I really enjoyed the Sumeru Archon Quest line. Just when I thought it was getting into filler, it turned out what we were doing was important. For example, when we got to Aaru Village and started helping that kid look for his grandpa, I was like "What are we even doing here and why? Why are we grinding the main story to a halt for some random thing?" But oh, it actually turned out important, that's good.
It was also a nice surprise that Nahida actually helped us find something out about our sibling at the end, unlike the other Archons.
The Caribert quest, despite being a slower mood, was well-paced and was written the way that it was because we were following a heavy story of desperation and what honestly feels like an injustice. It also gave us more of an understanding of why our sibling is doing what they are doing.
Not gonna lie, though, I wish the major world quests were voice acted, especially if they're going to tell us something regarding
- The major plot at hand (Enkanomiya main world quest, where [Spoiler]: Enjou tells us that Celestia is not from Teyvat)
- Our sibling (Aranara quest line, where they kept referring to our sibling as Nara Varuna and talking about how our sibling helped them during the Cataclysm)
- Dainsleif and Khaenri'ah ([Spoiler alert for the 3.6 major world quest line about the gaping hole in the sky] Yeah, uh, the newest big world quest confirmed that the Khaenri'ahns helped fight against the Abyss monsters during the Cataclysm, revealed Dainsleif and a one-armed sage helped seal up an Abyss hole in Sumeru's desert during that time, and literally took us to the door to Khaenri'ah. In a world quest. What the fuck.)
Either make these things be Archon Quests or give them voice acting if they're going to have information like that.
Yeah Katherine just casually told us the guild has the permission to explore khaenri'ah. Ahahha peak storytelling
Sumeru as a whole is worth it. Music is great. Story is actually good. Environment is beautiful and there is tons to explore since the desert portion is huge
it's the same with inazuma, thr music, lore of different world quests are better then I sumeru, puzzles, hazards everything and characters
I hate Sumeru
The desert sucks, it’s so ugly
@@cringeproof100 you want them to put flowers in the desert bro 💀? tf is this logic
I don't understand why someone hates sumeru. Dislike but actual hate? And how is the desert ugly. Desert usually nothing but sand. Sumeru desert in comparison have some beauty at least. But everyone feels different of course
Imo the revelation of Nahida and her interactions with Scara did indeed change the understanding of how the world of teyvat works was amazing
IMO her conversation with the doctor in the end blew my mind and had me fully interested in the lore for the first time

God dam shame the world quests aren’t voiced.

Not just its not voiced u cant skipp them.

Necrit is honest with his feelings here because he speaks from a perspective of a person who’s favourite main game doesn’t update much. And all those Genshin patches for him really feel like a lot. And I understand him here. I started to play Genshin because of WoW Shadowlands because it was so bad and updates were like every 8-9 months which is too long. And I’m pretty much happy with Genshin and the way it updates.
ya i dont think Tectone understands how much content they get. but he is also coming from the perspective of its not permanent content and they are just bleeding his wallet which would be true. but that is also because he doesnt play it casually like other people
The problem will arise when you do the same shit for 3 years.😂
@@TheReaIestOne You just don't main the game, simple. Once there's not much to do, just do dailies and play something else until a new event and patch comes out, It's not that hard.
It would literally take so little effort to make Genshin complete in itself. The fundamental problem is the game is in contradiction with itself. It wants you to grind for these upgrades and artifacts, and to come up with creative teams to tackle its challenges, but then there literally are no challenges worth a damn that justifies doing the former. If it's just a casual game, as some people say, and you're not meant to care about these additional systems, then why the fuck are they in the game? Why have resin at all? Why introduce new artifact sets with increasingly complex mechanics? The problem with it really is just this internal design flaw: it's totally inconsistent with itself. It has all the trappings of a grindy MMO where you have to work to craft powerful builds, and then gives you fuck all to do with it. All they would have to do to fix this is give you something to do with it.
This is kind of an Garbage argument. These mechanics are in the game because you can enjoy these if you want to but it's not a necessity. You don't need GOD tier artifact's but you can get it if you want to. It's just for the player's amusement. If they want to build a character further they can build it but if they don't wanna grind too much it's also ok since it helps people who have actual lives outside of the game
@@pratik9125 the devs said building characters is a main part of the game and if artifacts aren’t important why add a new set every update, your logic makes no sense
@@pratik9125
Except you didn’t understand his point.
Your whole counter-argument is based solely on the “god tier artifacts” when even acquiring a decent one requires months at least.
Not to mention that if it was for the “players amusement” Hoyoverse would have listened to problems the players that USE that system have pointed out.
It’s self-evident that the game is a contradiction, as they themselves probably didn’t know what direction they wanted to take with it from the start.
@@pratik9125
Not to mention that the excuse of “having a life outside of the game” is a just a phrase used to disguise the fact that those players are simply bad players, who couldn’t be bothered to learn to play.
Lots of people with “actual lives” grind and do the stuff. So, that is not an excuse.
All they want is easy access to a part of the game that they themselves don’t care, but do it anyway, just for 600 gems total if you obtain 36 stars. In other words, greediness.
@@pratik9125 it was the most well said argument he could have possibly made. If the game was completely casual then there wouldn't have been the resin system and constant updates to artifact system(unfortunately not to its core) also after "finishing the game" game design kind of flows the player toward grinding. If you have nothing to do in this game then why not spend your resin for today is the mindset they want the player to have and they succeed at that by not adding any end game ever.(which i hate) BUT at the same time grinding is compeletly pointless given that there is no end game to use that power level for. This contradiction is exactly what they are talking about which i think is a really good point.
The Caribert Archon Quest was extremely well paced, which is a good sign, it felt long enough but also short and did what it needed to.
Best part is there's no Paimon in the majority of the quest. I wonder if Hoyoverse could exclude Paimon more in the future.

7:49 Hellll no. I'm ok with Inazuma being your favorite, but you can't say Sumeru was a downgrade. Inazuma's beginning Archon quests were SO slow, while Sumeru was amazing the whole way through.
Personally i do not search for my country (india) references when i'm playing them, but god the amount of meticulous details for every aspect i found in sumeru made me a huge fan of this game including hoyo mix did splendid job of mixing arab music along with classical india instruments i close my eyes when i listen to the music and i feel home currently in the UK havent been back home in like 3 yrs so yeah i respect ur opinion cuz maybe u haven't seen much of references to ur home but in the future when it does hope u will appreciate it as well!
cheers tectone :D
you really can find these details in every region there's nothing about sumeru that sticks out other then it's new and recency bias which is a real thing, other wise you would be mentioning liyue secrets, inazuma murals and enkanomiya stuff etc there's always been 100% details into every region starting to get good at liyue and then maintaining the same value
@@exiledkenkaneki701 I do not know which part of the world u belong from but as an indian citizen i found some cultural and classical music references in sumeru and as far as other regions i do appreciate their contributions to the game and if the west wait for future updates to experience ur cultural themes and story related quests.
Yeah I cannot wait for the America region. I'm gonna be so hyped.
@@exiledkenkaneki701 idk what you are on, but sumeru is 100% based on south asian and western asian cultures. you can see them in the npc names, the food you can cook from sumeru, (theres actual Indian, Egyptian, or Arab dishes in genshin you can make)
mondstadt is inspired by europe, liyue representing chinese culture, and obviously inazuma representing japan
Same here..when i heard a bit of tabla it literally blew my mind
I'm a casual player and still I haven't explore the whole Sumeru.

He is coming from another space where updates are rare as fuck. Genshin looks crazy good when the updates are good quality and consistent, it is like Fortnite in the BR space. No one else can keep up and they are never as good.

I hope...
@@xLuis89x agreed. we can just take one single thesis and compare - cutscenes. Genshin cutscenes are easily forgotten when people label Honkai cutscenes as legendary ones. Genshin devs use in-game engine to create cutscenes which lowers both the cost of their production and their immersiveness, while honkai dev team has a whole group of honkai-themed anime/cutscene creators. It blows my mind to be honest. They can just abandon genshin and people will still play...
I defintely think a lot of what Necrit says comes from a standpoint of someone who hasn't really tackled min-maxing the game yet. And I don't even mean in a sweaty sense, it's just once you begin to develop your account past the base story of the game and into making actually strong characters, the game begins to grow stale because you've effectively maxed out what there is to do. But when you're coming from the content draught incarnate that is League, catching up to Genshin content in 3ish months probably DOES feel as good as he makes it sound, because that time to grow tired or just bored hasn't really settled in yet.
Necrit is a lore youtuber after all
Couldn't have worded better, had he experienced Genshin throughout the game's whole lifetime I'm sure his opinion would be quite different
@@Barraca02 you mean over-playing genshin to the point of getting burnt out ?

@@LuisBrito-ly1ko yeah but remember it takes 5 years to get God of War sequel

A point not mentioned here i think is that for a casual having a gamemode for just two weeks is often enough.Sure often they are just simpler versions of full games but sometimes just playing something like wannabe guitar hero or wannabe hide n seek for a short while will fill the want/need/desire to play such games.
many people i know get the itch to play a game they havent touched in years or play a new game then they play it for a week or 2 and drop it like a hot potato with the exception being favorite games and such. so to some regard it makes sense for genshin not keep gamemodes that drop off fast for a long time, the current timeframe for events is sometimes just enough for me to finish the events in a workweek. so i cant complain to that regard.
but i do wish we had an option to repeat certain story events based events like the dragonspine or gaa ones it could just be as simple as giving every player 1 token per month, that allows them to rerun 1 old event for a month but you can only collect the rewards per event once and non if you already did so it really could just be that simple.
anyways stay save n happy everyone.
Teccy one thing I think is a good idea is exactly what you're doing, I actually just got back after taking a break in 2.8 and there is so much shit to do, even though some of it can get tedious, the game doesn't feel stale like it used to.
Tectone community bubble is real here the comments section is trying so hard to echo in tectone echo chamber, someone need to put tectone into a reality check just because he is the loudest in genshin community doesn't make his opinion the majority.
Honestly if the dialogue was cut back, more dialogue spoken while you're walking around, better written dialogue that makes more sense, less throwaway characters, and the real biggie (for me) more combat and less cinematic shorts between those combats (one big 5 minute cinematic between 15 consecutive combats feels better than 5 one minute shorts every 3 combats)
This would solve so much if why genshin story feels like it drones on. It's a one piece story, it keeps building and adding but it never takes away or has real major twists. It's been good overall but it's over 150 hours of game play for a story that could've been less than 5.
for like 6 months now i only play abyss its the only fun thing to do in genshin
and even that can get pretty boring when the most interesting thing they do is bring on the enemies that have LOOOOOONG hp bars, move like crazy throughout the entire fking battlefield and evade all your auto targetted (can't toggle it off) attacks like nobody's business... aaaah 3 years and they still haven't cared to improve that...
You made such a good point about the characters at the end. Other games can try to make better designs but I don’t even know if hoyoverse themselves can make a better design than Raiden Shogun.
I think there is much others better designs than Raiden in the game
genshin story is great because it does well into making you care about the characters. Not in the way twitter 12 year olds are in love with them, but I'm talking about how you can appreciate depth, character development, troubles, interactions with other characters, habits, personality, etc. Sometimes that's all it takes for people to pull for them, and when the characters keep driving the archon quests and reveal more about themselves, it does make the story greater at surface level. It makes me want to watch all the theory videos about what everything else means underneath. I hope that makes sense. Now, this is coming from someone who loves stories/getting into that sorta thing. Story telling alone is not everyone's cup of tea, but it doesn't mean that a story is subjectively "bad" and that's totally ok. I also wish there was more end-game content, but I can still appreciate all the other fillers, new characters, exploring, playing with friends and artifact farming. I'll ride the genshin hype on my own until I, too, eventually get tired of it. I also do agree that some events should be made permanent for the sake of the stories/character lore.
That is one of the elements hoyoverse excels in
true
Xiao’s even was peak 🤧
That's hook you part and what made ppl spend ridiculous amounts of money
yeah, i could not agree less, and frankly you doing this much for a thing that if it were an anime it would globally dogged for being hot ass, is perplexing
I don't think veteran players are numb to the events because we're so used to them, it's more of the case of the events are just so bad that we're passed caring now, every single event story is just 95% filler dialogue and about 5% story, much like the one that's on at the moment, packed full of filler, had a small moment of story and then back to a shit ton of filler, I stopped playing and I'll try do the rest tommorow and most likely just skip the rest of the dialogue as I know full well how Genshin story event goes, they're literally not worth you're time to read, and the event gameplay are something you want to be finished with asap because you've either done it before or you're literally making some shitty drinks or something, personally I'd much rather a game like Dota that focuses on it's core gameplay and avoid putting in awful time wasting events entirely.
Play another game
@@Twinkle0610 I think it's better to point out the weak parts of the game so it becomes better than just saying "ok I don't like this par about this game that I like, so let's just leave it"

I definitely agree with necrit in every point the story is very very good most of the people who doesn't like the story are skippers or the people who doesn't know much about the lore like how much lore does tectone knows he just always talk shit about the story.
I like the events the way there's I always enjoy and have fun playing them every type of event the people I've always meet and played with always gave positive thoughts about events the 3.5 windblum event they game us such s huge lore drop the 3.6 also gaved us lore drop from Nahida story quest 2 and the new world quest the whole sumeru arc is such good maintained arc. Sumeru story is very very good, Music is just speciality of hoyoverse the environment, characters mechanics everything in sumeru is just sooo well made.
I'm glad that I still play genshin and I always will cause I love the story, lore, events and everything in genshin
Lore doesn't equal story though.
You can have a ridiculously giant lore like Star Trek or 40k, but that doesn't make every story in it good.
@@TheFirehands150 great example of lore =/= story is fallout 4 , lmfao
Let's respect the MC's loyalty for their weapon . "You have a level 90 max refined Skyward blade? Cool, I have a dull blade. L+ratio wishless no primogems you emergency food."
I love how everyone always ignores honkai impact. It does everyone better than genshin, exept of the world design. (Not world building, as that is a lot better in honkai, but just the looks of the world. I mean it is an open world.) Idk when people always say mihoyo is good/bad at storys etc. I always think you never even played a good story by them. Also events, character design, battle system, music, ENDGAME, overall feeling and so much more.
Also I wanna add genshins menus look prettier. But that is about it.
Playing HSR made me realize how important making an engaging dialogue means. I never get interested to read the dialogue in genshin, even the voice ones like when Fischl just talked a whole 2 paragraphs. And I agree with Tectone, the pacing is also the most important.
If you forget the voice acting and actually focus on the world quests in the game, the story is actually incredible. People tend to lose focus on the good things when they start complaining about other issues.
Yep. The World quests are better than the Archon (main) quests.
Bro, the story is not that good, why do you think people ask for a skip button.
@@wifi961 because these people play for gacha and thats about it..they just want primos and roll. Sad pathetic excuse for people pretending to play the game. Just addicts

Story wise I liked Inazuma's for sure. Even how the world evolved with removing the lightning throughout. That side quest wasn't that amazing but it was interesting to see the world evolve with quests. Similar to the fall of Ninguang's palace.
Other fav moment was being stuck in the time loop in sumeru. I fancy time travel stories so that one caught my interest the most.
Otherwise, the conversation which needs to have 3 paragraphs to say the air smells like chicken is ANNOYING, but that short cutscenes are great when you finally get to them. And that's sad that irrelevant things get drawn out so long.

The hardest challenge of getting to those great moments in Genshin is spamming the mouse cursor to skip through unneeded dialogue lol
That comment about the events is so true because if those events didn't give anyone primos, nobody would touch them lmao. You could argue that maybe the prop hunt one would be played because, well, prop hunt. But anything else, nah, nobody would bat an eye lol
Tbh genshin's story is GREAT but their storytelling at parts sucks ass
I actually like the mini games and events. Yes it sucks that they are time gated, but it is still great to have them. I really did like the Sumeru story rather than Inazuma, and I think it’s the weird way the story unravels (ex. Ayato’s trailer stating his part in the archon quest)
if you have fun with the 20% they are doing , imagine how much fun you will get once they care and put at least 50% or more of effort into the majority of the events (and I mean the majority of the events, not just the big events like dragonspine, lantern rites and such)
I am a 1.1 player and the way i play genshin is a play a little a day I actually don’t use resin everyday maybe condense it some times so i don’t waste that much resin and I chose to grind when I want. I usually plan ahead how much primo i can get in a patch and chose pull or save. I have only spent money 2 times for a welkin and 10 pull when i had guarantee. When events happened i chose to play the quest first all parts and then do the event when all levels are unlocked. This way it i don’t get burned out. if a story is long i skip it and then find a video where i can see it on my own speed and i can skip the boring stuff.
As sb who knows actual casual Genshin players I feel like I need to point out that most of them are not here(aka in comments or chat)...and they are usually 2-4 patches behind everyone . So from my experience the pacing of Genshin is actually still faster than most casuals would prefer.
Like yes for me those updates are slow too, but I aint a casual..and whoever in the chat said that a casual can finish a whole area in 1-2 weeks never met a casual in their life.
The archon quests are amazing but the story quests are usually stuffed with filler nonsense and i hate doing them.
FF 14 does this to an extent I feel, the updates with small stories and mixed with main story stuff here and there until big main story expansion
Well the updates are less common coming every 4 months. I'd argue it's much better because they add repeatable content
The side events are a chore I had to dip out the game the artifact grind felt so unrewarding. It got so tough to get upgrades, My Yanfei and Ayaka were getting nothing for months I could clap abyss so the new units just weren't grabbing me. Collei was the only one I really liked luckily she was doing work with an R5 sac bow even though people said she sucked.
Teccy hit the nail on the head with the character design though that Yanfei art is 🔥 she looks so good.
they need to get rid on most of the "must" npc interraction in main story tbh

Genshin set the standard for beautiful open world games especially for a free one it’s one of a kind and I love it ppl can use whatever weak points they want to criticize it but it’s one of the best games of this generation. It’s funny ppl act like perfect games exist and start picking at the smallest things like you don’t really need skill to be good at star rail or Genshin so if you wanna complain complain about a game like Fortnite that takes skill because HoYoLAB made games anyone can enjoy don’t take that for granted

He is a blind hater at this point
my main story-related problem with genshin is their approach with world quests. I don't find them engaging at all because for some reason you need to through nothingburger essays long dialogues with npcs (and in worst case scenario - to endure paimons comic relief role after every sentence). and it's all for some lore crumbs wich seems important at first glance but after closer look seems kinda... well, it either would be just some local story which certainly wont be relevant next patch or just "khaenri'ah was here, bye" without adding anything that makes meaningful connections with previous world quests. The last large .3.6 world quest, for example, made me kinda cringe over writers desicion to add some new form of "element" (khvarena) which was never foreshadowed in lore but nevertheless it suddenly has an ability to fight abyss corrosion.
I wouldn't have a problem with local stories so if PLAYABLE CHARACTERS WOULD BE ENGAGED
thank god someone said it. Genshin's story has great moments but the road to each of them can be pretty boring
Yeah, no Genshin updates is definitely not "misunderstood" if anything it's way too over hyped tbh, like don't get me wrong some of the updates can be really good, especially the events that have the playable characters talking to each other like the Albedo event and stuff.

i kinda loathed logging in on Genshin now. Then again i wanna earn primos so i can prepare for Arlecchino. And im still hoping that they put something like Simulated Universe / Elysian Realm that does not cost any resin. I just wanna stretch out the capabilities of my characters that's not in Abyss and really hope that they do something to at least ramp up the difficulty in this game.

8:00 no you're remembering the very end of inazuma when it was super hype. the problem is the rest of the inazuma story quest was not that good by any stretch. the pacing was slow, and then all of a sudden watatsumi was rushed and then raiden's reasons weren't even properly fleshed out and explained and now we have to rely on theorist channels to figure her out. even mondstadt had better pacing and that was just a prologue.
9:07 this explanation here was basically how inazuma started off and then suddenly you reach watatsumi and hoyo suddenly opens the bottle and pours out 3/4ths of the water in the bottle. i realize this is just a silly hyperbole but we really didn't spend much time in watatsumi island.
Inazuma main story quest pacing wasn't that good. it was ok in the beginning and all the way up until we meet the Raiden Shogun the first time saving Thoma. after that the pace of the story went so fast that it didn't kind of make sense. esspecially your favorite part with Kazuha. how did they get there and why did they go there. Kokomi wouldn't launch a very direct attack like that against the Raiden Shogun esspecially without the Traveler who she knew was following up on the delusions. We never went back to Watasumi to let them know what we found out. we did a training arc with Yae and exposed the Fatui plot to Sara.
you even agreed with a video made by your editor at the time saying the story pacing was bad in Genshin while he was doing an edit of an Inazuma story quest but you say Inazuma quest pacing wasn't bad here???
I have a question for you Teccy when was the last time you remember Mihoyo or Hoyoverse ever taking player feedback into consideration?
i mean they listened a patch or so ago in regards to the teleport points that were underground
and i heard from somewhere they're adding a gadget wheel to that people have been asking for
that and they gave us more team line ups as well
Do people ever Go Touch Grass Like Go Events etc. ?

Do you ever put in survey? If your suggestion doesnt get followed up it doesnt mean u are being ignored. They listen to the majority and stats. To quote asmongold : 10 hardcore player thinks they are the 1000 ppl that being loud on media. While the 1000 casual players seems like they are only 10 ppl because they dont being loud.
Guild Wars 2 tried to do bi-monthly updates, but the studio couldn't sustain it, so they are back to quarterly (or at least the goal).
I feel that when you are new to Genshin impact, it feels like such a good game in the beginning, but as you go on, the slower it becomes and the more boring it gets as you repeat the same things over and over again.
The genshin story isn't bad. Their storytelling is bad. And of course Paimon just adds more terrible voice lines to it. Playing Honkai StarRail made me realize that Hoyoverse can tell a good story with every detail and emotions added and make it short and simple yet fun to play.
no it's just bad dude, it just doesn't seem like it bc hot ppl and it's long. like just say it dude trust me you'll feel better, you don't have to try justify your time spent.
100% agree that it's the storytelling that is bad. The idea that is there is clearly interesting, but whoever is doing the writing is wordy and too hesitant to do certain things. Paimon is an excellent example. Aether and Lumine have voice actors, but instead of utilizing them they are CONSTANTLY side-lined by having Paimon talk for you. Why? Clearly, there is an idea of what the MC would say but we have the mascot talk over us. Also, Genshin has a bad habit of building certain things up and then just acting like they don't exist. For instance, it establishes that the Archons are not entirely trustworthy, begins to prove this by showing that Zhongli was involved in something seemingly terrible but made a contract that requires him to never divulge details (which is obviously a sus contract). It then proceeds to throw this ALL out the window when we are introduced to Ei. Ei is the first Archon to be introduced as blatantly not trustworthy, someone we probably shouldn't acquaint ourselves with, but instead of sticking to that the reality of her actions are swept under the rug into order to completely change her personality to something 'cute' so the player can forget that this woman was a dictator who tells you point blank that people can't be trusted to make their own decisions and that taking their ambitions HELPS people in the long term.
@@18andcloudy If you know how to tell a tale you can make a tale about a horse taking a sh*t a fairytale. Focusing on NPC's and dragging the story just makes it more and more boring cause a person has only a limited attention span. I dont have to spend 3 hours going being a NPC and doing his odd tasks which get me nowhere.
@@Deathisdark05 true and also the game would be a lot lot better if we got to know the backstories of the characters. Diluc, Collie, Cyno, Amber these characters have lot of lore on them. Yet we got to know a lot about the sad story about the NPC and help them out. And when we reach the end of a major plot point the archon just tells us to wait and find out after 7-8 months in the new region
They knew how to tell good stories ever since HI3
100% agree star rail is an amazing break from genshin especially now with content drought before fontaine
genshin is a good game but the devs dont understand that an optional level up of difficulty will absolutely hurt no one
Good to see Tectone is still under the delusion that Hoyo somehow *owed* it to him to address whether or not an infinitely grindable endgame feature would ever be added to the game from the very start. Yeah, how dare they not address an issue that a tiny minority of their playerbase is concerned about before the game even came out??? How dare they create a game that they want, put it out there for everyone to see what it is, and then not predict what a small number of people would dislike about it and make a giant neon sign warning this tiny group of people about that fact? How inconsiderate of them! I mean do they even care?!?
I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I've played since launch and I only have some areas 100%, haven't done all of the big quests, and barely did hangouts. I usually log in most days, though it varies from enough time to do dailies to hours of exploring and questing. So I just don't see how it's only "3 hours" of gameplay on big patches and people just finish everything within a week. I do other things. I imagine others have jobs, school, lives and OTHER games to play. if you finish stuff like that, that's just a sign of obsessively playing. Which that's a personal issue. Even games with years of content still get people bitching saying there's nothing to do. When they really haven't done that much, just ONLY what they like. Which is fine, play how you want and have fun. But you can't claim there isnt shit to do if you no-life it or only touch a small part. No game will have content for you after a point if you do that. Also, criticism is fair. Genshin is definitely far from perfect and needs a lot of improvement. That can be said with ANY ongoing game. Any ongoing game that doesn't improve over time will just not be worth it in the end
Well no it only has 3 hours worth of time for the stuff he wants to do.
Also he's a content creator so the existing content in game would just not be enough for him. Although I would also argue that his job as a content creator is to find a way around it. I've seen people do weird challenges and shit and they get pretty good views too. Eg: JavaTheCup
it's just 3h of what Tectone does because he will only do the abyss and one event so it will add up to only 3h indeed xD
edit: and also a lot of people who do everything will finish it in less than a week because they're 14 year olds that can play for 12h a day. ANd I'm not throwing shade at them because that was me 10 years ago. I would finish like Assasin's creed game in a week and stuff. But ig internet wasn't so big back then so I couldn't complain about how bad the game is cause I waited a year for it, payed 60$ and finished in a few days just because other people who don't like the story told me the game is bad (and story was like the main thing of AC games)
Yeah, sumeru is out for how long now? but im around 50-60% on exploration and quest, no hangouts done a lot of the story quests left. Playing 6-10h a day and complaining the game is finished after a 2 weeks is insane for me. thats 140-200h of content and its not enough apparently. Just find other stuff to do in life and this would not be such a big deal, whenever someone complains so heavily that there isnt endgame and how game suck it strike me as this person simply live in delusion, addiction min-maxing meta slaving every character. Expecting game to be what they want when we all know it wont happen, they hush hopium that things will change and this just breeds more hate and grudge in them. They cant get over it and move on, insted go on forums and thrashtalk everything. What they should do is to go visit some doctor to cure their addiction
@@Lavrec yeah i mostly agree. Its not that the game doesnt have content, its that the game doesnt have content that that person wants. Adding end game wont fix the issue because even in other gatcha games that have things that only whales can beat, those games still lose people including whales. People get bored. People get burned out and thats okay. Just means its time to move on. Plus it helps not having a bad relationship with gaming in the first place. Which is easy to occur with CCs because its how they get their viewers, by constantly playing a game until they start to hate it
i strongly agree about hoyoverse characters, character designs by themselves kept me playing the game for a whole lot longer than i should be playing, meanwhile other gachas out there releasing expensive ass npc looking character
For those who appreciate genshin, just continue playing it. I myself enjoy the story and that's what keeps me playing it. It is not on par with some anime contents we currently have but the story is good enough to make me continue playing the game.
Day one genshin palyer i got pretty tired of exploration and the trash rewards from chest.
In 3 years the amount of thing we got there were some good and than there werent a f tonn of stuff that still waits to be added, damn even qol stuff is being praised now as the second, third and forth comming of jesus.
I was sceptical about Star Rail but now i legit dont want to go up to genshin right now cuz the day and night i can do multiple things while im playing star rail cuz it has autoplay dailies dont feel like actual chores.
I have been told genshin is a casual game on the other hand it needs high time investment cuz even the fuking exploration is now locked behind stupid overworld quests U STILL CANT SKIPP THE DIALOGE, LEMME SKIPP THE EIGHT HOURS OF DIALOGE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
95% of the character quest dont ivolve the characters they are about u meet them when it starts go do 90% of the quest with a fucking generic ass npc than when the quest ends the character u actualy care about comes back to finish it.
And no genshin story telling is really not good when ppl say its good no its not its full off plot holes and stupid decisions u think for 2 second u will ask urself how and why did anyone write sht like this? Perfect example is every inazuma quest ever!!!
There are some shines here and there but its never mentioned ever. You would think they show ppl can use multiple visions ina story cuz they want to make units being able to use multiple or different visions but no.
But ignoring the story aspect and all.
WHERE ARE THE QoL stuff????
3 years and u still cant make artifact loadouts idk if they dont want to or cant cuz the games coding same for mc switching element wich is just pain cuz u have to go to a pillar and than switch artifacts ahhhhh....
Units slowly getting worse and worse and not just ebing niche here im talking about making units like Dori Candace and Dehya these 3 are all Sumeru units........wanted to list Cyno too but he is decent i guess.
Games within games NO i dont want to play tic tac toe on genshin i will never underatand this why play fuking pacman on genshin????
And osu and other kind of crappy mini games sure we need them(no thats i lie i dont think we need them that much but im in the very small minority here ofc ik that well enough) but honestly genshin has way too much focus on the mini games.
I got numb to itXD yea sure cuz every patch has these filler mini games and there is no opt out option if u want the primos u have to play it and guess what these events are the biggest primo income to most players, just lemme beat up some level 150 hilichurls for the primos idc.
There are a lot of things genshin could change for the better and the fact that 3 year passed and some of the systems that are in the game did not get updated or freshed up a bit is just shameful. Lemme ask why was even fishing added to the game???? Everyone busted their nuts off to get the catch cuz even hoy knew 99% of the palyers will not even go near that shit with a 10 foot pole if they wont make it worth and even than i say it was some of the worst grind i ever did in any vidoe game ever so far. AND LO BEHOLD sumeru came out and not just a fuck ton of palyer did not even bother with fishing some of them dont even know the BOW EXISTS.
And no i did not get the bow either and i will probably never will.
Teapot as well more and more stuff comes out for it and you cant place80% of the stuff you have cuz of the kindergarden green, yellow, red markers WHO designed that??????
None of the items tell you how much load they will take up(there is an outside source for that cuz some ppl actually cared) so have fun placing 6 trees and ur already in the yellow.....its just ahhh i have 5 landscape but why i cant have just maybe one where i have super high load limit??? But this is no concern either tbh cuz i dont even bother with teapot anymore cuz whats the point trying to build anything when halfway trough the load limits puts a 12 inch subway in ur tunnel just for the fun off it.
Dont even get me started on the battle pass its a criminal thing to even call that a battle pass.
Make a problem sell the solution thats it and an uber disgusting one at that.
I could write for hours about other stuff but i gota go food wont cooks itself EHE(fuck paimon too with its stupid voice and everything and telling the same thing we just read/heard over and over and over again).
But yea white knight will just say the same bs like every time so far "if u dont like it just quit".
I feel like the devs shouldn’t have had to tell people that it was a casual game, i don’t know man :/
Considering teccy said inazuma was peak story I'd say he's just going into this with a full on shonen mindset I get it because I also thought inazuma was amazing
I’m so glad to hear you say Inazuma was peak Genshin, Teccy :D Personally, I couldn’t agree more. The sheer excitement everyone got when seeing Raiden for the first time was absolutely amazing!
Inazuma was literally the worst garbage in this game the ones that are saying otherwise are ayaka and raiden simps
@@ziebus904 you’re obviously entitled to your own opinion, but that is indeed a very generalized argument
Inazuma's ending was the thing that ruined it, the rest was fine. If it was handled better, it would be leagues above the other archon quests, but here we are with the mess they produced
@@Oclur let’s agree to disagree then. I think the Inazuma archon quest still is the best, but with Sumeru being very close. The Liyue and Mondstadt archon quests wasn’t very impressive imo🤷🏼♂️
Inazuma was meh. As soon as I could I left that steaming pile behind and went to play in Monstadt and Liyue again. It was so slow and monotonous often literally having you tread the same exact steps over and over again. Sumeru was a lot better even though it had less epic conflict moments because it presented a more engrossing atmosphere and thrilling tale. But even then, Sumeru's story had higher stakes. It turns out, Raiden was only pretending to be your enemy and she was just going to hold your hand in the end anyway in killing your actual nemesis of the Inazuma arc, La Signora. You don't even get to kill the bad guy yourself. Instead an ancient powerful deity has to do it for you. Inazuma would definitely embody style over substance. Which is more appealing to you depends on what kind of person you are. I would say that it is good that Hoyo presented both and that they don't need to only do one thing. As long as they never present stylistic as slow and shallow as Inazuma again, of course.
I think the community needs to understand that plenty of people like the minigames and that they are part of the gameplay so dont just say it's bad gameplay, its middling combat. But on the other side dont devalue the opinion of those who want higher level gameplay. Both are valid opinions just dont be a dick and devalue eachother.
I agree. It's all about one's preference and expectations from a game.
If you don't like the story of genshin at all then its better if you don't go back playing again. It will just make you hate more the game. Just a piece of advise.
16:01 its fantasy hack and slash game why are events mostly anything but that, why cant i use MY characters to slay monsters as an option on every event of the mini games to clear them, it can be the same like the Spyral abbys i don't care, if i log in a hack and slash game i want to hack and slash end of story
tectone, not gonna lie the archon quest really slaps, you didnt do the archon quest for sumeru so its natural you don't how good it is but, i have to disagree the archon quest was very very good. the world quest are a little bit of problem cause they are not voiced, but i have even read all the dialogue of the world quest, maybe i am just on high dosage of copium, but its not so bad content at all.
Most of the criticism comes down to not voice dialogues and bloated texts, whenever we play archon/events its always anjoyable becaue the lines are voiced. Whenever i have to read for 2h in every single quest it easly scares me away of doing more quests. I dont have energy to spent so much time reading dialogues and at the same time i dont want to miss out on information from the quest. Thas succesfully creates a situation when i rather not start quest at all
@@Lavrecthat's just world quests

Did you know that Genshin follows the book "The Divine Comedy by Dante aka 'Dante's Inferno'" where The Traveler is Dante himself
Did he just said inazuma was peak lol. That shit had worst story telling and sumeru made me realize that even more. Sumeru easily is best in terms of archon quests, world quest, character interaction, traversal, world building and some character stories like dehya, tighnari and haithem were good too ( apart from nailou and cyno). Also, best npc jeht and dunyarzad. It is easily the best cast compared to other regions. Inazuma was so disappointing in terms of that its not even funny. Last half of archon quest carried the game and itto & raiden literally carries the cast. Not to mention tcg.
I disagree. I thought Sumeru kind of sucked expect for Nahida one quest and the end of the archon quest. Just my opinion

Just my opinion tho, glad you enjoyed it. You said it's easily the best and I just commented to show not everyone feels like that. But different strokes for different folks
@@Bdog4114 Yeah, its called build up and sumeru did it in a way that moved the plot forward and made sure we knew about characters, and unlike previous quests, build up from their interaction to working together in the end and getting to plan shit out and succeeding was awsome, their interactions alone are better then most previous cast, especially inazuma which sucked ass where they tried to tell shit in short amount of time sacrificing plot points and individual character moments. Only kazuha had one. In sumeru every one got to shine. Not to mention how fun are the cast to watch.

Underappreciated? Id say Genshin's updated are OVERAPPRECIATED if anything. The genshin community is the worse gaming community that exists, worse than league. Theyre toxic to each other, and yet theyre fanatically defensive of the game while ALWAYS, always pretending to be impartial. Ive heard so many people talking about genshin giving so much "content" when an entire expansion adds around 2.5 hours of new stuff only and yet they defend ig; Ive heard so many times them saying the story is good, only to then watch the trailers for the story and see how shit it is. Try asking a genshin player to describe the story to you, and theyll only say its too complicated to be told, they can never even explain it.
the entire game is overappreciated.
Genshin suffers from the same issue as Destiny 1. The game itself has a top tier lore(better than most animes out there), but it is hidden by walls of crypted texts. I undestand that they can't show Khanreah yet, but it's ridiculous an event like the archon war be hidden by wall of texts. How awesome would be if the archons legendary quests shown us more about the war, what awesome would be if instead of showing us flashes about Raiden past we actually play Raiden and kill one by one of her friends and sees her sister dies in front of you, maybe more people would emphatyze with her. The ekonomya past playable. So many missed oportunities that the fan base are creating animations about these moments...
The mini games are exactly just that, mini games. They don't substitute for the actual game, and most of them are boring (one or two per event are actually unique and fun) which I can honestly say in my opinion since I've played every single mini game. I want more of the actual game but of course they can only progress so much with the time frame they have.
ima have to disagree with Tectone on the league causal comment... and I hate to say this but this is such a youtube/ internet take.
its the vocal minority thing, yes the hardcore players and competitive players are mostly going to be the ones complaining on the internet. the casual players just play the game and dont do all of that extra stuff. Alot of people I know dont even like to play ranked most of the league fanbase plays casually and the people who play ranked eventually get burn out and quit unless they are playing ranked for a stream or to "go pro" and prove themselves.
12:43 Final Fantasy XIV does, but it's patch cycles are longer. Used to be between 2and a half to 3 months between each major patch, and an expansion every 2 years. Now it's a major patch every 3 to 4 months, but that was more on both increasing the quality and also not burning the devs out as much.
lol Tectone dont know about FF14 and its every 4 months getting an update that introduces about 2 maybe 3 hours of story. They been doing that for almost a decade now lol.
