What's funny about the Dori VA drama is that all of the Japanese VAs are Japanese, all of the Chinese VAs are Chinese, nobody gets upset about them, but once it comes to the English VAs they demand that the VA match the skin tone of the character they're playing or have darker.
its just hte western mindset of people that has not this respectful mindset than those dedicated anime fan that watch japanese or other part of voice.

I just avoid all this toxicity of Genshin Impact and play the game naturally, but I can't help but hear some of them that really grinded my gears, especially death threats on Kokomi's actress, the Scaramuche situation, the bomb at a con and all remaining toxic events, like holy shit it's like these people need serious help, we're talking about a video game for Christ's sake.

btw the scaramouche cat situation wasn't really from a genshin player. the guy who did that stuff was actually known for posting those harmful animal videos in multiple fandoms telegrams, especially furry ones, to trigger people just for fun. he wasn't a genshin player at all, just letting you know that it wasn't specific to genshin.

As a Genshin player it's also sad to see. I went into it back then because of the fact I get to play an open world game of such quality on mobile (the gacha was a side thing but I was familiar of it because of Azur Lane), and I absolutely loved open world games rpg. Played some Elder Scrolls with my brother as well as Brightridge on mobile so a game that's basically an RPG with an anime-esque art style attracted me heavily. Still does but I play more nowadays metroidvania games and stuff like War Thunder.
you can say that to wow player too since if you look at forum sometimes or crazy part of it. Its not that different ugly neckbeards attack anyone because they play this game for 20 years.
The hoyo games have such a special kind of magic to attract mentally unstable people. The Honkai Impact bunnygirl assassination attempt is a prime example of it.

This happened due to the predecessor to Genshin which was Honkai Impact 3rd.
Personally to me this probably was the start of miHoyo realizing that it should be wisest to listen to the Chinese community more than the Global community.
This event also probably made it so that Hoyoverse decided to censor Nicole from ZZZ because well, yeah the CN community kinda got mad and they aren't taking any chances this time (also they lose 30% of all of their profits if they don't censor so yeah... I think they kinda had to)

It's sad that what is an incredibly well-made and designed game from a technical and artistic standpoint. Has been dragged so low that someone merely mentioning it or saying they play it might end up being harassed or clowned on. Just because of the wild shit that is tied to the game. I severely hope that HSR and the soon to come ZZZ will not endure the same fate.

I'm glad I'm not a part of the toxic community, I just enjoy the game for what it is, and the toxicity has not yet ruined it for me since I don't pay any attention to it. Sadly, I am very embarrassed to say I play Genshin Impact, and only one friend who plays it himself knows I play it.
there is always a good part but sadly youtuber focus on the bad part most of the time. Even its calm down alot people gonna dig stuff again because they cant move on in there life.

Usually if I get angry during a game it is at myself for playing like shit especially if I am doing well through most of the other shit in the game. If I ever met someone who tortures cats for any reason especially a video game, I might go off the deep end with em and treat them like they did the cats.

It be hard out here in these, I put almost every game I play on the hardest difficulty streets, so I understand that type of gamer frustration. Also some of those extreme Genshin players go way out of line. But I will say there are legit good reasons why some fans are displeased with how Hoyoverse has done things. If the characters are one of the main products of Genshin, why are there so few chances to play dress up with them? Especially for the Traveler.

But to rage at even those who don't make decisions is just fucking odd way to show your displeased at a company. call out the executives and devs but not VAs and general staff and harm animals and people over it. Either they need to square up outside the gaming studio at the ceos car or really screw off on that. Fans harm themselves in their own stupidity don't deserve a good game.

The funny thing about that video is that so many Genshin players on Reddit and on RUclips got very mad at the guy who made it. I saw comments from folks that were trying to downplay and make excuses for the unhinged behavior from the vocal minority, which is absolutely ridiculous. When people promote toxic positivity, it will only make things worse.
The very moment you justify, ignore, and make excuses for the bad behavior of these people, it doesn’t matter what valid points you make, you lost all credibility and respect.
I understand, some of the things in the video did leave some context out, and the scaramouche and bomb situation came from genshin haters, but it still doesn't mean the community is some squeaky clean utopia. People just need to accept that every community has its good and bad parts and just strive to be better.

Also, when people say “other communities have problems too!” is just another excuse to downplay what objectively bad. Yes, all communities have their bad apples, but that doesn’t mean your community is immune.

Genshin really seems to bring out the absolute worst in some people, its no wonder why people make fun of the Genshin community and make generalizations. How can you blame them when some of these people become so obsessed that they lose touch of reality. This is why I try not to associate with its community and just play for a couple hours every once in a while.
Every video game makes the player lose touch of reality, but i understand that some of these players truly just make themselves look worse than the other video game addicts.
In my case i actually started acting even nicer because of the interactions that I've experienced while playing Genshin...
I’m not so obsessed with the game itself than over the story. At most, all I’ve been able to do is a bit of farming because my characters still have yet to reach level eighty. I want to at least be able to play Spiral Abyss…

The video depicts genshin players as the reason behind the bomb threat which is bs misinformation, the person behind the bomb threat was a korean who hates the CCP(china) and he didn't liked a chinese game holding a event in his soil korea so he made a bomb and wanted to kill genshin players. The video does a really bad job and has misinformation in it. Even the video description says all information isn't accurate please find the information yourself as a viewer. Presenting accurate information is the job of a YT documentary creator, he doesn't even mention about the korean guy and just painted the whole narrative that genshin players did it, The scara cat situation, the person who did the animal abuse was doxxed, and it was later find out he was a highschool boy who poses as a 28 year old female. He has a history of animal abuse, except until the wanderer drama. He has been only sending those photos to furry groups and he has said "i'm going to keep abusing animals till every last one of furries are dead". He also do not play genshin impact at all, To make his fake girl profile look more real to other people he used a random anime character as a pfp which was of klee and people assumed she(she was he in reality) was a genshin player, he posted these kind of stuff just to trigger people just for fun. Just letting you know that it wasn't specific to genshin at all, people should stop this whole narrative that genshin players are animal killer which is disgusting without providing a solid evidence specially the Gacha CC who spread this misinformation without even looking into it, Every CC just looked at a reddit thread and went with it like all this information is true, but the scara drama about CN fans seeing him as a threat as a male was real, Visual venture creating a video knowing the information provided is not 100% accurate is just pathetic

Hearing all of these again in a row, you have to think just how "minor" the vocal community group are, because it can't be from the same group each time these incidents happen, it would have come from dozens or maybe hundreds not just from the Chinese fanbase but from the global/western groups too. You might even have to dump in the 3rd party groups who are jumping in on the hate-train to add more fuel to the fire who don't even play the game. Because if that percentage remains consistent, like how they did with the first anni or the ones that do death threats, the situation will only get worse in the long run.
Ah yes, if someone unrelated to the fandom threatens its fans either through a bomb threat or the cat thing, lets blame the victim. This is like calling a rape victim toxic because they're involved in a toxic incident, aka rape, even though they didn't do anything; it's just easier to generalize the victim and rapist in one bad scenario instead of using your head to just blame the rapist.

I never focus on the genshin community or fanbase but sometimes i give it a look i played genshin on 2.3/2.4 i like the story quest and archon quest on genshin impact. I like the lore behind it why is it like this how is it happened. I feel like genshin impact rn just deserve a qol and they just need to hear the community for once. I can gurantee at this point people who play genshin especially they new one play for the quest not focusing on the characters. Once hsr release, i see a lot of comparison from the gameplay story quest the lore like when i play i remembered getting my 5 star guranteed char is himeko however idk about genshin. I can say my luck in hsr is like 15x better than in genshin. For the events i am one of them that doesnt do them cause at this point i feel my char is weak. Hopefully one day genshin would listen their communities from the resin rerolling substats

Genshin is like other games,
it just stands out to the other games cus it's more poular since it's available on multiple platforms and it's an anime-ish-like rpg explorer game. ( a mixture of basically anything popular nowadays, anime is popular, exploration is popular for example like probably Minecraft, and who doesn't like fighting?, with multiple mechanics on each character.)
Like any other popular game, it has toxic fanbases, when undertale became popular, there were loads of toxic fanbases, when league of legends and cod became more popular there are people that talk sht alot, hell I recon there's also other games with alot of toxic fanbases.
It just says alot about society, when a game becomes popular, it just basically means its playerbase is increasing. When normal players rise, the toxic fanbase also rises.
Now onto the players swiping their credit cards for characters. I understand that these types of ppl are actually ruining their lives. But on one end it's not really the games fault, or the fanbase (i think, idk i haven't seen ppl encouraging ppl to spend money on the game in a straight face)
These ppl are the people who have spending issues or gambling habbits, it's their fault for ruining their own lives using the money they have. There are countless other ways that can make you happy, using that money and they chose to do it in genshin. I understand it's popular and all, and that it's making them hooked into playing it and eventually spending money into the game. But don't other games also do that?, like lets say any other game with in game purchases, as simple as mobile games and as complicated and as popular as call of duty warzone. (I also get that there are other games that don't include these types of money grabbing ideas, but it's just straight business dude, become popular, abuse societal issues and make money).
I think I still have some things to point out but I just wanna end it here on this note.
The toxic genshin community are like any other game's toxic community, we just stand out cus we're more popular.
So please for the love of God, not all of us are toxic, so don't oversimplify that all genshin players are just no-life, weak or snowflake, and fat losers. Cus that certainly doesn't make the rest of you (other video game players) any better, cus at the end of the day we're all wasting our lives somehow by simply complaining about societal issues on the "internet".

i always wondered what was it that drew these types of people to this game specifically. you dont hear other games having toxic players telling the voice actors to kill themselves because the players are dissatisfied with the game.
Size of the audience, addictive design and monetization, complete lack of communication from the devs - would be my guesses.
But idk if it draws in horrible people or make them.
If someone is somewhat unhinged lunatic, there's a good chance they play the game because of the popularity of it, there's a good chance they get unhealthily imvested in it becauae of exploitative and addictive design, and then there's a good chance they are pushed over the edge by questionable decisions and lqck of communication from hoyo.
It's the result of having such a large and diverse community, you unfortunately attract these types of people. Even then alot of those people don't or even barely play the game at all, especially if what they're focusing on is skin color of all things.

For me, I lost a few friends because I played Genshin when they moved to Star Rail. They have a really weird fixation on the need to say their game is better such as not having Paimon, better QoL, etc. Like no matter how you dress up Star Rail, I don't like sci-fi or turn-based games, so it'll never appeal to me. Nowadays they piggyback in Reddit and other forums with this same sentiment whereas I'm just enjoying Genshin quietly without being all that involved in their community. Seriously, they treat Genshin as if they had a really bad breakup and it's one aspect where toxicity relates back to Genshin because maybe they're just mad someone still enjoys the game and they don't?
These people are degenerates first off so its not beyond them to have the mental unstability to think that way

Water diaper/censorship... the reason why censorship is so bad on hoyoverse's games might be because of competition sending in a lot of false reports to take the company down. (I won't be able to explain it, but you can do your own search about it)

The hackers situation was actually proven that the so "victims" of the deleted items were actually the hackers themselves, trying to disguise themselves as victims to cause panic in the community. Also, they got banned and the hacks got patched.
KFC event wasn't really overcrowded to the point of shutting down. The reason why the event was shut down was because of chinese laws, you need to warn beforehand that the establishment is going to have a big event bringing in big crowds. KFC didn't do that, that's why it was shut down.
The bomb in a con also wasn't from a genshin player, rather from a China/Anime hater.

My take: every community as big as genshins is bound to have a couple freaks, stalkers, murderers etc in it, thats just statistics. And if an average community has like 10% bad apples, genshin probably has 20% bad apples simply because the combination of game, anime and gambling is going to attract more weirdos on average. So I wouldnt read too much into this. Its just a video game.
This, compare to the 1st year of the game, the toxicity has gone down a lot due to many players had already quit the game. Barely any noteworthy drama after the cluster fest of the 1st anniversary, last year sonic is fun but that fault is totally fall on sonic community. People have been getting more bold with “plug ins” I was in coop the other day and joined these random players and we ran a domain and this player didn’t even wait for all players to enter the arena and cleared the domain in under 10 seconds, we left the domain and the player had Amber out on the spot summoned 20 Barron bunny’s and switched to Xiangling and summoned 20 gouba’s, scared the shit out of me, I immediately left, all they were doing was laughing in chat when I asked what is this, for sure had to be a plug-in !

Let's be real here: Every comunity has toxic parts. The problem here is that genshin comunity is GINORMUS. The part that don't care nor comunicate is much MUCH MUCH larger than the toxic one and if you go on math and made a percentage of 'toxic vs non-toxic' players, genshin would get less than 5%.

Honestly, I get the idea he showed in that video, it could true or fake, but the WAY he presented in that video may lead to some misunderstandings, as if the entire players and the game itself are toxic, especially who hasn't played Genshin might think it's really really bad.

I started to stop playing Genshin Impact at the first Lantern Rite Festival, the Inazuma region was still not open at that time. the reason was that I didn't have much to do in the game at that time and I wanted to wait for some updates and new regions. When I returned to playing this game again I felt disappointed with the Genshin community with how toxic it was. but I still enjoy playing Genshin Impact, I still miss the times when people really enjoyed seeing stream updates like Dragon Spine and seeing Tectone pulling staff of Homa, yeah, that was a fun era.

Honestly, I admit, I do play this game everyday still. I started in 2021 and I took a two week break when Sumeru came out because i DETEST that region. But I still play everyday and I honestly like it. I am a fan of the game....but I'm only a solo fan, I don't associate with the community, I just stick to what I like and I just don't become a sensitive whining bitch when someone says something negative about something, because that's why opinions exist and people who get pressed over them need to touch grass. And yes, the updates are so fucking boring when there's nothing new, but I am a sucker for open world games with really in depth story, and for some reason Genshin just fits all the perfect areas for me which is why I eat shitty ass updates up (sometimes).

I just want to point out that the review bombing was after miHoYo silenced players concerns about the game 1st anniversary (from the lack of transparency etc). They were censoring on multiple social media (chinese, reddit, discord etc)
Some advice for everyone, try ignoring the negativity, the only reason you're annoyed with Genshin is you're seeking out the negativity on purpose. Just play the game for you, ignore the trolls.

Dude I’ve played the game for a over a year and never understood the hate for the game or the community from non genshin players but after seeing this vid and hearing about the threats to voice actors I understand why other people would hate it players as myself who plays the game casually and doesn’t engage in discord discussions since it’s paints a negative picture for the whole genshin community

Im disappointed at both communities. Not just Genshin but HSR too.. Ever since the whole free 5 star thing being released. The HSR community online and content creators have been adding into the toxic community of Genshin just to make them more toxic. Its not even about constructive criticism anymore. So in a sense we are just doing it to ourselves. Genshin isnt toxic in nature it never was but like all popular games or media there are always those who have to ruin it and act so entitled when things dont go their way. For 3 years the Genshin community never bothered standing up for themselves and just accept whatever hoyo gives them which is why they have been toxic. People going to extremes just for a digital character, even the Asia communities having the worst, like people killing cats over scara. Keep in mind i say ONLINE community, because ive never met an irl Genshin player that acts like this. It makes me embarrassed to enjoy the game, because now if you even mention it people will label you as a pedo or toxic. With all the drama that this game brings its why i only come back during initial weeks of a new patch.
On the other hand to the HSR community shame on them. Like the memes are funny but if you unironically trash people because of some special privilege you are feeding the reason why the Genshin community gets such a bad rep.
