Thanks for the comment. Must have been fantastic to own a Cosworth back when they were new(ish). Not sure how much the Sapphires will be worth in the future or how much mine will end up costing, but I am enjoying the restoration... it's a bit of a dream car of mine. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment Carl and I am certain you will be correct in your prediction on cost! Stay tuned and let's see where we end up. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the comment John, it is great to hear know you think the direction I am taking with the Sierra is right. Like you, the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth is my favourite and I feel very lucky to have one... let's hope I still feel that way when it's time to settle all of the bills! Thanks for watching.
@@cornishcarcollectors humm I imagine that the work might cost however you’ll know it’s been done right. Paying for a Cosworth at a high price doesn’t guarantee a car that’s worth the money. It’s mainly why I’ve not bought one since the prices have risen so much since 2009. You’ve got an excellent collection of cars and this sits brilliantly amongst them. Keep up the good work and can’t wait to see you next videos 🙂

Thanks for the comment. Sounds like three excellent cars there. I am assuming you have seen some of the other videos on my Channel as you'll know I am a big MG ZT fan, and Ford fan of course. Thanks for watching, hope you stay tuned.
Never gonna be cheap to restore a cossie but least she getting done properly I'd say be north of 10k for what you having done but will always get your money back as they will only ever go up in price glad you updated
Thanks for the comment Andrew and good to know you think I am making the right choices with the Sierra. I reckon you can double the £10K... well, hopefully not quite but it is going to be expensive... going to live on beans on toast for a few years! 🤣 Thanks for watching.
I did think 20k originally but you will least have one of the best example of a seirra cosworth can tell you passionate about cars as taking it in your stride and small details like date matching the wheels proves this also great choice making the turbo upgrades and full engine build
Very Interesting too watch and your Rover 75 looks alot like my Old Honda Civic vti Aerodeck roof rack looks exactly the same rear and side windows ( though the vti is based on a Rover45 ) nice too see you Restoring a cosworth 4x4 aswell
Thanks for the comment, I am glad you enjoyed the video. 👍 My Rover 75 Tourer has been invaluable in supporting the restoration of my Sierra. I can remember the old Civic Aerodecks - good cars in their day. Thanks for watching.
Yeah mine was Green X reg December 2000 last of them didn’t have a Tape deck as standard like most Hillarious too drive sitting at 7-8000 revs going down road got nearly 20,000 miles out it was a Daily btw my Dad had a Blue 1993 Sierra p100 and we live near Glasgow and he sold in 2009-2010 really rough been welded 4-5 times since sold , and just 6 months ago i see a post on Instagram and its K951 STL. my dads p100 is now in cornwall aswell madness and it looks mint
Thanks for the comment John and encouragement to keep going with the restoration, I am going much further than planned but really glad to be doing it. Hope you stay tuned and thanks for watching.
Great concise update 👍 looks like you do nothing by half’s & doing things properly, now waiting in anticipation for the next episode. You probably already know so apologies in advance, but you can still keep the upgraded breather system without it breathing from the cam cover! You can keep the oil catch can but connect the two breather pipes to each side of the block one goes bellow the turbo where there’s a spare threaded plug in the block & the other breather pipe below the inlet manifold to the original breather port on the block, then attach the oil return bellow the oil level on the sump, you’ll need a hose union welding to the sump for that.
Thanks for the comment Ken, I really appreciate the feedback on the video and the restoration. Thanks also for the advice on the oil catcher. I am keen to get rid of it really, but let's see as the engine build and tune progresses. Thanks for watching. 👍
Absolutely love this channel. Proper work on proper cars. Promise us once you get 100k subs you don't get a Lamborghini Gallardo like every other car channel!
Thanks for the comment and for the feedback, I am so pleased people enjoy watching and following the things I get up to with my cars. 100K subscribers would be a dream and not sure I'll ever get there, but if I do then it'll be a Capri Brooklands, Mk2 Focus RS, Escort Cosworth and many more... not much of a Lamborghini or Ferrari fan. Thanks for supporting my Channel and watching the videos, I really appreciate it.
It's lovely to see 1 being done with care from top to bottom. Good luck!! I look forward to hopefully seeing your car at some shows. It will be a show stopper!! I'm jealous but not so jealous of the bills 😫 it will be so worth it.
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate your thoughts on the restoration. I'm hoping to get to some local shows in the Cosworth and to a couple of the national Ford shows... definitely Simply Ford. Thanks for watching.
@Cornish Car Collectors I will be there for sure look forward to seeing your car or cars depending if you take your other lovelies there. Got to say your getting my dream fast ford collection. Great channel 👍
Wow 😁 as they say "that escalated quickly" going to be an absolutely cracking saph when its finished, all bases covered, with bodywork as good as the mechanicals 👏😎
Thanks for the comment Ricky, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the restoration. Stay tuned to the restoration and hope to hear from you again. Thanks for watching.
I've been caught in exactly the same trap: namely buying a cheap car (not a Ford) with no intention of making it perfect, just driving it. Looking forward to all the grisly details in forthcoming videos. Good luck!
Thanks for the comment. Sound like you know the challenges and 'grisly details' of restoring an old car... it is fun one minute and frustrating the next. Confident I will get there and thank you for staying tuned.
Well done Andy a brilliant video as ever and great to see the Cosworth getting the love it deserves i remember the collection video and it was a good base for restoration and proved it was a good car to cover all those miles It will be stunning when complete and definitely one to keep with your lovely XR4x4 looking forward to seeing the updates when they come take care Daniel
Thanks for the comment Daniel, I really appreciate the support. As you say, I cannot wait to get the XR4x4 and the Sapphire together... I will be taxing and driving both this year. Thanks for staying tuned to the Channel and watching my videos, I really appreciate it. RUclips enables me to share my cars with whoever wants to watch and I am often overwhelmed with the interest and encouragement from you all.
@@cornishcarcollectors you are very welcome it’s a perfect channel for me I am a massive MG Rover fan and many of my family worked at longbridge on the production lines over the years until it sadly closed and I also love many of the fast Fords so enjoy seeing them on here! Fair play to you for saving them to enjoy and share them with us all
Absolutely brilliant update excellently illustrated i really enjoyed it just like the 1st one home from Scotland. Ive had 3 saffs in me time but when they were at the 5k to 6k mark and 2 a pennie to choose from on the trader. Ive a Mk1 FRS now and im following a few saff restorations on you tube at the moment which im tempted to sell the FRS and go back to a saff but in all honesty im probably gonna be ending up doing what you are at the moment doing a restoration as nearly everyone say they never meant to go that far but always do .. the saying if your gonna do a job do it propa etc! Anyway full credit at the car is coming along very nicely. .The purchase of £15.750 was in my eyes entry level and you got a good deal for even if the resto hits the 10K mark or a little more the car itself will be the investment of more without fail. .also sell the softlines get some cash in if you wanted. Anyway best of luck looking forward to the next update .. thanks for sharing 😎
Thanks for the comment Nigel and for sharing your history with your three previously owned Sapphires. Having said that, you currently have an amazing car - I adore my Focus RS Mk1 and would really struggle to part with it. As I am sure you will have seen from my Channel, I have been bringing my Focus RS back to a more standard look and really enjoying the car... I think they look brilliant. Do keep enjoying your Focus and thanks for following the restoration of my Sierra. Hope to hear from you again in the future.
Good luck with the build, I've recently completed a 3dr restoration James at Auto dynamix in Newton Abbot is a master of setting these up - also manufactures wiring looms for them. West Country retrims up Bovey Tracy are very good for head lining and looks factory when done. Can Julian at pro4 make you a new bulk head panel?
Thanks for the comment Peter and for sharing your recent restoration experience... good to hear from a local Cosworth owner. I've been fortunate and managed to buy a very good condition bulk head panel, which I'll show in my next video. Hope you stay tuned for the rest of the restoration, thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the update. We've all got projects we plan on getting to one day - hope you do yours when the time's right. Thanks for watching.
Enjoyed your saph cossie update it’s going to be completely transformed and nice all the relevant works done, well done it’s a fantastic car 👌 just love your saph Cossie
Your welcome 👍it’s great content and even tho it will cost you know that the saphs value is only going to go up so definitely will be worthwhile I’m looking forward to the next video, also now caught up on all your other videos too, great channel to follow keep up all your great work and videos
Thanks for the comment, kind feedback and sub... I really appreciate it. Good to hear from another fan of the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth. It is one of my dream cars and I feel very lucky to have it. I know I could have bought a lower mileage and 'better' car initially, but even the more expensive cars need this sort of work so my thinking is at least this way I'll have a good one... or at least I hope so! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment, it is great to know you enjoyed the video and thanks for following the restoration. The Crystal Blue Cosworths look great, nice to have one in your car history. Thanks for watching.
Sounds like a lot of work. Will be great once finished. Agree with going back to the original wheels. I had those 17s on a st24 many years ago but can’t beat original!
Thanks for the comment Daniel and for your thoughts on the wheels. Like you, I love the Softlines but the Sierra has to be put back on the original Lattice wheels. Thanks for following the restoration.
I can't wait to see the car when it's all complete. You will realise you have made the right decision when you see it finished. Don't be so honest with the Mrs when it comes to the budgets. 🤣 All the best 👍
Thanks for the comment and for following the restoration. So long as she does not watch the RUclips videos then I'll be alright! 🤣 Appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Lots of progress made already it’s gunna look great. I’ve been watching the 90s cop program Spender on RUclips where jimmy nails police car is a sierra sapphire cosworth there’s an episode called dance girl dance where he’s followed buy a mk2 Granada and floors the cozzy. Give it a Watch rough idea what’s yours will look and be like once done
It actually upset me watching the first video on the car, as it sounded like you were only going to do the bare minimum of work on the car when they deserve the full treatment, so l am glad to see you're doing a more substantial resto as you won't lose out if you hold onto the car as Cosworth prices are only going to accelerate, an RS500 sold recently for nearly 600k, obviously a pristine example but you catch my drift.
Thanks for the comment and for sticking with this series of videos on my Sierra restoration, I certainly have gone much further than originally planned! I am sure the values will climb, but I suppose they could go down too or stay where they are... all depends on what the world does next. For me though, I am doing it because the Sapphire Cosworth has always been my dream car... let's hope it still is when I'm finished! 🤣 Thanks for watching and hope you watch Part 2 and 3 videos, both of which are live on the Channel now. 👍
I just about have enoughf free time to go shopping..... wish you the best with this.. and...I wish... how do they seal the insides of the old alloys...they become porous ? and dont seal around the rim..?? N x
Thanks for the comment. The tyres have been off the wheels and the whole wheel painted, making a nice clean surface for the tyre to sit and seal against. Stay tuned and I'll show you in the next video. Thanks for watching.
Great video , you have been busy going to be a very nice cosworth once done , love all the other cars you have would like to see a bit on those and workspace etc good luck 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the comment John, it is great to know you enjoyed the video. My next video will be a bit of an update on the collection and the Channel we passed the 2yr milestone last week. It is also time to start waking the cars up after the winter hibernation, with lots planned for this year. Thanks for watching and for supporting the Channel, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for the comment Adam, glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks also for the recommendation although I am already in touch with Sierras R Us and they have been great. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment. As you'll see from the video, I have had the turbo internals build as a hybrid and if you watch Part 3 of my series on this car then you'll see the engine tine has been applied in the hope of doing exactly what you say... to reduce the lag. Thanks for watching and stay tuned to see how the car performs.
I put a 2L ford cortina engine in a 1.6l capri back in the early nineties, finding a propshaft that was balanced was a nightmare, they all fitted differently, ended up with two halfs off god knows what "i can't remember" just a massive headache with all the this wont fit into that then when it did fit it would be out of balance and thump against the tunnel at speed 😮
Thanks for the comment - you took on a big project with the Capri, but will have been worth it... both in making yourself something unique and the performance improvement. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment Lee, it is great to know you are enjoying my videos... I appreciate the support. Thanks for the comment, it is great to know you enjoyed the videos. The UJs came from Brookwells (Land Rover parts specialist in Plymouth) - if you get in touch with them they know the part that fits the Cosworth. Thanks for watching.
@@cornishcarcollectors Thanks for the reply, I did get in touch with them and asked for a UJ for a Cosworth but they said they only have parts for Land Rovers. If it’s not to much to ask could you please let me know of a product number or some sorts to help me get a UJ? Many Thanks
Labour of love, interesting viewing heres me bitching at it costing me 330 quid to get my 2005 Volvo S60 through its test today. That’s going to be one mighty beast when it’s done.
Thanks for the comment Gary and for taking the time to watch. Believe me, I have been doing some bitching myself over this Sierra! 🤣 Appreciate you following the restoration.
Thanks for the comment and sharing your thoughts on the wheels - it is a tough decision going back to the standard wheels, but I am trying for the OEM look. Hope you stay tuned to see the finished car. 👍
Thanks for the comment. The issue is knowing where to stop as it is easy to get carried away. Thanks for watching, hope you stay tuned to the restoration.
Great restoration, I think your mad but I understand why you’re doing it. I owned an 88 White Sapphire Cossie when I was stationed in Germany in the 90’s. It was my dream car as the Escort was too far out of reach. It would use a litre of oil for every 100 miles over 100mph on the autobahn. I thought maybe it was just my car but my friend had a 1 year old Escort Cossie with 12k that did exactly the same plus had multiple issues. Don’t get me wrong I’ve always loved them but I owned one and it spoilt the dream if I’m honest. Good luck with yours as I know it will be a great investment and look stunning when it’s done.
Thanks for the comment and for sharing your experience of the Cosworth... sounds great fun! I totally agree about what I am doing being "mad"; it was never the plan to go this far but one thing continues to lead to another and I keep agreeing to doing more. Should end up with a decent car at the end... if I ever get there! Thanks for watching, I hope you stay tuned and hope to hear from you again on a future video.
@@cornishcarcollectors You will definitely get there, I’m going to watch part 2 later. Please don’t get me wrong, I love the videos and I will be watching future videos too. Thank you for the content.
Thanks for the comment. The Lattice wheels were on the early 4x4s, which mine is. I believe the Snowflake wheels came in along with the '91 spec facelift (curved dashboard, etc.). Thanks for watching - hope you stay tuned for the restoration.
Understand the creation of a standard car but might have considered rebuilding the engine as a 2.4L with a stroker crank and updated rods and pistons. Did that to a cosworth I owned.
Thanks for the comment Iain; I imagine your 2.4ltr Cosworth build must have been a monster! Trying to keep mine as standard as possible, with a more modern twist. Hope you stay tuned and following the restoration, thanks for watching.
Looking forward to see your next video update. Once all the work is complete you’ll have a lovely car to take to shows & I think prices are only going one way⬆️. Did you see the R/S 500 that sold last week selling for just shy of £ 600,000 OMG. Good luck with the build .
Thanks for the comment Bill and for following my Sierra restoration - I hope it turns out well. I did see the RS500... crazy money, and I noticed in the same sale a Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 hit £100K so there's hope for my high(ish) miler yet! Thanks for watching.
I would like to ask you, as you know already the bills, was it worth it ? (From a viewers perspective it surely was! Been around here from the 206 video as a Peugeot/Ford owner.)
Thanks for the comment and the question. The Sierra Sapphire Cosworth is my dream car and I am really enjoying the restoration process, making this car my own. It should come out the other end as a really good example... so yes, I am really enjoying doing the car and featuring it here on the Channel. Thanks for the continued support. 👍

Thanks for watching.
My Rover 75 Tourer has been invaluable in supporting the restoration of my Sierra.
That Sierra cosworth going to be a really nice car. Looking forward to seeing when finished. Keep up the good work. 👍
Love to have a cosworth
Thanks for the comment and for watching - please stay tuned to follow the progress on my Sierra.
Well done Andy a brilliant video as ever and great to see the Cosworth getting the love it deserves i remember the collection video and it was a good base for restoration and proved it was a good car to cover all those miles
It will be stunning when complete and definitely one to keep with your lovely XR4x4 looking forward to seeing the updates when they come take care Daniel
Good luck with the build, I've recently completed a 3dr restoration
James at Auto dynamix in Newton Abbot is a master of setting these up - also manufactures wiring looms for them.
Really nice to see this update well done so far maybe one day i will finish my one 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed the update. We've all got projects we plan on getting to one day - hope you do yours when the time's right. Thanks for watching.
Great update
Thanks for watching. 👍
Great vid. Paint your garage floor 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment, I am glad you enjoyed the video. I knew someone would pick me up on the garage floor... it's a job for the warmer weather. 👍
Enjoyed your saph cossie update it’s going to be completely transformed and nice all the relevant works done, well done it’s a fantastic car 👌 just love your saph Cossie
Thanks for the comment Matthew, I appreciate the positive feedback on the Sierra and video. Stay tuned. 👍
Your welcome 👍it’s great content and even tho it will cost you know that the saphs value is only going to go up so definitely will be worthwhile I’m looking forward to the next video, also now caught up on all your other videos too, great channel to follow keep up all your great work and videos
Appreciate it, thanks @@matthewwalters7126
Great video and testament to a great car- I salute you. I adore these resto vids & have just found your channel. You have another subscriber...
Absolutely brilliant mate. Very much looking forward to your next vid. I too use to be a Sapphire cosworth owner crystal blue F reg. 👍
Appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Thanks for the comment Steve - great to know you think the car will turn out okay. I remember the Spender car, but will take a look at that episode. 😎
Thanks for watching and hope you watch Part 2 and 3 videos, both of which are live on the Channel now. 👍
@@cornishcarcollectors Already watched.
Great Vids! Loving the Cosworth rebuild. All the best buddy! @@cornishcarcollectors
great video
Thanks for the comment and kind feedback about the video. Thanks for watching and hope you stay tuned to my restoration and Channel.
Hi mate great video, try Sierras R us in Manchester for various parts
Thanks for the comment Adam, glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks also for the recommendation although I am already in touch with Sierras R Us and they have been great. Thanks for watching.
Could probably put a more modern turbo on it to reduce lag
Great content as per Bro✌🏼👍🏼🚘
Thanks for the continued support... glad you enjoyed the video update.
Loveing the video's pal just letting you know I'm pretty sure they're the wrong wheels for a J reg cosworth
Thanks for the comment Lee, it is great to know you are enjoying my videos... I appreciate the support. Thanks for sharing thoughts on the wheel; the pre-1991 facelift early 4x4s had the Lattice wheels (the cars with the square dashboard) and later-1991 cars (post-facelift) had the Snowflake alloys. Thanks for watching.
Hi, great video. Could I ask, where did you get the universal joints from?
Thanks
Appreciate you following the restoration.
Looking great but I do prefer the soft line wheels rather than the lattice wheels but I get that they aren’t original
Thanks for the comment and sharing your thoughts on the wheels - it is a tough decision going back to the standard wheels, but I am trying for the OEM look. Hope you stay tuned to see the finished car. 👍
Do it right, do it once. You'll have a proper sorted cossie and it will not loose money.
Thanks for the comment. The issue is knowing where to stop as it is easy to get carried away. Thanks for watching, hope you stay tuned to the restoration.
New subscriber ,🏴👍
Thanks for the sub Phil, I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy some of the other videos and look forward to hearing from you on future content. 👍🏻
I’m pretty sure that the wheels are wrong the later 4x4’s had snowflakes on
Thanks for the comment.
Wowzers this must cost a fortune. I hope you can make your money back on it.
Thanks for the comment. No plans on selling this one and am sure I am going to spend more than it's worth, but enjoying the process!
@@cornishcarcollectors Sometimes it's not about the money :)
Oh mine was a 4x4 cos worth
Different wheels to yours
Yours will have been a late '91 car as the early 4x4s had the Lattice wheels and square dash prior to the 1991 facelift. Thanks again for watching.
Well done….not in a horrible way…..but great to see someone else haemorrhaging money on a restoration the same time as I am! 😂
Thanks for the comment. 👍
I totally get it... it is nice to know there are other crazy people out there throwing good money after bad into these old cars. You only live once though and if they are your passion, well there is no better way to spend a few quid. Thanks for watching.

Talks cheap....
Good luck with the car tho man if anyone can do it I know you'll go through it with a fine toothcomb.
