Tesla Acceleration Boost: Is It Worth It?

In this video I dive into Tesla’s acceleration boost that they offer on the Model 3. I do 0-60 runs before the acceleration boost and 0-60 runs after the acceleration boost and compare the results. The model 3 held up!
The conditions for these 0-60 runs weren’t perfect, but they were ideal. My Tesla model 3 started at 80% battery and is still on original tires in this video after about 45,000 miles.
The Tesla Model 3 acceleration boost is as advertised - it takes your 0-60 time down from 4.2 seconds to about 3.7 seconds, and I show that in this video.
Is it worth it? Well, there are 2 ways to get the acceleration boost. One is to redeem 9,500 referral credits, and the other is to pay $2,000. Either way, if you like speed, I say it is well worth it.

I literally floored it on the on ramp to the freeway and no joke before I knew it I was already doing 125 !!! In the blink of an I. I said are you f'n kidding me 😂😂 fasted I ever drove and it only felt like I was going 80. Insane.

This is a great video. I have a 2023 Model Y Performance, so I completely understand that pull you get when you have acceleration boost. :) It's defintely worth it.

I bought it before I left the service center with my new Tesla. Car guys spend 5x that much for similar gains all the time.
This is true to everyone saying it’s not worth it, other cars that go this fast are north of 6 figures!
THANKFULLY....I have a 2023 Model 3 RWD and can't get acceleration boost. LAST thing I need is more speed and spending $2k (I have ZERO referral credits ;( ). I drive in nothing but CHILL mode so if I want to 'feel' the speed, I just go back to standard.... But good info! AND THANK YOU JOJO....

I bought mine the day I picked up my M3LR on Christmas Eve 2019 and have never once regretted it. Best money I've spent! If you don't believe me look at my driving record LoL!

Upgrades are always new and shiny but I think from a longevity standpoint, that car will last you plenty of years.
What brand and model of tyre’s are you running Are they performance tyres or efficiency ones?

It does. Someone did a comparison like this a couple of years ago and not only was the 0-60 quicker of course but the midrange and top end was slightly faster than the Performance. If you like speed like me it is certainly worth it.

Thanks for the video. I think $2k is a lot of money for .5 of a second of increased acceleration. Is the perceived difference a halo effect?
It is very noticeably faster. No regrets.
Getting the same results in the ICE car would be around the same, if not even more.

Hey! Great video. I have a ‘23 Model 3 Performance, but considering getting a second, used Long Range and would personally pay for the acceleration boost.
Quick question regarding your tint. I currently have a 55% film on my windshield and considering re-tinting to 35% or 45%. I have 15% film on my side windows. If you don’t mind me asking, what % film do you have on your windows? Looking to get same look on my windshield!

@@vegasteslafamily I had just reedemed mines 2hrs before I saw your video. I tried it at 62%. My suggestion would be to charge it to 98%-100% then unplug it, precondition the batteries by routing to a supercharger and give it 10/15 mins of preconditioning. 🤯 night & day difference than just launching it cold turkey

I don’t get this take. They had to write additional code for this option, it’s not like a simple “on-off” light switch, and they give you a choice on whether you want to pay for this.

Teslas are amazing ! I absolutely love my model 3 LR. This acceleration boost is really tempting ! 🤩
To get 100hp gain on a gas engine would cost at least 5k on a turbo kit / supercharger kit. It’s a good deal for 2k, also when you go and sell it or trade it in your car will be worth the 2k more

Fun video, but the answer is most likely no. It's not worth it. You'll use it 5 times for fun and another 5 times to impress someone and that's it. 2000USD through the chimney. Even the "standard" is an overkill and you'll switch it to chill for the comfort.

I do a 3.7 0-60 like 20x a day. Tires are about done at 16k miles though lol.

Ok with referrals, waste of money otherwise. The base car was accelerating as fast as my old BMW GT1200 motorbike, in real world driving that was already more than fast enough. Fun, yeah. Safe? Debatable. In the wrong or inexperienced hands downright dangerous. No wonder EV insurance is so high. There's a market out there for lower performance and lower insurance.

I have the Model Y LR dual motor and I would have to pay 2000 dollars to get the boost.
To go from 4.8 to 4.2 sec in 0-60 mph is not worth it to me. I don't need that small power boost to do the driving I do daily. i don't plan to drag race anybody ever and 4.8 sec acceleration is good enough for me. I can spend the 2000 dollars on something worth while.
Allot of people say the boost is worth it, and my question is WHY? Just to screech away form stoplights - Stupid!!!!!! Then you can spend your hard earned dollars on new tires every couple of months.
That option is always available if I want it, but right now - NO!!!!
