  • 11 Jun 3310: The Thargoids' apparent weakness in recent weeks means they are preparing something devastating, according to the Imperial liaison to Aegis. And Dr Ivano Colombera added that if we don't bring the Thargoid War to a speedy conclusion, we are likely to suffer the consequences of some sort of devastating counterstrike.

      I just want the Thargoid war to end. How much longer are we going to have to defend our home systems in the bubble? How many more stations must we lose? Hasn’t this gone long enough?

      @@tailsfan11westandwithukraine For a start, we're winning the war (currently). Added to that, the thargoid war is the primary gameplay for thousands of players, and only takes place in about 200 systems out of 20,000-100,000 in and around the bubble.
      Can't you enjoy your gameplay in the 99.9% of inhabited systems which don't contain any trace of thargoid, and leave the 0.01% of war systems to those of us who really enjoy that content?

    I hope it'll be a total all-out bubble-wide attack before Powerplay 2.0 that collapses the Powerplay powers, resets BGS (every minor faction back to their home system and deletion of PMF-s) and sets the game back to square one with numerous new Powerplay powers* raising from the ashes and BGS relegated back to be the _background_ simulation ungovernable by players ;) A perfect opportunity to undo the 10-years-old mess and start fresh :P
    _*Just 11 powers now, one third of which are Imperials... We need more variety!_

    • @trouvereyork
      @trouvereyork Месяц назад +5

      There's no way they'll do that. Some CMDRs have built up minor factions over nearly 10 years. A hard reset on all that effort would go down spectacularly badly.

    • @cmdr.shurimal8980
      @cmdr.shurimal8980 Месяц назад

      @@trouvereyork It'd be a hard pill to swallow but PMF-s were a mistake from the beginning. Especially considering that there are no hard restrictions to expanding a MF to hundreds of star systems. As a result, you can't pull shenanigans anywhere without stepping on the toes of some PMF with active group behind it. Fdev must also have realized that the current situation with PMF-s and BGS is unsustainable since they closed the registration of new PMF-s before the Thargoid war.
      Add to that the fact that BGS was not originally meant to be deliberately manipulated by players and Powerplay was envisioned as something for player groups to throw their weight at and play politics with (but turned out to be lackluster to say the least).
      In short, PP 2.0 should be the powerplay originally envisioned and BGS should have mechanisms to limit deliberate player manipulation. Things like influence decay dependent on distance from home system, random states reducing controlling faction influence (pirate/terrorist attacks, natural disasters, the 1% influence faction attempting a coup/revolution causing a war, non-native factions randomly deciding they don't want to spread themselves too thin and retreating even when being the controlling faction), more missions (including legal missions) that target any faction regardless of government type reducing its influence, removal of Inf rewards for missions.

    • @trouvereyork
      @trouvereyork Месяц назад

      @@cmdr.shurimal8980 I'm all for Frontier adjusting the BGS and making it interact better and more smoothly with powerplay, but I present a hard no to any progress wipes.
      Progress wipes in games are a disease. By all means make it trickier to maintain large factions with systems far from their native systems and let the game gently find a new balance.
      My main problem with the BGS and PP at the moment is that it seems to have no effect beyond just reordering the names of the factions on a system board. I'm hoping that, whatever Fdev do, they inject a ton of varied theme and flavour into the benefits and appearance of one faction from another.
      Of course, it's procedurally generated so we are bound to spot recurring patterns if we look closely enough, but more and more layers of possible variation are always a good thing.

      @@trouvereyork Yep this is what I don't understand about the 'moah thargoids? big sad' complaints. It's optional gameplay tucked away in a couple of corners of the galaxy. If some players don't like it, ignore it. Or they could actually get involved with cargo hauling, passenger rescues, etc and find out it's more interesting than Robigo runs.
