Just to clarify, the primogems given to players were for just being nominated, not winning.
Exactly they only asked players to vote there was never a incentive to win for primos.
And of course they all thought if they win they will get some more cuase that's acutally normal behavior for mobile games. When I was playing DBZ Dokkan Battle I remember getting crystals for being top 10 at each aniversary on the play store and when it would reach top 1 we would get another reword of crystals so yeah.

Teccy said he was being objective, but he sounded a tad salty reacting to this escapade in Genshin history. He is correct that it wasn’t really all that important. People talked about it for about a week total. Should Genshin have been in the running that year? No, of course not but the same is true of any live-service game, Destiny, Fortnite, Warzone, etc… And, Elden Ring did okay for themselves at the Game Awards that year bringing home Game of the Year and I think God of War Ragnarok won the most awards. Fan votes are always wonky and not to be taken seriously as both the Peoples Choice Awards and the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards exemplify.
A bit after minute 10 he started trashing on the Genshin community and I was like "dude, just keep watching the video, let the guy tell you the whole picture, arguments and stuff" but he just kept trashing and trashing for close to a minute. He definetely knows about the genshin community but for this case he was judging a bit too fast. And he clearly doesn't know the Sonic community that well if he was being "objective"
I also want to point out Hoyo never said we'd get rewards if we won the award they asked players to vote for it. So I'd like to see the post where they offered a reward if it won like Tectone said.

It was only a loud minority, most sonic fans only wanted for the game be given a proper award. Cuz the game was amazing, it showed the potential of future Sonic games and more. But there's always toxic assholes in every community that destroy the good intentions of the general fandom.

Genshin “officially” never said they’d give primo gems though. It was purely community made.
I don't know if there actually is 60 million active players but I do know the downloads are in the hundred millions. Regardless, at the time of the game awards there was an obvious gap between Genshin players and Sonic fandom. Even if it was less than 60 mil active, it still would have eclipsed Sonic.

This is what I got from the first article after searching Genshin monthly players on Google.
He straight out blamed the Genshin community ALONG when this drama happened, and he is continuing to do so right now. To be fair, XB3’s OST was somewhat forgettable compared to 1 and 2, but it did have a few really fantastic tracks like the Moebius theme and VS Sorrow. Meanwhile, I only remember like one song from Ragnarok lmao. The winner should’ve been XB3 or Elden Ring.

I too was part of that battle, but I wasn't a toxic Sonic fan. As a Sonic fan, I was sad that "Sonic Frontiers" didn't win for Players' Voice. I wanted it to win because I and all Sonic fans want to tell Sonic Team that they did a great job and thank them for all their hard work. I was sad, but I still respect "Genshin Impact." I don't hate "Genshin Impact," I do like it, even though I have never played it(because I mostly play "Honkai Star Rail"). I'm at least glad that "Sonic Frontiers" was nominated. And I think we can agree that it's criminal that "Sonic Frontiers" wasn't even nominated for "Best Score and Music"

Over a span of 30 days is nothing, you could log in for 5 seconds and that would count towards that metric..it's inflated asf.

Also about the comparison between Genshin updates and Sonic games. No. Dude... As a guy who grew up with classic sonic and has been around for every - single - release... they're not comparable. Not even close. You see... People might have their problems with Genshin updates: But the overall quality of the game, the story, the music, the characters etc. Is hardly in question. Sonic games? Sonic games will outright PISS OFF the entire fandom for how poorly they perform and yet the fandom stays strong. That's a special kind of dedication right there. Heck. I am of the opinion that Sonic Frontiers is still shit and the music is pretty middling at best. But it was nice to see Sonic not just be a joke for a change.
I wasn't even aware this was a thing XD. Genshin mobilising for war is always a scary thought. I love the ingame community a lot. People I meet in Co-op are always nice and wholesome so I have come to believe that the actual Genshin Community and the Twitter Genshin Community are two separate entities. I doubt the Twitter peeps even play the game. They probably just saw the r34 stuff and like it and decided to create a community off it. I could be wrong but 🤷♀🤷♀I don't use twitter anyways so it doesn't matter to me.

Genshin never said that they have to win the TGA to give primogems. They only gave it as a reward for being nominated in a category. And they also did it in 2021, they always does it yearly...even in the next upcoming years. But the next battle will be legendary coz its Star Rail vs Genshin.

The Game Awards thing was bs since Genshin wasn't supposed to be able to qualify as it wasn't a game that came out that year. It was, for some reason, included due to a port releasing and that somehow counted as a new game releasing that year. So though they won that award, it should not had be eligible to begin with.
