- Check out how to create storage space in your attic if you have big spaces in your trusses that could be used for storage containers or Christmas decorations. For the price of 2x4's, OSB sheeting, and screws this project will cost between $175-200 to complete. Thats a lot cheaper than buying a storage building or renting a unit.

How do you create load bearing?
I have vaulted ceilings/attic and I’m pretty sure your not supposed to put any weight on it. How would you reinforce it??
What is the thickness of your osb.
Likely operator error but I can’t find the link to your 1st video. Help!
How did you get a whole sheet of plywood in there?
How big is your access?
Because mine is 20”x30”
My question too
Have you used the Attic Dek system? Not real sure about it and would love your thoughts
looks expensive for what youre getting.
I recently put in 5 4x8 boards in our attics for all our seasonal decorations. Still have a lot of space left.
How did you actually secure the 2x4s... like how did you reach past the first one to install the others farther back?
Yes it was tricky, it can be done. A little flexibility and patience.
I could really use that kind of a space myself but it seems like it would get really hot up there and be bad for most items.
depends on the climate. Also most things you could store except for candles, candy, things that melt you know
Trusses are not rated for this - and not everyone will follow our advice. You’ll get away with it most likely if you keep the weight light but cracked drywall below or worse structural failure if someone in the future does decide to store their weightlifting equipment is possible. Definitely doesn’t meet code requirements. Having said all that if you use common sense, it’s a nice project.
yep for sure! Def not for super heavy stuff to store, and you probably don't want to carry heavy stuff up there anyway.
Mm naa
