Nah it's not that deep, internet and RUclips exist, it's almost impossible to not know what's going on.
They will not make “more” money off new unaware players, they will just make money. They will not gain “more” money while being boycotted, that’s what boycotting does. That’s the whole point of boycotting??

it's somewhat similar to states and their government. if you think about, we could all "storm the gates" if we all agreed to do it and probably win but, we are all indulging on the benefits of what a state provides, im sure i dont have to list those. but, i guess in this case, if this was much similar to my analogy, hoyo would be north korea -- _to an extent._

The worst part is that the final battle of Genshin will likely be an easy asf playable cutscene, just like every story fight in the game has been since after Inazuma's archon quest. It'll be nerfed to hell and probably missing a phase, but don't worry, they'll let you play the real boss fight when you're grinding it outside of the actual story -_-
I really hope Hoyoverse proves me wrong on this. I feel like they're underestimating how much a challenging fight can immerse players into the narrative. The Shogun's first form from the archon quest was a great example of this, letting you feel the hopelessness of fighting a warrior god. It made the power of friendship moment in the latter half hit harder because the fight before it was genuinely challenging.
The power friendship part pissed me off. Otherwise I agree with the immerse point.
Childe on release was pretty balanced but too hard for little girls crying on twitter and hoyolab about how they cant beat him so they nerfed him to punching bag, so yeah, this game will never get hard content anymore because its for collecting thousands of mint or little girls will get back to twitter and start crying how its hard

"if you're a patch 1 player you're miserable" fucking felt that lmao. I can barely get myself to login for daily stuff anymore because it's just so miserable to play now. I have been enjoying the hell out of Star Rail and Palworld (and tekken 8 as of today lol). Genshin is a backburner game at this point probably until 5.0 comes out. It's just kinda "whatever" anymore.

Im glad this video is popping off. I watched this and it just had over a thousand views. Box2 and Tectone reacting to it caused it go nearly 6 digits in views which means a lot of people are getting the message. I hope Genshin learns this time before HSR’s anniversary drops. If you dont ask, you dont get. This is one of the most essential things I wish I could tell all kids or young adults getting their first jobs. Asking for a raise is something people have anxiety over and not even bother asking for even when deserved. Surely their company they work for will notice their hard work. Nope, thats not the case for alot of jobs out there. You needa stand for yourself and not be ashamed because its "like begging" or "oh no itll ruin my relation". We really need to spread this message throughout the community. This is what we want and what Genshin needs. What we have is not enough. There needs to be a 6 player rotational raid unique to every region. Another thing is a permanent 4v4 4 star battle brawl. Also for the love of god, make it to where we can at the bare minimum target farm a certain stat on artifacts for 2 days a week. That’s what players have been asking for 3 years now. That’ll take care of the endgame issue, the multiplayer issue as well as the artifact issue.

if i could pick ONE feature to be added in the game, it would be a separate co-op abyss where you can help people gain primos, it's been over a year now where i take the abyss for granted, and my units' power is kind of pointless.
even if they were to just reward us with blue fates, it would be a boon to everyone, you get stronger weapons, more characters that are off banner, plus the more characters that are added into the roster the more the odds will be put against you on that banner.
we need some change, also update paimons shop.
We TRULY TRULY need SIMULATED UNIVERSE / ELYSIAN REALM mode for end game. We all know we would enjoy that because of the replayability of the mode, being dungeon crawling, rogue like is so much fun, especially when they actually change the character gameplay like in elysian realm!! It's so interesting to build buffs and combining it with your character unique extra skills!! Please hoyoverse, I don't think that's too much....
22:00 yep used to be me. I thought to myself “Well I’ve done so much in this game and spent on it so it would be a waste if I quit” but then I realized that the longer I play the heavier that burden becomes and I will feel more and more trapped. So broke the chain and now I rarely log in at all. This will also make me more cautious with future games I play, so I look at it as a lesson learned. An expensive lesson but a lesson.
ive never spend that much but fomo is so real for me; just stopping playing would "waste" the almost 3 years ive spent my time dedicated to this game. i started weaning out at the start of december anddd yeah, i feel lighter than ever and never felt guilty for not logging on the game on the daily basis.
there're still events but i strategically distribute its progress for the dailies so after finishing them, i wont have to log in for more than week/s, except when there's mail.
same story, playing since 1.0 (iirc i make my account on the first day of launch because im so exicted with the game since im also playing hi3rd at that time)
The new player experience is so amazing, then comes the barrage of drama in the community and tbh that makes me doesnt want to interact with the gi community (especially on twitter) , im still playing and never skip a single patch until they drop the sumeru desert and at that time im already feeling burn out from the daily chore and the huge map with so little reward doesnt help, then they release dehya which is my biggest disapointment on genshin, decided to take a break during the free kaeya skin drop and im also hoping that fontaine will make enjoy the game again, when taking a break from genshin, i try a different kind of game (non gacha) from borderland series, bioshock, my time at portia etc and turns out i enjoy all those game a lot more, i dont need to log in everyday just to claim a daily mission reward, i dont need to care about fomo from limited time event etc.
Finally i decide to try genshin again when they drop furina banner, but only 15 minute in to the game and hearing paimon voice just make instantly close the game and never look back.
The “gameplay” is a hype-driven hamster wheel. It’s just getting characters and weapons, grinding for them in new regions, rinse and repeat. Oh, and scatter a bunch of easter eggs throughout the map. Rinse and repeat.
I just don’t care about characters when there’s nothing to do with them except grind for the next character…rinse and repeat.
I’ve been boycotting the game for a year by now. Best decision I made in my gaming life 😂

Is by and large the most true statement about Genshin.
My main account is AR60, and have a f2p AR55 account that hasnt been touched since sumer of 2022. (Ive only spent about 400$ total and havent spent a dime since Shenhe's first banner)
The current game state is beyond lackluster. I was incredly excited for Sumeru and ended up heavily disliking the story, it felt like an absolute drag. And tbh, Fontaine aint doing it for me either.
It's gotten to the point where every single time i load up the game im greeted by the 'Welcome Back' bonuses.
And after all that the devs still spit in the face of the community with a measly 3 IF to a single server.
The baffling part is that i still have many friends OBSESSED with Genshin. Though at least they aren't brainrotten to the point of calling me racist when speaking out about these issues.
Calling out the issues of the game is insanely important, cause lets be real. Genshin was great for a while but they got complacent from being on top. And because of the status it garnered they devs can pull an R.Kelly and piss all over the fanbase, and unlike the victim of that situation. They will gladly take it.
yeah it’s so sad to see that ALOT of these players are willing to spend their money on this game only to be treated like literal shit. Genshit Development team has to get off their high horse cause. 3IF for 3 years? You cannot say to me that it’s not arrogance. It’s sad to see the players be happy for a 300 primogem livestream code, or a 600 primogem update download compensation.
100% agreed. The game hasn't changed over the course of these three and a half years, it's so stale. In terms of content, we can say that Genshin is "dead", basically.
@Tectone - idk if you ever read this - but i'm writing this as a Welkin only player (buying only Welkins) AR 59 now.
I play the game for the a ) story b ) nice overworld, helps me relax, c ) to push characters i pull/want to lvl 90, d ) farm artifacts for them - not BIS, just to be "good".
Im not expecting "endgame" , because after i do the domains with condensed resin i just go play Rocket League, or BG3, or World of Warcraft instead. When a new patch comes out, i play the story missions to keep up with current story and move on.
I never viewed Genshin as the "best game", or game i would play an endgame on. Just something nice on the side.
Good job with all the content though, i really enjoy your takes on this nonetheless.

Apparently there are people joining co op telling people to join the boycott on a respectful manner. I saw this in the hoyolab thing.
I think that the Elemental Reaction system is a huge selling point for Genshin. I don't know why it's so overlooked. The actual fighting is ok, but with multiple characters, I expected something more like Honkai Impact 3rd, with QTE's, perfect dodge etc. If Genshin had that, it would be perfect. In Wuthering Waves, it only looks like you do elemental reactions once you trigger a QTE (correct me if I'm wrong); no idea if that is for me then.

I’ve been playing without investments since the “Economy” patch, and every day the main question is where should I drain the resin... Farming artifacts is already pointless, all that remains is to increase the level of 4* which I rarely use...

I left the game but tbh the reason I wasn't bothered at all with Genshin being a cheap copy of breath of the wild is because, BOTW isn't on pc, Eula isn't in BOTW, also at the time genshin was the best gacha game I've ever played, it aged like milk now but if I go back in time and have chance to experience it again? Why not.

Genshin lost me somewhere in Sumeru. It is just more of the same but does not really expand on the endgame or battle content at all. I was at a point where I went in blind and max starred the abyss most of the time so I did not have any motivation to hit the artifact mines and could not even be bothered to use my resin

It's sad but mihoyo actually wants Genshin to die, they created their own nemesis with Honkai Star Rail, and will double it with ZZZ, what they want is to get all the players to quit Genshin and go play HSR or ZZZ, it's a not even subtle strategy to make people see HSR as this amazing game.
But why? Makes no sense to boycott your own product. Is it because DaWei is a Kiana simp and resents Genshin? Not at all, it's business, Genshin is a open world game that costs a shit ton of money, time and effort to maintain and expand, how better would be if they could simply transfer the playerbase to a way way cheaper to develop game making the Return over investment skyrocket?
That's why games like Wuthering Waves are our best allies, if they ever feel that Genshin players will quit the game to play WW and not HSR or ZZZ, well now it's time to step up make Genshin a little better.
The funny thing is that Star Rail literally take a lot of thing that would have been nice in Genshin coming from the fan's feedback and just go yoink. But Genshin doesn't do much, they change the expidition and the level up UI which is the least of the concern

Same. If Genshin dies, that doesn't mean I'll play Star Rail. Just means I'll go to ZZZ or focus more on Wuthering Waves or just go back to FF14. Honkai Star Rail and Genshin are 2 completely different type of games. Plus, if I had to play a turn-based game, I go back to play Final Fantasy because I think FF is better than HSR. The only reason I play Genshin is that it's an anime, polished open-world game with a decent story that's free. The closest to that quality is FF14.
As pretty as HSR is, the writing is pretty poor...and I've seen leaks for Penacony's story too. Another betrayal of some kind of which I won't spoil, but it really feels like Tingyun 2.0...and people didn't give a faq bout Tingyun either way cuz you barely know her. If they're going for something like that again, they better write it in a way I actually care bout the character. @@midwestairway

im autistic and since genshin so happened to be my special interest it really fucking sucks that the game treats us the way it does, i play everyday, spend money sometimes on like welkin or whatever and my resin never reaches 160. i put so much effort for the devs to not care about me or other people who are autistic and accidentally had the game become their special interest, i hope to see change soon :(
also my gf has to listen to me bitch about the game because im AR 57 and did everthing i could, yet im so stuck to genshin with no end game. genshin is a bad game but they could make it good by not being greedy and dick riding new players

Actually the "collecting all berries" thing was honestly something I did personally for quite a long time for a bunch of things.
The collection of materials etc could almost border on obsession with how much time I spent doing it every single day.
Wouldn't say I enjoyed it that much though, and I'm definitely glad I eventually got myself to just let it go, and after a time quit the game entirely.
Edit: Granted I'm almost doing the same in star rail, killing every single mob in every single map every single day since I started.
And I got more materials then i'll ever really use, I mean, I actively HAVE to convert them since going above 100k on materials caps you from claiming rewards containing it.
Not sure what i'll do when all materials reach that point though.
I basically had to reason it out, why are you doing this everyday? Why does that character matter? What does that character do that your current ones don't?
Close your eyes when the banner runs out, you've just missed that character. What happens? You're still alive, you still have food to eat. Nothing happened, it doesn't matter the way you think it does. That character meant nothing, it's just pixels and data.
It's not hard to boycott the game and like you, I'm glad I'm no longer playing it. People need to see that the world doesn't end if you don't get that one character.

Oh it changed, they literally put A LOT, like A LOT of the things we've been asking on those surveys on Honkai Star Rail, I play both games and it's ridiculous to see the difference, every patch on HSR is exciting, we know rewards are coming, we know differente modes are coming, the sub-region events like the one we have to be museum admins is a lot of fun... I'm fucking miserable please send help. i stopped playing during sumeru due to being hacked and burned out and returned for fointaine but got burned out again and got bored again. Yeah as a ar 60 this is hell. I recently bought the game bundle for the fps game Crysis and best spent money ever
I just got back into the game to explore and collect BLUE MINTS AND BERRIES, I was just about to buy the BP lowkey... but no! I shall hold strong
I'm a player that's been playing since first patch and quite frankly I'm kinda chillin. I keep playing so I can play with my favorite characters, they're the only reason I go back, and I play an hour a day at most with friends and we fuck around. I haven't taken enjoyment from the game itself in a very long time, and that's okay. The devs are dogshit for doing what they've been doing, it's appalling and it's fucking bullshit, but I still have my comfort characters in the game and it's the one thing I enjoy truly about genshin, and that's okay. It's why I've been with you for so long Teccy, you say what you mean and you dgaf, and for the most part our opinions actually align. I've long since come to accept that the devs aren't gonna do shit to fix anything in genshin, it's why I semi dropped that game and went to starrail, that shit is dope as hell, it's why I'm looking forward to WuWa so much and I can't wait for you to play it and cover it. #YinlinBestGirl

I stopped playing Genshin because for every 3hrs of talking to random npcs I would get about 1 second of actual gameplay. Or I would spend time and resources to get my characters to lvl 90 just to have them running around a mini game jumping from platform to platform. What's the point!?!

Still playing after starting at patch one but now I only occasionally play as there isn't much to do now. Mostly same old fluff and I don't have the time to put in to grinding for nothing. Both HSR and Genshin are just my brain dead games to relax/chill.

You know its sad when a feature, content, event is more sought after then rewards in a gacha game.
Gacha games are all about pulling, enjoying events, asking for apologems every maintenance shenanigans just for fun and enjoying everything.
But events in this game are long stories, a couple interesting mini game events and THATS IT. The battle ones are spyral abyss mini and only more fun because trial characters.
I really want to use my characters in this game, i want to see huge numbers against fun bosses like Ajdaha(did i write it right?), I WANT END GAME.
Dude today is my birthday. In Honkai Star Rail I got a birthday in-game mail message with 100 stellar jades. In Genshin Impact I got a birthday in-game mail with absolutely zero Primogems. Wtffff 😂
I hate it when people literally only played one game in their entire lives go on that genshin has the best anything. There was someone that commented during the game awards that genshin should have won best music reward, for instance. Genshins music is nice in some instances, but there are dozens of games with "Subjectively" better music than genshin. One or two good tracks isnt award worthy, but these people are extrememly short sighted and nothing else really exists to them.

Wuthering Waves changing the story BEFORE the game comes doesn't equate to retroactively changing the entire of dialogue. It's possible but ultimately not worth their time, it has ZERO potential value to Genshin as a business.
BTW not defending the game, just being practical. It's like ask Hoyo to revamp ALL of Honkai Impact 3rd Part 1 (not going to happen).
A more realistic change would be to innovative on NEW content. Improve the quality bar essentially.

I’m ar 59 long time, because I dropped game, but if I played I would be 60. Did I enjoyed? Maybe, do I like new characters and fights? No, it’s bored
I think one problem is for a lot of players, Genshin is their very first gacha game, maybe even their first live service game. In other words, they don't know what it's like to be treated better, so they think the way they're being treated is fine and normal.
If my info down the streets is correct, the director for genshin came from directing an old era of honkai 3 which was also critiqued by the fans for their stingy attitude. The current director for HSR seems to be still/used to in charge of the present honkai 3 that veteren Hoyo fan loves.
So to me, the devs still pour thier hearts and souls in genshin while the upper management of the team tries to milk the fans.
