Radio stations didn’t receive radio countdowns that week, they switched programming to news coverage and retooled their song playlists, which caused a lot of pop songs to drop off the Top 20 and some new releases failed to gain any attention. Sad times... there was a lot of uncertainty... malls were empty, people weren’t going out, sales fell and labels didn't want to invest. Artists that were still under development like her were being shelved or dropped. Pop music didn't fully recover until 2002.
