People have been asking for it- so finally; my thoughts on AM32 and 3D! Sorry for the wait, hopefully it was worth it. Am excited to keep testing and pushing AM32 to the limits, and getting back to daily flying

Chris Rosser did a comparison last year or something. I got the AM32 from skystarts in one of my 5 inch drones and its very smooth. Had some strange issue when trying to update the ESC though. Might have to check again. Also I'm on 4.4. Nice video!
Try 4.5, 4.4 may have some pass through issues causing your headache

Well that are good news. A stop of BL32 does probably not endanger good 3D flying. Finally, there is some clarity in the fog. I will also try to test everything under the same conditions. However, I have little experience and it will be a long time before I can say anything objective about it. That's why I'm glad that you've already said something about it.
There is a 4 month old video from ChRo where he roughly says BL32 is 2x faster then the other ESC firmwares. Then there is a 3 month old video where he also includes Fettec in the comparison. And suddenly it looks as if the differences of all types are minimal in the range of 10% - 90% rpm spin up, and BlueJay is even faster than everything at low rpm spin up. Fog, because both videos basically contradict each other imo. But maybe we'll find out in the end that the differences are only very minimal.
In any case, the spin up video BLHeli_32 vs ESCape32 is very interesting because it seems to me as if ESCape32 is not only a bit faster but the spin up also has a more linear and even acceleration. But maybe ESCape32 has other disadvantages for 3D mode. We'll have to test it...

Awesome flight! Have you ever thought of 3D drone racing with maybe creating impossible gates? It’d be challenging and difficult but at least your skill level would improve. Just wondering if it’d work.
I would love a follow up video on the things which hold each esc firmware back from being a higher tier, ie what does bluejay need to be S, what is simon K missing from the others (I know this one has CLEAR basic features missing compared to what we have today)

Yeah- would not worry about flashing anything or changing over if what you have works! Made this more for people looking at options for 3D now that our main source of hardware (BLHeli_32) is going away.

AM32 is growing fast and ALKA and unit! are very willing to help and listen to suggestions.That's all great for the community. Hope this will help manufacturers and reduce price a bit.

Everything I've had from skystars is super durable and well designed, but I prefer bl32 over am32, I've had issues with am32 not liking high rpm....
It's never been reported. What issue did you have and how long ago did you try am32? If there is any problem it will be fixed.
@@alkamotors158 i haven't reported anything, but just from my personal experience with several am32 escs is they clip at full throttle alot more then my bl32 builds, just never had a issue with bl32 in past 8 years like that, but every single one of my am32, clip at full throttle!

Which firmware version did you test ? So we know that this firmware version has been (probably) successfully tested (for some batteries) in 3D mode. This gives us a reference firmware to test other firmware versions...

Stock settings in the video, though 15 degree timing on v2.16 is the best so far.

Have you tried the TBS Lucid ESCs? If so, let us know your thoughts.
I have not- am curious to try them... though I don't have the extra cash to try all the hardware and tbh dealing with companies to get product is a headache.

I flew RealFlight in the sim a bit before trying to make a 3D quad work all those years ago. Have flown a micro heli 3D, but nothing substantial. Wish I could afford some 3D heli's haha

& @ZoeFPV Strictly speaking: Yes there is (3.8 - 4 inch sub250). In practical terms, ZoeFPV is right, NO. Actually, yes because 3.8 inch 3D props are available as far as I can see. It is definitely possible to build a sub250 3D copter that can do 3D just as well as a 5 inch one.

* There are 20x20 32 bit ESCs.
* AND there are actually already 3.8 inch 3D propellers. (see my video list with 3D propellers)

However, you have to use/buy motors with M5 connection which are usually a bit oversized. e.g. a 1408 motor for M5 props. And you will probably have very high shipping costs because it doesn't come from China but from Germany. And it is rather questionable how long these props will still exist... Because one company stopped producing props and the other company is very small...
The prop prices are currently the bottleneck for a 4 inch sub250 (and of course digital 4 inch sub250 ist not possible). As far as I can see, 4x 3.8 inch 3D props from Graubner currently cost around €9 in some german shops plus shipping. If you buy the Schulze props, which I believe are identical, they cost around €26 for 4 props plus shipping if I see that correctly. The Graupner props will definitely be sold out at some point. That's just too expensive ! So I hope that Gemfan and HQprop will soon make smaller props, and for small, light motors with a T-mount, of course.

I updated to 2.12; wasn't too hard- just had to flash via their configurator via flight controller usb passthrough.

How is this maybe better than BlHeli_s or Bluejay (i'm ignorant)? I thought this could only be flashed to a 32bit not an 8bit ESC.
It is 32bit only- I don't recommend people flash it- but if they have the choice when buying new hardware- it is probably the better choice and should be close to on par with 8 bit hardware costs.
