Just play it again, the areas are so vast and somewhat puzzling that you can easily forget stuff. Start again on a harder difficulty and I'm sure you'll have fun if you go with a slow pace throughout the areas.

So I just killed sloth and I wanted to know if when farming souls I should spend them on getting more levels or save them to buy the better armor? Or is there any other use for the souls? My understanding is that there is no reason to buy any health crystals or the other vendor things

I played the game a long time ago so I really can't remember but I think level up is the way to go since it gives you points for upgrades, I think.
