his personality and make dialogues where he "outshines" the older members, like Junpei, but since Ken is a guy, Junpei can relate and feel encouraged by him, since junpei had an alcoholic father and probably couldn't defend himself as a kid

I'll say this the original persona 3 ken add one thing going for him and that's it however reload developed him even further with hanging out with him free times events that's another reason why I like reload it takes characters that I normally didn't care much about and make them more interesting and ken is one of them. On a side note I think another reason people hate him besides what you just mentioned was he was a romance option for the female MC in persona 3 portable that's just one reason I think people don't like him besides what you mentioned

**Spoiler Warning I guess + Wall of Text incoming**
I went about experiencing this game's story in the absolute dumbest way possible, but because of that I ended up gaining a hell of a lot of respect for Ken despite not experiencing his Linked Episode until like a month ago.
I started with P3FES but only got to about 9/6 or so, but I lost my emulator data and couldn't be arsed to play the game again to that point.
When Reload came out, I knew that I wouldn't be able to shell out 70 bucks to buy it day one, so I decided, eh what the hell, and just decided to watch a RUclips video about how Shinji died. (I had already been spoilt on that through my own stupidity)
Imagine my shock, as I watched this 11 year old child just casually drop the bomshell that he was actually suicidal and was planning to enact this revenge fantasy on the man that supposedly killed his mom. Like, people had told me that P3 was "the darkest modern Persona game" or whatever, but I was utterly BLINDSIDED by the direction this game went.
I instantly gained a lot of respect for this game, and Ken by proxy for being a much deeper character than I had initially thought. At that point I basically knew that the fandom would've hated this kid for "getting Shinji killed" and I was absolutely right. And tbh, the unjust hate this kid gets just makes me like him more. (Also the reason why I like Yukari a lot, the fanbase seems to hate her for being a "bitch" for no good reason)

For me he was my favourite character back then. I didn’t hate him at all. He was always in my team because i used him as a healer and he did decent dmg. But even so, I always thought that his story was the darkest and saddest one of all the members. Maybe especially because he was so young and the game really forces the fact that he’s been cheated out of his childhood and trying hard to be an adult when he shouldn’t be down your throat at every interaction.. The suicide hints were grim as hell and I couldn’t help but feel incredibly disturbed and yet also heartbroken for him. Besides, he literally intended to murder someone…yikes. I agree with you saying that he’s plot relevant, to me that event with Shinji always felt like one of the most important plots in the game. It impacted so many other characters as well. Also, he wasn’t half as annoying as Junpei for me. Even though he got a lot better obviously later that didn’t mean i wished i could have thrown Junpei out the window a few times .. I played P3P after P3 and that’s still my favourite version. I especially liked it for giving more background to characters through interactions you didn’t have in the other versions. Maybe that’s why I never felt like he’s been non existent.
Great Video though! Thanks for the effort ! ☺️

Everyone hated him in the original and that carried over to the remake. Which is kinda undeserved. Also the Femc route kinda ruined him same with aki.
