I really hate it when people claim a gameplay mechanic that you are supposed to use "breaks" the game. The dodge counter is NOT broken. You need pretty good timing to pull it off consistently and by doing so, you are awarded with a counter attack that does high damage. It's a reward for getting the timing down, and on higher difficulties, if you mess up the timing, you're getting hit for a lot of damage.

@King J. Grim I suppose that's fair. Although 1 and 2 felt very similar. In the sense that 2 clearly builds on 1. While I do not know much about darksiders in general, apart from what I gleamed in your videos. There was one Idea about this battle lass and the 7 sins that I wanted to share. How about introducing a "Thematic Hierarchy" with the 7 sins, I.e make Fury fight the deadly sins from the one she indulges least to the one she indulges most. Like her build mostly gives off a hint that she is not all that glutinous, meaning the first boss she fights is gluttony, but since her literal name is "Fury" then the sin of Wrath will occupy the high echelons of the boss list. You get what I mean ?
With regards to the humans, if you save them out in the open world and then interact with them in Haven, they all have something to say. It might be quite small but it definitely helps to show how Fury might slowly be turning her opinions of them around. They fact they find a way to survive the apocalypse means they aren't quite as feeble as she first thought.
I'd say they didn't have much time, possible, to work the finer things into the game and the idea was there but couldn't execute it. My fav would be from the series would be Darksiders 2, Darksiders, 3 and then Genesis.

I tried to like this game. I gave it some time before playing it again. But after finishing this, I cant help but hate my experience. My main issue were the enemies and a lack of polish. Enemies felt way too spongey and took way too much damage on normal mode. Weirdly, even story mode can be pretty hard. But that felt more fair with enemies not soaking up so much damage. Boss fights especially. I genuinely hated my time with the second wrath fight. I had no idea why they thought having him heal and fight other enemies was a good idea. It dragged out the fight. The lack of polish speaks for itself. Even on ps5, the game would freeze in place to load, and you can still see the game load at the edge of the screen

It seems the devs were inspired by Bayonetta but forgot to add actual combos into the game. Imagine that instead of damaging strike for perfect dodge we had a ~couple of seconds of time stop to do combos. The problem with DS3 combat system is that it is very skill independent: you need to learn perfect dodge timings and that's it! It gives you no room for "get good". It's hard for me to comment on this cause I just find myself agreeing with pretty much everything you said here and I'm also just fully on board with the story changes you suggested so I'd say good job! :D However I gotta say that even after having replayed it at some point in the last like year or so and now also being on board with Darksiders 3 I still just hate the souls-like elements here and they for sure drag down the game for me personally also, and I know it's a bit of a nit pick, even tho I love the hollows I would have loved them even more if for the visuals of them they would have something else than the ssuper saiyn thing of "SLAP A DIFFERENT COLOR ON THAT HAIR!" As for Strife's game I still think a third person shooter in the style of Vanquish would fit AMAZING but Genesis was so much fun that I could also see a twin stick shooter.
Darksiders 3 is so riddled with missed opportunities and regressions of what made the previous two so good, it's a tragedy. While the Hollows were great, gear load outs and varied tools and gadgets as unlockable were sacrificed which while they were broken in some areas, it made trying the game out in different ways, where as Fury had one game plan of gameplay, every time. At least in my experience. A unique talent system or stat menu often seen for souls-likes for level ups was replaced with THREE mundane 'big number go up' stats, and that's the big ones for me on TOP of what you have said, which I agree with 100%. Fury's biggest 'sin' is that she wants, nay, DEMANDS to be the leader of the four horsemen, yet if the chips are down and they fought, I wouldn't believe for a second that she would stand a chance against either of them. At least with how she is represented in this game. She feels like the absolute weakest of the three and I feel like she deserves better.
I agree with that. Having Fury be the potentially strongest of the siblings, is an idea I kind of like. As she is held back by her rash personality. But... story didn't do a good job.
Even after finding myself enjoying Darksiders III after knowing the mechanic, this is easily my least favorite game in the Darksiders, its Dark Souls-eck difficulty can get too brutal at times, the bosses (aside from the final boss) are all too basic, the crappy "being able to be hit out of a Perfect Dodge by an Enemy" concept is INCREDIBLE stupid and the story, while can be enjoyable, as a lot of Plot-Points that never got resolve (like who was the one who killed Rampage? What's the Deal with Abraxis?). Its no surprise to find out that all of those was due to both Darksiders III being rushed, and the fact that it was created by different devopers, it makes me wonder what it would have been if Gun Fire Games were the ones who created and had it been given more time. I still enjoy the Darksiders series overall, and I am looking forward to Darksiders VI when that comes out, I just wish that Darksiders II was SO much more then what we got now.
It took me 6 tries to get into Borderlands 2. That was my first entry to the franchise. Each time i played it i dropped it....over and over. So will war
The only one who seems to understood his real meaning was Strife
War learned about trust and values (his line right before killing abaddon implies this)
when before he was so mission oreiented nit caring abiut anything but the Missuon
Death Could not let go of his past and The Sins he did to the Nephilim
But he Learned about his Power and His Role
So when absolom reached out and Death ignored him he Learned to not Hold onto the past and Look to the future
Fury is Literally her entire game her pride Wrath Gluttony lust etc. Consumed her
She Never once tried to look at the bigger picture
And It almost costed her life
When she Did underatand something she was shaken and Cought off guard to be A pawn in a game
But she overcame and Still has learning with humans
Genesis reveals strife looked at the bigger picture thousand s of years ago
Its not explained in a Game so i will give you that
But the Horses exist on a Serperate plain of existence
And should be Protected by The councels forces
The location of this plane of existence is hidden and cannot be accessed easily
It's hard for me to comment on this cause I just find myself agreeing with pretty much everything you said here and I'm also just fully on board with the story changes you suggested so I'd say good job! :D However I gotta say that even after having replayed it at some point in the last like year or so and now also being on board with Darksiders 3 I still just hate the souls-like elements here and they for sure drag down the game for me personally also, and I know it's a bit of a nit pick, even tho I love the hollows I would have loved them even more if for the visuals of them they would have something else than the ssuper saiyn thing of "SLAP A DIFFERENT COLOR ON THAT HAIR!"
As for Strife's game I still think a third person shooter in the style of Vanquish would fit AMAZING but Genesis was so much fun that I could also see a twin stick shooter.
It's a good game, especially being smaller scale after the bloated Darksiders 2.
It constantly balanced between good and bad for me. I wish I liked it, but sadly I don't.
Ngl, i actually enjoyed Darksiders 3
And there is nothing wrong with that!
I wish I enjoyed it.
Isn't the Hunter from Darksiders 2 the first human the franchise?
Fury was awesome. Other than that, most of the game was pretty mediocre.
Yep.
If anything, I really want a Genesis type of game with Death and Fury working together.
Thank U & here's a sub and like 😀👍
Thq came back as nordic thq but i think they want to to take a break from darksiders
I would love to see the next darksiders to play like dmc it would be a contrast to how darksiders played like God of war
It took me 6 tries to get into Borderlands 2. That was my first entry to the franchise. Each time i played it i dropped it....over and over. Until one day i pushed myself past it all and reached Sanctuary. To this day. It is by far one or my favourite games, with one of my favourite villains ever to grace fiction.
Sometimes you just gotta put your head down and plow through to get to magic.
But that being said. This game was ass and is just another pile in the land fill that is modern western gaming. 😂
Dudes back wtf
I enjoyed this game. I think cause it reminded me of Metroid in some ways. Like Metroid and dark souls had a baby
For me it's a great game shame it's full of glitches but fun nonetheless
I'm happy that you enjoyed it! Do not let my own misgivings change your opinions!
A seriie without good game in it 3?
I enjoyed the 3rd darksiders
