    Now, in terms of the actual driving and ownership experience…here’s the “Bad”
    The first is with Super Charging.
    Thankfully, I have yet to be in a situation where I’ve arrived at a Super Charger and it’s been entirely full. However, I’ve certainly been in situations where I’ve pulled up to a supercharger and taken the last spot…and then someone pulls up a few minutes later and has to sit there, waiting for 10-20 minutes waiting for something to open up.
    Second, lets talk briefly about Range Anxiety.
    This is the phenomenon where you worry about running out of a charge while driving, or wondering about whether or not you’ll have enough electricity to make it to your destination and back without running out.
    And third…while we’re on the topic of super chargers…it definitely adds time to your trip.
    The car will tell you that you’ll only have to supercharge for 10 or 20 minutes in order to give yourself enough battery to get to the next supercharger…but usually you never want to cut it that close, and the mileage the car tells you can be off by 5 or 10%.
    Fourth: Entry
    I’ve noticed that at completely random times, when I walk up to the car…it won’t open.
    Fifth: Repair
    It’s been decent the ONE TIME I’ve used it. They DID fix the car and they gave me a Model X P90D as a loaner car, which was REALLY nice. Plus, I’ve heard that Tesla will often will you a BETTER LOANER CAR than what you currently drive, just to give you a bonus “Tesla experience” and show you what you’re missing out on.
    Sixth: Paying extra for Full Self Driving
    I probably would’ve been a little upset had I paid $5000 for the full self driving option a year ago, and still not have been able to use it like initially advertised.
    What I like:
    First…Autopilot. It’s absolutely amazing.
    After using it…I gotta say…the self driving feature is a better driver than 99% of people on the road. It keeps the car RIGHT in the middle of the lane, it’s avoided accidents from cars who have tried to merge into me, it keeps me going at the precise speed I set it to, and it makes the overall trip SO much more enjoyable.
    Second, there’s absolutely something to be said about not having a gas powered engine.
    That means I never need to stop at gas stations. I never need to worry about oil changes. Plus, electricity is WAY cheaper than gasoline, so it ends up saving me a ton of money.
    Third: Tesla Car Insurance
    Because Tesla understands how to fix their own cars, and fully understands their accident-avoidance capabilities…so they’ll insure it FOR YOU, for a fraction of the price.
    Fourth: Ample Storage
    It’s got a front trunk which is big enough for a small suitcase or a few bags of groceries. And then you have a massive back trunk…which turns into an even more massive trunk when you put down the back seats.
    Fifth: The Tesla App
    In here, you can set the car to begin heating before you even arrive…The app also allows you to lock or unlock your car remotely, anywhere in the world…Not to mention, for people like me who lose their car really, really easily because they forget where it’s parked…well, the app literally tells you where your car is located, and it’ll map you to its precise location.
    Sixth: The center screen also turns into a TV in the event you want to watch RUclips, Netflix, or Hulu…
    And when it comes down to it, driving and owning a Tesla is very much an “experience,” Once you get it, it’s hard to look at cars the same way, ever again.

      @@sddndsiduae4b-688 You seem to be confusing what the Tesla cameras can see & identify versus what the car displays on the screen. Just because its not displayed on the screen doesn't necessarily mean the car doesn't see it. Though just because the car can see it, that doesn't mean it will *currently* react beyond what it is currently advertised to do. There are boatloads of Tesla camera videos with the raw data overlay and its identifying pretty much everything in real time. That said, I had not seen the latest MobileEye tech - it looks pretty cool! Nice to see the competition for sure. Though I wouldn't say its much more impressive than "full self driving" demo videos Tesla has teased over the last year or two.

    Teslas have advantages disadvantages. They have less maintenance than an ICE car, but they are NOT zero maintenance, as the Rich Rebuilds channel makes clear. Electricity is cheaper (for now) than gas, but you pay more for a Tesla. It would take a LOT of driving to make up the difference. ICE manufacturers have better QC--fit, finish, etc. They also have electronic features that are pretty much a match for Teslas.

      I actually rented a Model S because of commments like this. And while it did prove me wrong about some of my prior concerns, I was very happy to be back in my Mercedes after the weekend with the Tesla. It costs more than my Mercedes but is less comfortable than the Ford Focus of my friend. At the same time I was expecting that the autopilot would blow my mind. Instead it felt like a slightly more refined version of drive assist systems on my E-class. It is better at staying in lane and it does not ask you to touch the steering wheel that often. It “tricked” me into thinking that it is actually smart. But then it almost made me crash on the highway where it kept accelerating in the turn beyond allowed limit. Overall it feels like a beta testing product. But maybe it’s just me

    • @Brendon471
      @Brendon471 4 года назад +3

      MrAchilles1984 I think it's just the overall experience you get used to after owning it for a few weeks that makes it better than other cars. For example, in the morning I wake up, get ready for work, walk out to the car and it's already warmed up (starts warming automatically shortly after my alarm goes off to my set temp and turns on seat heater to my setting). Navigation to my work is also automatically turned on waiting for me as soon as I step in the car. Everything is just automatic and done for you, it makes for a very pleasant experience.
      I'm also now used to the single pedal driving mode where braking and accelerating are done with one pedal, so the car is much more in control (you don't have to move your feet around as people speed up and slow down, it's just a simpler experience). That combined with the instant response of the motors makes moving the car around in traffic on the highway very quick and precise. And then when traffic gets really bad you put it on autopilot and let it handle nearly everything including changing lanes and taking exits (some better than others to be fair). And it's honestly really nice driving in silence with no engine noises or vibrations.
      Then when I get home at the end of the day I just plug my car in and it's ready to go for the next morning. No gas stops to have to think about is seriously so nice.
      And not to mention the OTA updates which bring genuinely useful (Sentry mode is amazing!) and fun new features that keep the car feeling fresh. It's honestly exciting getting a notification that a new software update is available.
      All of this is what makes owning these cars like none other, but you really have to own it in order to realize how/why it's so great and why it makes it hard to look at other cars.
      I never expected it but after owning my Model 3 for a year now and 50k maintenance free miles, I'm converted. I don't plan on buying any car other than Tesla's from here on out.

    That's a great video, but the problem with the Tesla not opening is not Tesla's fault but rather you phone's, it probably closes the process in order to free memory and this makes it not open so I'd go into your settings and check that up, let Tesla run in background and autostart always and that should fix it!

    I haul the cars... next time you have a problem unlocking the car put the card against the door frame between the front and back window. The yellow marker light on the front fender blinks once for lock twice for unlock.

    My 2013 Honda CRV has never required any repairs whatsoever. None, nada, nicht,..... that's right....nothing has ever broken or failed to function on my 7 year-old CRV. Sure it needs oil changes once per year, wheels rotated, one front-end alignment, air filters changed, oh and after 5 years I had to buy a new 12v car battery. But that's it! I stop and buy gas about twice a month. I never have to worry about running out of fuel, or unexpected repairs. You think for one minute I'm going to pay $50,000 for an electric Tesla? BTW I don't make it a habit to "zone out" while driving. That's a very bad habit to get in to IMO. Especially in L.A.

My county of over 100,000 has 0 stations. And as far as I know the McDonalds ones don't work right? Lame Tesla cmon get better

    I'm not a Tesla fan but... will you buy a Kia e-Niro instead for the same price???

    Actually, I arrived at my destination with like 3 miles many times.
    It's easy to adjust your consumption, just lower the eat, decrease the speed and you're good to go.
    The only problem I have is right now when my onboard charger is broken. I'll have to wait until next month for my service appointment. Until then I cannot do AC charging, so my only option will be DC charging at the supercharger. It's both more expensive and also inconvenient.

      Also, it's alright you took the 200$ for the paint. But you should have told them to take off the other cars and have them fixed or have them inform the customers about it. Now they probably won't be doing anything about it.

    I pay $11 per month for insurance on my Volvo 244. I repainted it myself w/ house paint (literally the same exact paint that's on my house, so I had it anyway). the windows and door locks are manual, so no issues there. it doesn't have a computer, and it was built with maintenance via normal tools in mind, so I can easily fix everything myself. the only thing I've ever had a shop do was press a few bushings and mount and balance tires.

    • @sumdumbmick
      @sumdumbmick 4 года назад

      I've done a few things to it to improve fuel economy, like disable the power steering (which it doesn't need, because it's not a heavy vehicle), and add vortex generators in key locations. together these improved my fuel economy by about 20%. considering it's still running an early redblock that means it's only getting about 22mpg on slightly hilly city streets now, but considering how easy they were to do to the car, and the fact that that brings it up to a fuel economy comparable to the '99 Ford that it replaced (the Volvo's a '79) that's a huge improvement.

    • @sumdumbmick
      @sumdumbmick 4 года назад

      oh yeah, and I can't lose my car in a parking lot because nothing looks like it thanks to 1) the fact that it's 41 years old, and 2) it has a custom 2-tone paint job (the lower half is still the original paint, the top was all weathered away which is why I painted it) and big vortex generators sticking out of the roof.
