I completely agree. If you took a naturally-aspirated V8 car, changed the engine parts, Dyno Tuned it, Upgraded your suspension and wrecked your warranty in the process. It would probably cost more Then $2,000.

I personally didn’t get into an accident (thank God), but TESLA had to make repairs under warranty and my car was at the auto body for 3 weeks & left there with tons of overspray & my bumper has a huge gap! So I can’t imagine your experience.
New owner of a Model 3 AWD long range and I’ve been watching reviews on the new performance boost. For some reason, and I think I know why, upgrades are not available yet in my App. Ownership changed from my father to myself so I think once I get the title in my name and upload it on MyTesla website, then the app will change. In any case, I can’t wait to purchase the upgrade!

Well this is them doing product segmentation, If they put in a 3.9sec 0-60, people wouldn’t go for the Performance Model 3. So get the SR+ for cheaper and then pay 2K for faster acceleration but still less than the performance variant. Also they do this with batteries, you can unlock more of it after paying for more range. Also this is how FSD works, all the sensors and cameras are on the vehicle already, you’ve to pay for the software. TL,DR: Mostly everything comes on the car and you pay for what you want. Also, there are tons of free upgrades for everyone like the 5% range and performance boosts :)
