    Personally, I don't think Noelle would risk the Roaring _solely_ to escape from reality. I think that, if she comes to realize that the Dark World wasn't a dream after all (even in a Pacifist route), she might create one in the hospital in order to save her father.
    Think about it. If monsters can't do magic in the Light World, as explained in this video, but they CAN in the Dark World... If you were in her shoes, and someone you greatly cared about were hospitalized and possibly dying, wouldn't you risk anything to save their life? Her dad is, in her mind, the only family member she has left that actually cares about her. _Of course she'd risk it for his sake._

      Personally, I had the idea that Rudy Holiday may die before this point in the story arrives. If that happens, it fixes both aspects of your idea there, making so Noelle CAN'T simply heal him with the dark world, but also makes her reach her breaking point- she has nothing left except a cold and restrictive mother. That makes it no-longer JUST about escaping from reality. It's about making her own personal "heaven"- the Angel's Heaven, that is- one that has everything she wanted. Her dad, her sister, a kinder version of her mother. A place that is required by the prophecy to be banished by the heroes, thus preventing the world from ending.

There's also proof that monsters turn to dust by talking to someone in the graveyard during chapter 2 where he says they buried a hammer at the grave with a hammer on it to immortalize that person's spirit like how in undertale they would sprinkle the dust of a monster onto an object before burying it.

    A theory of mine is that what happened to Dess is related to everything between the Holidays and Dreemurs. Considering how close Kris, Asriel, December and Noelle were as children, prehaps the four explored the bunker at some point and fell into a particularly dangerous dark world. The four got into a fight in which Noelle was so scared that she summoned a blizzard, killing Dess and Kris (who ended up needing the player soul to survive) and traumatizing Noelle and Asriel. Noelle repressed her memories, yet is still capable of casting snowgrave and killing others when pushed, Asriel left for college in order to distance himself from the town and what he saw, and Kris has distanced themself from everyone around them both out of trauma, and because they are partially controlled by the player. Asgore took the fall of what happened to protect his two children, causing Mayor Holiday to fire him and Toriel to abandon him out of shame.

    • @bearturtle6058
      @bearturtle6058 2 года назад +4

      I think that's unlikely. If they did enter dark worlds in the past, her level would be above 1. And she also needs the Thorn Ring to cast it. Something I just noticed that debunks my other theory.
      If it did happen, I think that instead of them having a falling out, They fought an extremely powerful enemy they were struggling against, and Noelle was forced to cast Snowgrave, the only spell that was strong enough to defeat it in time without them getting hurt any further. Knowing how dangerous snowgrave can be, Kris and Dess got caught in it on accident, despite not being the main targets. Leading to Dess' and Kris getting frozen. Casting the spell Drains almost all of Noelle's energy. She looks horrified at Dess' frozen body as Asriel screams her name before passing out. And maybe they made some deal with the entity talking in all caps at the start of the game to save Kris by putting the soul in him. With Asriel doing the talking, while Noelle was too scared to think and not lucid. Kris being a human could be related to why.

    "-and banish the Angel's Heaven"... that line from the prophecy seems to imply that a PLACE is being banished, rather than a person. I think that is fitting to the theory that Noelle could be the one who creates the final fountain, as obviously the heroes won't want to banish Noelle. They just want to save the world from the dark fountain, which is this case, IS "heaven", as created by the angel. It is HER heaven. One that brings back everything she wants. If I had to guess, Rudy Holiday will probably die before that chapter arrives, being the final nail in the coffin for Noelle to create the fountain. Here’s my theory on where Dess is: She and Asriel decided to go to the bunker with Kris and Noelle, after Kris claimed that there was a monster living there (as a prank, of course). Then, they all got stuck in the bunker, and Asgore was sent to rescue them, but was able to only save everyone but Dess. After that, Asgore decided to go alone into the bunker, but there wasn’t even a single trace of Dess, and he returned, fearing that he too could get locked in. That resulted in Asgore being fired and divorced, as well as Kris’ fear of the bunker. Dess was able to create a Dark Fountain, and came in contact with the Titans, who made a bargain with her: They will let her return home, but only if she acts as their Knight. As the Knight, Dess gained the ability to create Dark Fountains, and travel between Dark Worlds without having to travel through the Light World first, but couldn’t return to the Light World herself, as the Titans wouldn’t allow her to see her family-until they caused the Roaring.
    To cause the Roaring, there needs to be two Dark Fountains in the same Dark World, and those fountains can’t be opened directly by the same individual. They also gave Dess a Shadow Crystal, so she could see the Light World areas each Dark World reflected, and Dess’ first stop was the abandoned school classroom, Card Kingdom. She fought each of its four kings, and found that the best match for the candidate for the one to guard the existing Fountain, and to open another one, was the King of Spades. She disposed of the other three kings, before deciding to travel between the different Dark Worlds to see her sister, and hoping to see Noelle again, Dess opened the Cyber City Dark Fountain, and instructed Queen to get Noelle to make another Dark Fountain. So, what do you think about December Knight?

      Now THIS is a cool theory, it's actually pretty likely, although how would Dess just... disappear like that? Maybe she was sent into the Dark World, instead of creating a Fountain.

  • @GiftOfKnowledge-np9vg
    @GiftOfKnowledge-np9vg 2 года назад +21

    My personal theory is that, indeed, Dess is trapped in a Dark World. And what’s more, Kris know this, and saving her is what motivates their actions as the Knight.
    One reason I think this is that it would add to the whole separation of player and character thing, and allow for a resolution where we can still control Kris for the end without much moral duplicity. See, we already see a lot of ways Kris is made to be very distinct from the player; with their own name, a gender you’re unlikely to share with them, they can wrestle control away from you, and are seemingly acting in opposition to you as the Knight. They are not someone to project your self on like Frisk felt like. All that’s missing is them having their own goals totally distinct from your own. Saving Dess by making Dark Worlds to search is one possibility.
    What’s more, it’s a motive we could agree with when we, as the player, learn of it. Say in the end game we end up having some form of dialogue with Kris and acknowledge them as their own person; resulting in us learning of this motive and agreeing to help. This allows the player to still control their character, while acknowledging that separation and concluding the theme.
    The other reason I think this is...okay, so there are these unused assets of chapter select options for Chapters 8,9,10,& 0. Now, crazy as that sounds, I generally don’t think they’d really have that big an effect on things; as I figure they’d probably be Deltarune’s equivalent to New Home, maybe True Lab too. As in, collectively. Short, conclusion-y climaxes that don’t actually add that much to the run time. If they exist, they’d likely have just 2 effects I think:
    1) We visit more locations in total, and
    2) There being a chapter 0 implies a prologue chapter. This is relevant because it means Kris was there for something significant that happened before that start of the game, which would likely be the disappearance of Dess. It also might mean they were in a Dark World at some point during that course of events. So, it’s just a possibility right now, but Kirs ending up in some Dark World prior to present events and seeing Dess disappear there would line-up with the implications of a chapter 0. (If it exists, which it may not.)

    Personally, I don't really buy into the idea that Dess could be trapped within a Dark World. Why? Well, near the end of chapter 2, it has been implied by Ralsei's words and the imagery shown for the Roaring that three total dark fountains existing would trigger the cataclysmic event. So even if it is a possibility, I don't really believe it is probable if what Ralsei has stated so far is indeed true. If there truly was another dark fountain in existence that we aren't shown of, how could both worlds remain stable? Before you say anything about Gaster, he is an entirely separate can of worms, and we still have an incredibly vague knowledge of his intentions and what he is capable of. Just because he was implied in Undertale to have been scattered across time and space does not mean that he has god-like powers. He is a man of mystery, and as such cannot be used as a quick justification.
    This is just my own small take on the mystery of Dess' disappearance, and we still can't be entirely sure of the legitimacy of Ralsei's words, so it's debatable. But, what do you all think?

    • @marctaco2624
      @marctaco2624 2 года назад +1

    • @Nara-mw3by
      @Nara-mw3by 2 года назад +1

      That is a possibility, we should remain skeptical of Ralsei and try to keep our view on him as neutral as possible for the sake of theories as some of his actions in chapter 2 can be considered questionable. I know a lot of people use the tea theory to argue that Ralsei has ulterior motives, but it must be kept in mind that his tea heals Kris almost as much as Noelle's (10 HP difference gap.) and it can be justified since we've never once had any indication via character dialogue that Kris and Ralsei were acquainted before the game began.
      Once again, we shouldn't really hold that many biases on Ralsei as we don't really have too much information on him yet.

      I think it almost definitely has something to do with the Bunker that's locked that has the Gaster noises. I mean, come on. It was said Dess got lost in the forest near the graveyard so it's very obviously HERE that she is at. Maybe THIS is the 'Angel's Heaven', in other words, the place which generates the dark fountains. I imagine a lab of some sorts with the right scientific equipment could manipulate the photon readings. What if Dess is alive and is a servant/lab assistant of Gaster?

    Interesting how, in Queen's mansion, the moon at the window in Noelle's room is baseball-shaped, while Dess is mentioned to own a bat in chapter 2... Realizing this might be more than a coincidence, probably just a minor detail compared to other elements but it still seems to give more evidence about how much scarred Noelle is by her sister's disappearance, and eventually how much she tries (consciously or not) to find her.

      I’d say the better evidence is that there’s a book about spells in the librarby seemingly written by the Deltarune version of Mad Jick. I have my own DESS holiday theory, a theory so crazy it would rival matpat.
    Level 1: DESS and asrial dated/were friends.
    Level 2: THE DaRK WoRlD was still infecting hometown in the past when they were younger and AZZY and DESS discovered it. Just like Kris and Susie.
    Level: 3 AZZY and DESS were the previous generation of DELTA WARRIORS. They had their own adventures maybe pizzapants, bratty and catty all visited the dark world, possibly.
    Level 4: The “Angel’s Heaven” was driven back but DESS was left behind in the dark world somehow…. She became a ”lost girl”.
    Level:5 Asgore fails to find her and losses his police job and his wife tori. Asrial can’t get back and goes to university (possibly to look for an academic solution from a certain Doctor)
    Level: 6 DESS is going mad in the dark world but learning it’s secrets. By becoming the KNIGHT and releasing fountains she might bridge light and dark worlds?
    Level 7: theory …our choice doesn’t matter because when azzy returns. The old delta warriors will have a plan to dive in and save DESS. “Don’t Forget, I’m with you in the DARK” this is their story not ours.
    If non of this happened/happens I still had fun thinking about this crazy sequence. Maybe I should make one of those fan-games and call it an unofficial prequel to deltarune.

This implies that equipping the Twisted Sword would actually decrease our control over Kris, at least somewhat. Actually, I think that Susie was teasing Kris for being human or something...
    In the light world, (I forget if it's chapter 1 or 2) if you knock on the door to a house, a monster will respond with something along the lines of, "Ooh, you're that human who lives at the top of town! Does it hurt to be made out of blood?" Probably meaning that monsters don't know what blood really is. I'm not 100 percent sure though.
    5:10
    I actually don't think that Berdly died there. I think that he might be in a coma or something, or maybe injuries that you receive in the dark world don't actually affect your physical status in the real world. U know. I don't really think Berdly will be much important in Chapter 3. Maybe minor changes but not major. Because it says our choices don't matter. The game's route doesn't matter. And I mean we won't have to worry about if Berdly appears in school or not. Cause there is none next chapter! It's a Saturday! And the ending of each chapter is the same no matter what. So I think Chapter 3 will have some minor changes if u do Snowgrave but it won't change the main storyline. So it is most likely that we WILL have 2 different allies in Chapter 3.
