Watched Fat Albert every Saturday morning when I was a kid, all my friends watched too. A gi-normous bowl of Cap'n Crunch and Saturday morning cartoons was a great way to get the weekend started!
Used to watch every Saturday morning. Starting at 5:30 am, right up to 1 pm. The last show was at 12:30 pm and that was Fat Albert. Then Soul Train or American Bandstand came on and cartoons were finished for the day. Fond memories.
Wow, Saturday mornings in the notorious '70s, Fat Albert Cartoons were my favorites!!! I grew up in West Philadelphia, alot of the things they did, we also did, but never got in any trouble!!! Al we did was to have fun among ourselves, wow those were the days when everything was so simple then!!! Now, these young people out here has no clue towards anything in a positive matter!!! Right on Mr. Cosby, you helped us grow into people with promising lives!!!
Y’all boomers love complaining but didn’t vote to even help the current youth and parents of said youth have access to resources for a better today. We don’t want to hear it.
@@littlefinger5199Whoa, whoa. These are Gen Xers. And plenty of boomers and genxers care and have tried to do good. Hopefully you young people can fix things because they are a mess.
It was the only morning we could eat in the living room right in front of the floor model me my sister schoolhouse Rock fat Albert and Captain crunch😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The character of Fat Albert was first appeared in Bill Cosby's stand-up comedy routine, "Buck Buck," as recorded on his 1967 album, Revenge. The stories were based upon Cosby's tales about growing up in inner-city North Philadelphia. In 1969, both Cosby and veteran animator Ken Mundie brought Fat Albert to animation in a prime-time special entitled, "Hey, Hey, Hey, It's Fat Albert!" The special which aired on NBC, was a hybrid of live-action and animation. The music for the special was written and performed by jazz pianist/keyboardist Herbie Hancock in 1969 and was released on the album, Fat Albert Rotunda. For the animation portion of the special, it was neccessary to develop the actual appearance of each of the Fat Albert Gang's characters.
I new Cosby wrote the series but I remember buck buck. This was the only cartoon to watch on TV after school. Than it was PBS for zoom an the electric Co.
I was born in '82...but if you're even remotely old enough to have loved this show and you're still alive, then you've lived through some tough times. A lot of our heroes and peers have fallen. Thanks for posting this.
This almost brings me the tears as the memories flood in. All of a sudden I missed my lunchbox that had Fat Albert and the gang on it. I could, for just a split second, smell the newness of that lunchpail. Waking up and catching the cartoons on Saturday mornings. I know Bill Cosby is not seen in the most positive light. None of us are perfect but if we’ve put Good into the world let that good continue. Thank you for sharing these videos🙏🏾💞💐
I was born in 1965, grew up a 70's kid and i can still remember Sat morning cartoons, Fat Albert, the lunch boxes with those thermos's inside them, the smell of thermose not yet washed out LOL...weird how you remember some things. But this show, brings be back to being a kid again, sitting on the couch Sat morning, eating cereal, still in my pj's and all was well in the world, as long as we had Sat morning cartoons
Born in 1971 - my brothers and I watched Saturday morning cartoons religiously, and then at noon (at least in Boston), there was candlepin bowling. Fun times.
I remember this being one of the first cartoons I had ever watched. I did not speak English at the time, but I enjoyed this show nonetheless. This is a memorable classic.
Maaan, after Soul Train, go out riding bikes, hit the movies for Kung Fu Flicks, pizza shop and have my azz in the house b4 the streetlights came on. Had to clean up first....growin up in late 70s early 80s was the BIZNESS!!!

I used to watch Fat Albert when I was little, but I never understood the situation until I rewatched it in my adulthood. I understood which lesson each episode is trying to teach us. My favorite jokes in this show are the "no class" jokes from Russell mainly to Rudy.
@@arthro9259 Yeah. In my opinion, I think that show was intended for older kids. However, I'm glad that it has valuable lessons to teach them, and the best way to do that was to show an example of what not to do in order to learn from that. It makes me wonder if there would be a reboot of Fat Albert in the future. I kind of doubt it would happen, but it would be neat and cool if it does.
I watched this when I was a kid. I lived outside of Philly so when my mother found out Cosby would be in town for an event she found out what hotel he was staying at somehow. She took me there early in the am and we hung out in the lobby waiting for him. When he came down my mom went over and told him how much I loved Fat Albert and is a big fan. Somewhere at my parents house is a Polaroid picture of 8 year old me and Bill Cosby. I was awestruck and he did an autograph for me. I still remember being kinda grossed out cause his breath smelled of alcohol and tobacco smoke early in the am. I had no idea he was a predator back then.
As a young boy Fat Albert was a great show about a group of kids working out problems at the time had no idea what raises was ..then At the same time Roots came out really tough to watch at the age of 7 year old boy
Soul Train started off as a local Chicago television program in the summer of 1970. In 1971 Soul Train moved to LA and went national. Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids first appeared on TV in 1972 as a cartoon series.
Saturday Morning Cartoon Mega Marathon. Takes me back to the good old days. My Saturday morning cartoon viewing included the Smurfs, Fat Albert, Mister T, Bugs Bunny, Mr. McGoo, Scooby Doo, Josie and the Pussycats, Captain Caveman, Jem and the Holograms, The Alfred and the Chipmunks etc.
