Thank you so much for putting these amazing videos together of the things gary worked so hard for and loved. I think we all remember Gary's stories of driving his minker 323 and having the police helicopter following him and then about 5 police cars doing one of those maneuvers where they block you in.... I also remember the time he got back to the unit in his minker and brought with him "cops with cameras". Can't say I was best pleased that day 🤣🤣. However gary being gary got away with it everytime. It's a true honour to be able to watch this footage and realise what he did achieve in his too short life. Thank you so much.
🙏 thank you, an I hope this will be able to be shown as I said to you, to the next family generations along side the story’s to show his legacy of a life which was cut far too short 💙
I heard too many stories of all the newer cars he embarrassed whilst driving “the old girl”, I think the K1 was the only one he never got the chance to really drive.
I worked for Turbo Technics in the late 80's at the southern branch and it was the best 13 years of my working life. I still have a Minker 323 badge in my tool box. There was another car which was a MK1 3 door which was used as the development car which Geoff (the owner of TT) used as a sprinting and hill climb car. I drove this car and two black 323's and they were the quickest cars i have ever driven.... RIP Gary.
Did you ever see a black sierra where the ford badge was changed for four rabbits lined up having sex? im not joking its a car i saw when i was young it had a crazy bodykit and the ford badges were 4 rabbits lined up all doing each other from behind it had turbo technics logo an aswell it wasnt a banger either, it was in Leeds.

What a great video. I'd never heard of the Minker until earlier this year. The story is fascinating. And lovely tribute Gary Lloyd. This was a shock, and I managed to find the obituary from the local paper. What an amazing, kind, loveable, generous man. 😔💙💙💙💙💙

Nice lil vid. I am currently building a twin turbo 2.9 v6 engine for my capri which is planned to race in one for or another next year. Wow such a sad ending to what is an amazing story, being a previous owner of both a 2.0 & 2.9 Sierra XR4x4 as well as a XR4i back in the late 90's and early 00's which i no longer own 🙈 knowing about turbo technics as a company as a mate once owned a mk1 Sierra XR4x4 that was turbo'd by T.T , I have never heard of these sierra minkers and being a Fast Ford fanatic was nice to learn something new. 👌👍
Great video always loved those Minkers just a bit of special 90s magic, i remember seeing a Turbo Technics 205 Gti in a petrol station and being excited, they were really hard to spot as they did not look much different to stock, only a switch for low and hi boost and a little badge iirc. All rare cars so always great to see. RIP Garry seemed like a great guy and everyone should have a mate with such cool cars.
This was an excellent video, absolutely love this kind of thing, turbo technics and dimma specials are right up my street. Once had a turbo technics XR4x4 come into my work carpark and I was confused about what it was but had heard of the name.
Minker K1 2.9 V6 Colonge Forged aluminium pistons Nimonic alloy exhaust valves, looks like the XR4X4 an Granada Scorpio EFI but it was updated. 2 Garrett T2 Turbo Technics think they had a play about with the MT 75 box to put the power down, exhaust system upgraded and suspension very rare. These are my favourite Sierra because how rare they are K1 and 323 🔥😋
I always remember the first time i saw the simply sublime Minker way back in 1989 at the Earls Court Motor show. It was actually on display in a fabulous looking Purple colour from what i can remember & it certainly was a head turner back then & it's body work was just amazing ! I wonder if it was the very first one they produced & if it is still out there somewhere or maybe it was painted white later on in life!
I remember one of the motor magazines did a feature on fast Sierras back in the day. There was the Minker K1, a BBR Cosworth and another that I can't think of right now. K1's were an absolute animal
I worked on the ex Geoff Kershaw 323 Minker for years H702 WYT, it is still going strong, well after a couple of rebuilds/ incarnations. I can confirm what a weapon they were, still a blisteringly fast car by todays standards !

I bought an xr4i on a B plate for £250 in the early 90s ,nothing on it but she was a runner, I thrashed it to an early grave along with a 4x4 on a G plate
Didn't even know the Sierra Minkers existed lol being so rare i only knew of the Sierra Cosworths from the 80s racing in the V8 supercars in Australia until they got scapped in the late 80s top cars thx for the info
Alan Jeffries built mine about 22 years ago in an estate it was rapid never lost a traffic light Grand Prix 12 second 1/4 @ 115mph 164+ top end with the longer 5th gear mod blew it up replaced with a 420 brake 24v twin turbo lump in the end, rust killed it 😔
A lad called Malcolm Whitley who owned Mallys Ford spares in Leeds had a white turbo technics 4×4 sierra, can't remember all the reg no. But it was C###JEV that was around 1987/88 it was a single turbo with a switch that upped the power a bit...I personally drove the car several times.
Love the channel and a in depth review of builds. Do you know of any good shows that specialises in engine swaps/conversions that are worth going to without it being a boy racer show. Thanks
God bless him 🙏 what a legacy to have built up with his collection and more so his family will hopefully see the cars go where they need to go...prayers with you

The rarest Sierra is actually the 380kph+ Vega Missyl. With it's air pressure aerodynamic system, you are in another world. "Satellized" some would say. True connoisseurs know. 😇
Two amazing Fords. I to ask if they still ran the 4x4 running gear or just rwd and nice to see rare V6 twin turbos over the XR4T in the USA. Very sad to hear the owner passed away. Hope is family and friends finish off the rebuild. How is the Audi build going? Take care very one
@@brandonriley7668 that's really sad...I do believe that all his mates should finish it.. as a fitting tribute to him...Its something that needs to be up ... running..and driving again.
I was on the motorway south of Birmingham in 88 and an Audi Quattro S2 passed me at high speed followed at a distance by a Minker which was travelling much faster and it caught and stopped the Audi, the driver of it was charged with driving at an average of 122mph. The Minker was metallic blue from memory 👍🏻🏴
Correct me if I'm wasn't the bulk of Turbo Technics done by Aston Tickford Bedworth Warwickshire samw home as the Tickford Capri, Sierra RS500, Metro 6R4, MG Maestro Turbo?
Howsit guys .Suveer here Ford lover aswell . One question. I have a Ford falcon EL station wagon. Fuel pump could I use a v6 fuel pump for my 4.0l s6 ?
There happens to be a Minker that was imported to South Africa, to a family friend whom has an impressive collection. I thought it was an XR6I like usual but looked Abit, weird, since then I do not just judge anything by how weird they look until I've tried it. That thing kept up with the Cossie RS500 and almost with the XR8, the XR8 gave it the taillights but what an impressive thing to get to have experienced since not many people had these, shame we didn't race the Fairmont GT against it tho
Such a shame there is no footage of this driving or racing anything to prove it can do what it says.... looks brilliant and absolutely had alot of work done to make it look special yet subtle....
A shop owner near where i lived in the early 90's had a red K1 Minker.. Was it the single turbo one mentioned?.. probably, but it was definitely a minker as it stood out so much from the rest..
Moved to Melbourne from the UK in 1990, I owned a Sierra 4x4 at the time, wanted to take it to Aussie but was told I would have to do this & that to comply with Aussie Regulations, so I sold it in the UK. It was in Mint Condition, (Id had it from New). Anyhow driving through Melbourne & there was a showroom full of Sierras, all fetching Stupid money, Not 4x4's or Cossies or anything like that, so I was pissed really that I didn't take it down there, would have made a Killing.

The 323 looks to have a set of rouse recaros. Not sure if there were standard. Seems odd that the outside of the K1 was as wild, but had standard shitty seats. Sleep easy big guy. Great collection.
Does anyone know how many 1991 Sierra 2.0 DOHC GLX Estates TT did as a batch? My brother owned one that was from a batch, Picked it up second hand from a dealer in Bradford.
The wood on the K1 was specially requested by the first owner, if you spent £42,000 on a car back in 1990 they would pretty much fit whatever you wanted. He also asked for gold wheels 🙃😀

There were only 10 Minker ecu's built and the last 3 weren't fitted in to official Minker's. Ecu 10 was fitted in to a Tasmin Blue estate that had the minker engine, diffs and ecu which was broken for parts in the mid 2000's. I then bought the ecu and fitted it to a car I owned at the time.

I bought an xr4i on a B plate for £250 in the early 90s ,nothing on it but she was a runner, I thrashed it to an early grave along with a 4x4 on a G plate
Amazing car builts, Kind regards from sweden ❤️
A lass I used to work with, dad used to own the blue one several years ago.
She has lots of pics of it.
It used to be a West Yorkshire car.
bit of a tickford capri styling for the rear wing
What an epic video i love fords like really bad , im so sorry to the car community and to garrys family for your loss R.I.P Garry
Didn't even know the Sierra Minkers existed lol being so rare i only knew of the Sierra Cosworths from the 80s racing in the V8 supercars in Australia until they got scapped in the late 80s top cars thx for the info
Alan Jeffries built mine about 22 years ago
in an estate
it was rapid
never lost a traffic light Grand Prix
12 second 1/4 @ 115mph
164+ top end with the longer 5th gear mod
blew it up
replaced with a 420 brake 24v twin turbo lump
in the end, rust killed it 😔
H808VNP is absolutely stunning. I know they both have their place in history but.....😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
A lad called Malcolm Whitley who owned Mallys Ford spares in Leeds had a white turbo technics 4×4 sierra, can't remember all the reg no.
Thanks
Love the spoiler on the rear of the K1.
God bless him 🙏 what a legacy to have built up with his collection and more so his family will hopefully see the cars go where they need to go...prayers with you
brilliant video so sad to hear gary has died RIP GARY TRUE GENT ❤
Yes a car is just a car and can be replace even if it's special God bless Gaz don't know your videos to much enjoyed it to the end then what said broke my heart hope your ok buddy 👍❤️
The rarest Sierra is actually the 380kph+ Vega Missyl. With it's air pressure aerodynamic system, you are in another world. "Satellized" some would say.
True connoisseurs know. 😇
Ive read about the TT Minker cars ,yikes their quicker than cosworths😮
Could one only imagine having the Dohc SHO motor instead of the pushrod!
The rebuild most likely isn't going to happen mate no one wants to touch it
@@brandonriley7668 that's really sad...I do believe that all his mates should finish it.. as a fitting tribute to him...Its something that needs to be up ... running..and driving again.
What kind of ecu did they run was it after market or did they chip the ecu? Many thanks 👍👊✌
I remember seeing them at Ford Denton in the 80’s pre Cosworth days
I was on the motorway south of Birmingham in 88 and an Audi Quattro S2 passed me at high speed followed at a distance by a Minker which was travelling much faster and it caught and stopped the Audi, the driver of it was charged with driving at an average of 122mph. The Minker was metallic blue from memory 👍🏻🏴
Correct me if I'm wasn't the bulk of Turbo Technics done by Aston Tickford Bedworth Warwickshire samw home as the Tickford Capri, Sierra RS500, Metro 6R4, MG Maestro Turbo?
Tickford was in Warwickshire but Turbo Technics was in Northamptonshire originally i believe. I love fast Ford's
I love Sierra and I've never heard of these but I would have to have the 323.
It's 2.9 efi h reg he was a top lad in the sierra community.
Gotta love a 80s-90s unicorn
Howsit guys .Suveer here
Ford lover aswell .
One question. I have a Ford falcon EL station wagon. Fuel pump could I use a v6 fuel pump for my 4.0l s6 ?
Rip Gary
There happens to be a Minker that was imported to South Africa, to a family friend whom has an impressive collection. I thought it was an XR6I like usual but looked Abit, weird, since then I do not just judge anything by how weird they look until I've tried it. That thing kept up with the Cossie RS500 and almost with the XR8, the XR8 gave it the taillights but what an impressive thing to get to have experienced since not many people had these, shame we didn't race the Fairmont GT against it tho
R.I.P Gary. Condolences to the family.
mk 1 minker has lower front lights just like the RS200?
Such a shame there is no footage of this driving or racing anything to prove it can do what it says.... looks brilliant and absolutely had alot of work done to make it look special yet subtle....
A shop owner near where i lived in the early 90's had a red K1 Minker.. Was it the single turbo one mentioned?.. probably, but it was definitely a minker as it stood out so much from the rest..
OMG that Mexico 💙💙
RIP Garry 🙏
Such a shame! Great sentiments! Rest in Peace fella
Cool find, more vid like this :)
Great video never herd of the Minke s but then here in Australia we never got the Sierra s ( other than race tracks )
I did not even know these existed :O
EPIC I Love A Sierra Great Car. I loved the Xr4x4 One Love
That red one is in Dewsbury and still mint, still a Minker imo
Great video. Well said bud
That’s so so sad R.I.P Gaz .😢….big respect for those cars to dude great but also sad vid I learned something to 👍
This one is like mine, white hatch :D Hoping I will find the bumpers, grill, transmission etc..
Hi from durham mate👋👍 such a beautiful array of machines in one spot and pleased he done what he could👌 hope Gary can rest in paradise 🙏 but as the quote goes we can Learn from yesterday ...live for today ... and hope for tomorrow.... cos you never know what it can give or what can be taken away.
Hope you and your boy are having good times on audi build mate 👌 and was other Sierra cossy RS 500? thanks for your time be safe and see you soon 👍👋
I love the expend quote. I have never heard that before. I am going to keep to that for as long as I am on god green earth 🙏
@@TwinEngineCorsa I first heard it years ago but it never left me so it kinda hangs on to mind and always there to cherish every moment learn from every mistake and love for every reason but thanks again pal 👍
The gold wheels was the only thing Gary wanted to change…. He hated them 😂
Love the gold wheels 😂. Something we disagreed on lol 😉
Do you ever come across the Rouse sport sierra cosworths?
I have and I know the ex lead engineer from Rouse sport at the time.
@@TwinEngineCorsa haa no way. I did work around the corner from the place in Binley once too. One of my mates had one back in the day was nice. Was looking in your videos but couldn’t find one. Not many people have posted stuff on rouse sierra cosworths but guess quite rare
if sierra cosworths are easy doing over 100k nowadays i dread to think how much this gem would be worth! cool as hell
They are cool cars and be worth a fair bit but not all sierra cosworths are going for over 100k, its good condition rs500's that are getting that and thats because of their heritage
Wot amazing machines and wot sad news rip Gary
There were only 10 Minker ecu's built and the last 3 weren't fitted in to official Minker's. Ecu 10 was fitted in to a Tasmin Blue estate that had the minker engine, diffs and ecu which was broken for parts in the mid 2000's. I then bought the ecu and fitted it to a car I owned at the time.
I still have its 3.14 diffs in my twin turbo, fitted the engine into a mates xr4x4. Here it is ruclips.net/video/7zfw7cHu5EI/видео.html
@@Theclarksonmtb I should never have sold the car I put the ecu into. I'm still kicking myself over 10 years later
*OH WOW MY MATE HAD THE 5 DOOR* - it just looks like a Sierra with a badly fitted body kit - which is what I always thought it was.
Even the badges looked after market stuck on. I always thought he was BS-ing me that they were a real thing. This would be about1989??? It was very fast, but TBH they had a lot of incredibly fast Fords. They had a Mk2 Escort 2 door estate with tunes Xflow in it that was insanely fast. Orange and black. The Sierra was white. EDIT - it was the one with the big wing.
Big wing = RS Cosworth
What happened to those two cars?
I was once taken to boy scouts in an a custom twin turbo XR4i conversion by my friends older sisters boyfriend's who always has really cool cars (I only really remember the Ford's) and I remember ungraciously saying that's not a Cosworth it can't be the fastest Sierra there is, and the driver saying Nah lad they are only a two litre turbo, this is a 2.8 twin turbo its good for 178! I wonder if it was one of these?
The earlier 2.8 tt280 was the rarest TT Sierra iirc, I owned it 😎
Never hears of these i was surprised when i heard of the rare Rouse saph cossies, ive never heard of these the front bumper looks like an RS200
I've known Geoff all my life, he was friends with my Grandad, lovely bloke. I believe he rolled his Minker at one point. Edit, although, thinking about it, it might have been a Lotus that he rolled.
