I had the 21 LR Y but sold it off due to the crazy market for them early nov last year and immediately put my order in for a 22 MYP requesting it to be one of the 4680 structural pack from Austin. From when I initially bought my Y LR at $49,990, spending an extra $10k for the performance at that time made little sense. I just added the Acceleration Boost to my LR. It was already crazy fast before and now it's insane. I can't imagine how fast the Performance is. If you could get the Performance with the smaller wheels and higher ground clearance I probably would have gone for it but the roads where I live are so bad I would probably pop a tire on a monthly basis if I had the 21s.
Tires on 21" wheels are more likely to "pop" than the 20". In the past 2 years, I've only had 1 flat due to a massive pothole...and I mean it was massive...and I wasn't paying attention b/c I was on AP and drinking coffee...lol. Unless you plan on going off-roading, clearance isn't an issue.
Amazing that a year later you are still one of the only content providers who has this comparison. I own both the MYLR AB (2021) and MYP (2023) should I do a similar comparison video?
Very cool review! A couple of tenths of a second doesn’t sound like a lot on paper but it sure does look like a lot on video. Everybody acts like the difference in range is so substantial, I could see if it was the difference of 300 miles versus 400 miles but it’s like 20 miles difference. I’d take performance 🤙🏼
💯. The pricing difference now is even less and the Performance comes with all season tires for anyone living in the cold climate. Only reason to get the LR would be for the 7-seat configuration.
Just ordered an AWD Long Range. For the premium and a few seconds faster 0-60, I can add the upgrades to the Long Range without the price tag. Great video.
I just ordered a Model Y LR, I want the faster acceleration but I'm in Canada so we need extra ground clearance due to the snow. I'm really glad I ordered the LR version because I can get the upgrade and get closer to insane acceleration. This will help me outrun the polar bears when they are chasing me from my igloo.

Truthfully, while the Performance model is very impressive, the long range+boost model is overall a better bang for your buck type of car. Half a second of speed difference for an extra six thousand dollars is a bit hard to take when you also get: -20~ miles less of range and no winter tire option. For me the LR+B is the way to go. Good on anyone that gets the Performance model, but it certainly isn't for me.
I have long range and honestly for me, the extra 10k is not worth the extra second I get in speed. I am already faster than 90-95% of the vehicles on the road right now, which is awesome!! I'm very happy with this car and I love it's radio system, it's superb!!
I live in NY and was going to get the performance until I realized it only came with low profile summer tires which are not practical for the roads here . With pot holes I would be going through tires and rims all the time so I got the long range . For $10,000 less if I don’t eventually get the acceleration boost I put the red caliper covers on mine , added the rear spoiler and the metal brake and accelerator pedals so mine looks like a performance vehicle . I’m very happy with the vehicle and I didn’t have any fit and finish issues .
Yes the LR+Acceleration boost is definitely the wise choice. I still have to get snow tires and wheels if I want to drive it in the winter...figure add another $3,500. Ugh.
yeah luckily I split my time between Arizona and the Bay :) so ... that won't effect me at least and I hav ea Subaru back in AZ if I need to take a car into bad weather.
MYP! Easy pick for the wife. It’s a lot of fun to drive for a crossover. I wish it had a little more sway bar in the rear but besides that, no real complaints. She’s a rocket.
correct...the rear does get a bit unsettled into the corner...but with the new Tesla Safety Score I've been driving like a grandma...or slowasiandriver. smh.
Your article pushed me the final inch to proceed with the Boost on my 2020 Y LR. Just installed this evening. Been debating with myself for a good while. Can't wait till tomorrow and will give it a try.
Thanks for the great video and Review. I got the long Range with Acceleration boost don't like lower suspension and prefer the winter ready Induction wheels plus the 20 miles additional range is handy. I did a rolling acceleration test of 0-60 ~ 3.9 seconds which is more practical than a standing acceleration test and that is plenty fast. If I wanted a sports car I would get a M3P instead. This is a fast enough crossover but a hell a lot more pratical.
That’s awesome and congratulations my friend! My neighbors LR and my P both were built around Sep of 2020 and came with 75kW battery. I believe yours has the 80kW battery hence the amazing performance.
I bought a 2021 LR Red Model Y. I had it for a year and put 16000 miles on it. I just sold it to a dealer for $8000 more than I paid for it. I used the extra moola to order a Model Y Performance. It may be a pipe dream, but living on the East Coast, I am hoping to get it out Giga Texas. I heard they were starting off by making Performance Ys with the unibody. Icing on the cake would be a Performance Y with the new 4680 batteries. Like I said. Pipe Dream
@@brianhersh620 I would just go with the stock autopilot. I would say FSD is the absolute worst investment you can make regarding a Tesla. It is far and away NOT READY for primte time. Just look at all the things like the summon videos where the cars drive over curbs. Factor in they removed radar from the latest model 3 and Y's so everyone just became beta testers on the new software in effect. Save the current 10k asking price and invest it. Or wait until there is a subscription version and try it long term before you buy it.
Well it is 2023, and I also went with getting the 2023 Long Range model Y. Not planning on getting the Accel. Boost at this time, but I can get it anytime if so desired. i don't see myself drag racing through my town. LOL!!! I got my Tesla to save some money on purchase and I like the larger hatchback style of the Model Y. My model Y has the HW4 and better quality cameras now. No plans to invest in FSD or EAP at this time. My daily driving does not require needing them - those I can also get at anytime. Basic Auto Pilot will do me just fine. Thanks for video. Take care.
You obviously have to defend whatever you have but there are honestly zero good reasons to go with the performance. The cost difference combined with totally impractical wheels and tires is more of a detriment.
You get the performance if you want the faster car. Everyone getting the performance is gonna have the cash to swap to different wheels and tires, and upgrade to a good set of coil overs that ride better then the normal model y and the performance. It’s a pay to play game, you want the better faster car you gotta pay.
I'm too cheap for the performance. Also, if I buy myself a $70k car instead of a $60k car, my wife is gonna want one too. So it's not an $8k difference it's a $20k difference. (she doesn't know i'm buying the 2k upgrade)
Thank you for the vid. I have a delimma. There is only a 3k difference between the P and the LR. Right now id get 10,000 credits for buying a new LR. That is just enough to get the Boost for free. Should I save 3k and get the LR and use creds for the Boost. Or would you personally go for the P? Money isnt an issue, I can afford either.
If price isn’t an issue just go for the P…it comes with better looking wheels and a few other cosmetic items. P also comes with All Season tires now. Good luck.
@@SlowAsianDriver Thank you for the reply. I will prob get the P. You are right about that. The wheels and extra performance alone make it worth the extra 3k. Plus I can use the extra 1k discount I get from having the Cybertruck pre ordered and shave 3k off by getting a new one in existing inventory. Appreciate the help
Nice! We bought the Model Y Long Range. I think the Performance is worth it if you want/need that additional speed and braking. We find the LR plenty powerful and fun and have no regrets. I just have to talk wife into the performance upgrade now.
Does the LR model feel like it doesnt launch from a stop before and/or after getting the acceleration boost? Drove a demo Model Y LR today at Tesla and it felt underwhelming upon acceleration, more of a gradual increase in power as it gained speed. While the car said "standard," I am wondering if the demo model hindered any bit of launch. Performance model definitely pulls u back in the seat.
I live in upstate NY. Got the LR and added boost the minute it came out. I added white caliper covers to match the interior. It drives well in the the snow but winter wheels and tires will be needed. Great car.
Helpful video, but living in the Northeast it's not just snow. It's potholes too. I'd love to get the P, but I suspect leaving the 21's on in summer would even lead to a lot of blown tires and/or bent rims.
I can’t make up my mind between the two still but great video! I currently have a 2019 Model 3 SR+ which does 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds, so 4.3 seconds in the LR Model Y with AB should be a great improvement but 3.5 seconds just sounds amazing. I love how fast the performance caught up to the AB LR. 😲👏🏽👏🏽
Assuming price isn't a factor, here's a simple decision tree: 1. Do you love speed? If Yes, buy MYP. 2. Do you live in cold climate? If No, buy MYP. If Yes, get new wheels & tires and buy MYP. 3. Do you care about firmer rides? If No, buy MYP. If Yes, get aftermarket springs and buy MYP... All kidding aside, you won't regret MYP. Get a LR only if you need the 7 seats as it's not an option on the MYP. Good luck pal!
@@SlowAsianDriver having 2 kids under 5, price is always the factor, which I don’t always like to admit lol. $2500 in daycare costs every month is a buzzkill. I’m still leaning towards getting the performance though, I’m probably just going to save up a little more cash money first. I like that the performance Y can be a fast car and a family car all in one and my model 3 is way too small with the kiddos. Love your vids btw, keep up the great work!
I've edited my order twice in the last couple days between the LR and P., i'll be 95% around town driving so i feel like the P is my guy. Supposedly delivery is 5-8 weeks for the P compared to Dec for the LR. The practical move is the LR, but you only live once.
Unless you live in cold weather or need the 7 seat option, you won’t regret the Performance. Also keep in mind the price of MYLR went up so the pricing difference between the LR and P isn’t as much as before.
Ordered a MY-P on august 10th and my delivery date is Sept 6th! Could’ve been as early as the 3rd but I will be out of town! So less than 4 weeks on a P!!!!
I have a long range dual motor Model 3 with acceleration boost. Really quick but in comparison to the performance the performance is better because of the performance package such as Brakes, suspension etc. You need those with the extra power. I have had some close calls because of the braking. So when I purchased the Y for my wife I opted for the performance model. The performance was more for me LOL. Better braking and suspension is needed with the extra power/speed. My opinion based on personal experience.
Long range all the way, yeah Performance is good when escaping zombies but I'm not tryna be speeding all over town and draining the battery. I stay by a school zone and its not worth it.
Great comparo,am waiting for my Y Performance after driving my neighbor's Tesla 3 with the recent $2k performance boost, delivery day is supposed to be before 12/31/2020...
I got the Performance model. Most Tesla owners don't realize that those Brembo brakes alonnneee make it worth it as those aren't cheap at all, plus those 21'' urberturbine wheels/tires are like 5k on teslas site! Even for $4500-5k The 21'' wheels are sold out on Teslas site, that tells me the LR owners regret not upgrading to the Performance in the first place.
When this video was done, the pricing difference between the LR & P was still over $7K. Now the P comes with All Season tires, so you don't even need separate wheels and/or tires if you live in the cold climate. So unless you need 7-seats (which isn't available on the P), getting the P is a no brainer. Btw, the brakes between the LR & P are almost the same...the P's pads are slightly thicker.
I went with Model Y performance, I got it for $53,000 with white interior and black paint. Original MSRP was $58,550. So I got for over 5500 discounted. The model Y Long range with the induction rims and black paint was only $1,000 cheaper. Yea would be nice to have more range but I choose for speed and looks over practicality :}
I like the upgraded rims and would have got them on my Y but they only came in 20" wheels. Sadly, too many pothole flats on 20" tires for city driving. :(
Tempted to try the acceleration boost I've test driven both the LR and the MYP that MYP is no joke, but in the end I had to get the LR for the 7 seats. Wish Tesla offered the MYP in 7 seat configuration.
I just took my stock 2023 Model Y Long Range to the track yesterday. Best time 12.69 @ 113.5. I lost to a boosted Model Y and his time was 12.30 and the same trap as mine.
The LR with 20" Induction is vary little less than Performance and with the boost is the same. I like the 21" Überturbine wheels the spoiler and the red break callipers. I didn't even consider the LR maybe I am not vary practical :)
I'm getting non-performance Y with boost because if I went with the performance, I would need to buy new wheels and tires due to snow and crazy potholes in the northeast. I prefer 19" wheels for better range anyways. So with new wheels and tires, the performance package would end up costing me $14000 extra.. not worth it for half a second faster 0-60.
I have that very problem. Couldn’t even drive the MYP with a light coating of snow. Wheels and tires will be another $3,600. Ugh! But once the weather warms up, the MYP is a hoot to drive.
I’d select the LR version cuz of commuting, but Really like the sporty aspects of the Performance (factory springs, red callipers & Uber a turbine wheels)
MYP vs MYLR is like comparing a Subaru Sti vs a WRX, then comparing a MYP to MYLR+ AB is like an Sti vs a WRX with Prodrive (I used to own a 2005 WRX with Prodrive). Even though the WRX PPP felt as fast as the Sti, it still wasn't an Sti. And, back in the day I wish I had gone for the Sti! MYP is today's Sti, in this debate;)
Just an update to my posts of almost a year ago. I own an MY LR with ab. It’s wonderful, much more fun to drive and own than the X5 it replaced ! (Though I miss the split tailgate 😂)
The price difference between the Performance and Long Range is only $5k now. So if you get the Boost, then it's only a $3k difference. Performance is a no brainer now. Especially if you are planning to sell/trade in your car later. Dealerships don't take Acceleration Boost into consideration when they price out your car.
I like the video, with new tesla prices discount and 7500 yax credit the performance model y is not eligible, Do you recommend to buy model 3 P or model y long range with AB?
If you want the fastest then get the M3P. Otherwise a MYLR+AB will do just fine :) Btw, I’m addition to the car’s MSRP, income also plays a factor into the $7,500 eligibility. Good luck!
More than $8K, because you will need a set of wheels and tires if you live in cold climate. The P is only available with summer tires so it’s another $3K. Had the AB was available, I would’ve went with a LR+AB instead of the P.
that's because Tesla raised the price on the LR since last year by $5K. Anyone who wants max performance and doesn't care about switching to winter tires or having 7-seats, the Performance is the way to go IMHO.
I'm looking to purchase a MY P but have been reading that their might be some upgrades coming before year end that is worthwhile waiting for (Battery upgrade)? Any truth to this?
Tesla is like an iPhone…there will always be upgrades. No one knows for sure when. Do you wait or get one now enjoy it and trade it in 3 years when the new improvements come out? That’s a personal choice.
Great video comparrison. I do have an order for a LR Y here in the UK.I have since found out that the MY will come from China to the UK.I have put that order on hold now as I only want the Giga Berlin version, due out mid 2022. Reason being, better paint job , single pressed front and rear sub frames, 4680 batteries and new adaptive headlights. I think this Berlin model will be the best all round value for moneyTesla to date! it's going to sell like hot cakes all around the world. There is a chance that this Berlin version may have air suspension but I'm not holding out for that. I also have the debate as to whether it should be the performance or Long range, but like most on here I would prefer the higher ride height. The Model Y at this point in it's development does suffer from ride quality both with the P and LR, this I'm sure Tesla MY will be improved either by air suspension or an upgrade to the standard suspension. My intention will be to keep the Model Y long term and It's good to know that should the LR Y need a pep up or suspension upgrade, all this can be done at a later date to get the perfect model y to suit.
Thanks mate! Keep in mind that all Tesla vehicles continue to evolve and when you wait you risk potential increase in cost. The MYLR already went up 24% in the past 12 month here in the US. MY surprisingly also has a very strong resell value…so a lot of the folks keep the car for 24-36 month and trade in for the newer model…sort of like an iPhone. Good luck with your order and enjoy it in good health. Cheers!
Just ordered a MYP the long range with the black rims was only a 5k difference and if you add acceleration boost a 3k difference so right now I’d say how pricing is the performance gives best bang for buck if you don’t need the extra range
Fun fact: There were zero “slow Asian drivers” in this video, so I’m guessing that name is ironic lol. But kidding aside thanks for this well produced comparison. I want seven seats (#kids) but Tesla won’t give us the performance model AND seven seats, so long distance with boost is the fastest seven people can currently go in a Y. This was the exact video I needed, so thanks again. 👍🏿
This was great! , As a 3 Tesla Performance( Model S P90D, & 2P3D’s) owner, I am still debating getting a Y non P OMG for the first time 🤨 because I don’t want the 21” wheels and the acc boost brings it so close for most daily driving. I am also getting a Cybertruck and awaiting an X refresh. My builds are $53,000 non P vs $61,000 P about $165 more a month lease for the Performance , and it’s tough?!
I also have a Model S P90D w/ ludicrous and LR AWD Model Y w/ 20's for the wife - the LR is really quick (not brutal like the P90D but still fast) and feels super sporty. I think you will love adding the LR Model Y to your stable, especially with the boost Havent gotten the boost yet but now I know what I want for my BDAY haha!
MY Performance with 19x8.5 Martian wheels + Pirelli summer tires will smoke that acceleration boost. Also, it’ll improve the range of the MYP. Those 21” uberturbine wheels are freaking heavy almost 70 pounds with tires.
Nice comparison video my friend. I have MY Performance on order now and at the time of order was only 3.5k more than LR. My only concern is the ride quality of Performance and hearing folks preferring the LR. What are your thoughts since you have both side-by-side?
If you have or had European sports cars like Porsche 911 or M3, you’ll find the MYP’s ride quality gentle. If all you have or had are Camry or Cadillacs then you’ll find the ride harsh. With that said, nothing beats the looks and handling of the 21” Uberturbine wheels on the MYP. ✌️🤙
Chose the performance. Range is barely affected by the uberturbine wheels. Neither is the ride quality according to most youtube videos about it. Decided firmly that the overall acceleration boost and cool asthetics with the wheels and spoiler was the choice for me :)
It is probably the appropriate place to ask. Why is there such big difference in 0-60 acceleration if LR is 514 hp, other is 534 ho ? Difference sounds way too big
Interesting and well made video. Questions, How expensive is the "acceleration boost" which was added to the LR? I realize that this video is a little bit dated, at this point, but have read that the advertised range of the 2022 LR is 330 miles. However, if the larger wheels and tires (similar size to the performance) are put on, (which I believe the LR in this video has) it reduces the range to 318. How much of a range reduction is attributed to the "acceleration boost"?
AB Option is $2,000. The current price difference between LR+AB and Performance is $2K. Having AB doesn’t hurt the rates range on the LR…b/c it’s simply a software upgrade. Just like a gas car’s EPA rating, your actual MPG varies with your driving style. In real life the rates range difference between LR and P rarely comes into play as you will be recharging well before you hit the limit. IMHO, the MYP looks better with the 21” Uberturbine wheels…which now comes with all season tires…so winter driving isn’t an issue anymore.
Those 21” tires and wheels are going to be a PITA down the road because of the very low profile tires. Beware of those alloy wheel denting potholes! I feel the Performance model doesn’t differentiate itself enough from the LR Y at the current MSRP pricing. Except for the pedals the interior is identical. It would look awesome with red stitching on the seats and steering wheel. The new price difference is almost $11k between the two.
Don’t I know it about the low profile tires...I just popped one two weeks ago going 35 MPH on a local road. MYLR+Acceleration boost is the more sensible choice for sure.
I have the MYLR and think I might just opt for the $2K NOS boost over trading up for a whole new Vehicle 🤣 I can always paint my brake calipers, buy a $150 spoiler and not worry about two sets of tires since I live in a Chicago and encounter snow and slick roads often - please confirm this would be the best option! Also love the music and commercial theme!
I went with the LR+boost. I'm in a cold climate and drive in a lot of snow. I wanted the extra inch of clearance, more comfortable ride, and whatever max miles I could get. Overall very happy with what I have!

Yes the LR+Acceleration boost is definitely the wise choice. I still have to get snow tires and wheels if I want to drive it in the winter...figure add another $3,500. Ugh.
Where did you find the red caliper covers? What spoiler did you get? And the metal brake and pedals?
yeah luckily I split my time between Arizona and the Bay :) so ... that won't effect me at least and I hav ea Subaru back in AZ if I need to take a car into bad weather.
Key word..... looks
What if you live in a deserty area, where it gets scorch and there are pot wholes everywhere? Is the LR still better?
You should race a Model Y Performance against a Model 3 w/acceleration boost!
This is what I've been searching for. I haven't been able to find any videos on this.
I’m still looking
You will be giggling like a little school boy :) enjoy it pal!
I would get the Performance edition - totally worth it.
Your videos helped convince me to go with the MYP. Taking delivery late next week, super stoked!
Lol. Glad I’m a “bad” influence on your decision. You’re gonna love the MYP!
This is the video I was looking for thanks man
Glad I can be of help!
Rolling 5-60 mph
I bought a 2021 LR Red Model Y. I had it for a year and put 16000 miles on it. I just sold it to a dealer for $8000 more than I paid for it. I used the extra moola to order a Model Y Performance. It may be a pipe dream, but living on the East Coast, I am hoping to get it out Giga Texas. I heard they were starting off by making Performance Ys with the unibody. Icing on the cake would be a Performance Y with the new 4680 batteries. Like I said. Pipe Dream
That’s awesome!
Longrange with boost and get the calipers painted myself 😂
But you’ll get smoked by a real P model 🤔
Especially after they release a boost for the p
@@00blackfrc don’t think they will lol
They aren’t just painted they are better calipers all around.
Having seen both, the P’s caliper pads are a little bit thicker…not by much though.
for the carbon fiber spoiler to those who wanted it, its available on the tesla store in the model y section i believe.
I specifically did not get the performance Y because the LR AWD Y with boost would be close enough and it saved me $$$$$$ which I put toward FSD!
Is the FSD a good purchase?
If you drive long distance on a regular basis yes...otherwise I would wait a little longer. It's very good but far from being perfect.
@@wavshrdr8452 $199 month. Ouch
Take care.
We (wife and myself) ordered a LR model Y in January and it's showing to be here between 5/28 to 6/25, very excited!!! liked and subscribed.
Good choice! You are gonna love the car!
You obviously have to defend whatever you have but there are honestly zero good reasons to go with the performance. The cost difference combined with totally impractical wheels and tires is more of a detriment.
Not if you live in Southern California where the coldest it ever gets is 45 degrees and get like 5 days of rain a year.
Lol. Happy wife happy life.
4:00 LOL that smile you get when racing Tesla cars.
That smile happens every time 😂
Thank you for the vid.
It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission...now please open the Tesla App and buy it already. 😂
😂
It's clear who wears the pants in your house. 😂😂😂
Great car.
What part of NY? I’m on Long Island. Yes the 21” Uberturbines are utterly useless in the winter...but they look really good. Lol.
@@SlowAsianDriver Saratoga region.
Helpful video, but living in the Northeast it's not just snow. It's potholes too. I'd love to get the P, but I suspect leaving the 21's on in summer would even lead to a lot of blown tires and/or bent rims.
Thanks pal. I already popped a tire in March 🤦🏻♂️. The roads are utterly horrible on Long Island.
Do u still have the performance y? I’m in Long Island too. Waiting for delivery
Assuming price isn't a factor, here's a simple decision tree:
Kids are expensive AF…lol. Can’t go wrong with either. Good luck and thanks for the kind words.
@@SlowAsianDriver do you mean that MYP is not as comfortable as MY LR?
MYP will ride firmer than MYLR. It's more like a sports car than a comfy SUV.
Great video man!
Thanks pal!
@@SlowAsianDriver Great! Thanks for all the info, i'm very excited
I totally agree, the added fun you get from the P is well worth the extra couple thousand
Ordered a MY-P on august 10th and my delivery date is Sept 6th! Could’ve been as early as the 3rd but I will be out of town! So less than 4 weeks on a P!!!!
Just curious, did it cost you to edit your order?
Very good video. I bought a M3LR, with plans to buy the AB. But it is already so fast, I have decided not to buy the AB.
Thanks pal!
Performance all day!! Just the stance alone while parked looks way better👌🏻
The 21” Uberturbine wheels look so good in person.
Love the editing and music!! Great video!
Thanks so much!! I'm still a newbie at this.
We went with the model 3 and model y both performance. Love them.
Awesome!
Epic video man!!!! Well done 👍🏽
Thanks pal!
Great job thank you . I ended up with the long range as I need to use the car during the winters
Thank you! I’m sure you are enjoying every minute of it :)
Nice video. Helped me decide on the performance.
Good choice!
Great video. I am currently driving the Model 3 Performance, but my wife wants a Model Y as well. I was leaning towards the Cybertruck.
Happy wife happy life…that’s all I can say 🤣
Great comparo,am waiting for my Y Performance after driving my neighbor's Tesla 3 with the recent $2k performance boost, delivery day is supposed to be before 12/31/2020...
Thanks pal! Congrats and you are gonna love it!
I'm an owner of a LR for a few months now. The difference in cost could pay for a cross country vacation, although it would take a few minutes longer.
well technically LR would be quicker b/c LR has a 10% longer rated range than the P...so less charging stops :)
I went with Model Y performance, I got it for $53,000 with white interior and black paint. Original MSRP was $58,550. So I got for over 5500 discounted. The model Y Long range with the induction rims and black paint was only $1,000 cheaper. Yea would be nice to have more range but I choose for speed and looks over practicality :}
💯
I like the upgraded rims and would have got them on my Y but they only came in 20" wheels. Sadly, too many pothole flats on 20" tires for city driving. :(
LR With boost and 19 inch wheels will be more comfortable, plenty fast and you can fit a tow hitch.
It wasn't even a question for me.....PERFORMANCE! :D
💯
Tempted to try the acceleration boost I've test driven both the LR and the MYP that MYP is no joke, but in the end I had to get the LR for the 7 seats. Wish Tesla offered the MYP in 7 seat configuration.
I got tired of waiting for the 7 seat MYP and just bought the P. No regrets.
Same here, I really need the 7 seats.
I was all for long range but this video changed my mind lol ..performance it is !!!
Haha! YOLO right? Although if you live in cold climate you will need another set of wheels and tires.
Forgot what I was watching rocking so hard to this jam
🤘
My choice is the Model 3 LR AWD +AB
thanks a lot for the comparison :)
You are welcome Philip!
I have no idea what you talking in about
Just an update to my posts of almost a year ago.
I own an MY LR with ab. It’s wonderful, much more fun to drive and own than the X5 it replaced !
(Though I miss the split tailgate 😂)
That’s awesome pal! Glad you are enjoying it.
A new fan of your channel. Subscribed.
Thanks pal! Appreciate the kind words.
The price difference between the Performance and Long Range is only $5k now. So if you get the Boost, then it's only a $3k difference. Performance is a no brainer now. Especially if you are planning to sell/trade in your car later. Dealerships don't take Acceleration Boost into consideration when they price out your car.
Very true and Performance comes with All Season tires instead of Summer tires only.
Unless if you need 7 seats.
nice video, love the channel name made me LOL
Thanks pal! Love your channel name as well. If we can all make fun of ourselves the world would be a better place. ✌️
@@SlowAsianDriver exactly! everyone is too sensitive nowadays
Good luck!
This is VERY helpful. IMO, the boost for 2K is great for LR and still 8K less than P.
More than $8K, because you will need a set of wheels and tires if you live in cold climate. The P is only available with summer tires so it’s another $3K. Had the AB was available, I would’ve went with a LR+AB instead of the P.
I built a long range vs performance and it’s only 3k once you pay 2k for boost
that's because Tesla raised the price on the LR since last year by $5K.
Nice video! Thanks for the great explanation.
Thanks pal! Glad I can be of help.
💯
As of 6/6/2023, The YP has 21 in all season tires.
AB for sure... tires are cheaper than performance and nearly identical performance really. Much better value for the money
Thanks pal! Glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the support.
LR+Boost is the more sensible choice. Just read that the S & X refresh may come out as early as March. Fingers crossed.
@@SlowAsianDriver I know the boost makes it a stronger alternative but Plaid X I hope is coming soon too
I also have a Model S P90D w/ ludicrous and LR AWD Model Y w/ 20's for the wife - the LR is really quick (not brutal like the P90D but still fast) and feels super sporty. I think you will love adding the LR Model Y to your stable, especially with the boost
Havent gotten the boost yet but now I know what I want for my BDAY haha!
Any issues driving the performance over speed bumps and up driveways?
No issue.
MYP all the way. If money isn’t the issue just get the the MYP. If you’d rather save money go the MYLR route with the boost.
MY Performance with 19x8.5 Martian wheels + Pirelli summer tires will smoke that acceleration boost. Also, it’ll improve the range of the MYP.
Those 21” uberturbine wheels are freaking heavy almost 70 pounds with tires.
Martian wheels are amazing…however these 21” Uberturbines look great.
Can you get the boost upgrade later on or do you have to buy it when car is purchased?
Boost is an add-on option you purchase right on your Tesla App after you get the car. It’s essentially a software-unlock.
nice video..!!.. tempted to get the boost for my model y after seeing this video.. 🤔🤔😊😊
Thanks pal! Don’t think just do it…not gonna regret it 😁
Nice comparison video my friend.
Thanks for the video
Thanks pal!
Chose the performance. Range is barely affected by the uberturbine wheels. Neither is the ride quality according to most youtube videos about it. Decided firmly that the overall acceleration boost and cool asthetics with the wheels and spoiler was the choice for me :)
and MYP is so much better looking with the 21” wheels.
@@SlowAsianDriver dude so cool that you reply so quickly to us viewers :), that’s rare these days 👌👍
Lol…I enjoy reading all the comments. Thank you for your support.
How is range impacted with boost?
Boost has no effect on range…driving style does.
Performance ! By far !
YES! :)
Long range all the way, I never do 0-60 or drag race and range is king in EV world.
You are more disciplined than me…I just can’t help it…lol.
It is probably the appropriate place to ask. Why is there such big difference in 0-60 acceleration if LR is 514 hp, other is 534 ho ? Difference sounds way too big
LR: 384 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque.
LRP: 456 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.
That’s why. ✌️
Do you know if the Model Y MIC ( for Europe ) will also have the acceleration boost option?
I don’t know. But given it’s a software unlock I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t offer it.
yes we got the option now aswell in eu
Yes, it is available. I asked Tesla directly. Will be approx. £1,500 in the UK
Same reasons I decided to buy the Model 3 LR+Boost over the M3P. It arrives in 10 days!
congrats pal! my other neighbor took me for a ride in his M3 and it started my Tesla bug.
Great vid! I have a MY LR and I think its quick. I cant imagine how quick the Performance is!
To be honest, if you get the acceleration boost it’s not that much slower than a P :)
Both at a 40 roll would you say it's alot closer?
Does long range with boost still suck you back in the seat?
At a 40 roll there very little difference. Both will suck you back...albeit the MYP is more brutal from standing still than the LR+AB.
Awesome races. Keep it up!
Thank you!
Thanks pal. Yes that would be the best bang for your buck.
I’m getting the performance model.
YEEEESSSSSS!!!
Remember that acceleration boost cost a lot of money and don't come with mags, the price difference is not so far. so I get the P too.
