What the actual f*ck is this? This isn't the Elite: Dangerous I remember. It's MUCH more awesome. How long would I have to have played to witness something like this? (As in: How long for me to get the proper equipment and "story" progress)
I got flown in by another kind CMDR because I had none of the equipment needed to get into the Titan’s cloud, so if you’re with the right people, no time at all.
In order to witness it first hand? At the stage of its self-destruction, you'd have complete access to everything minimally you need. I was able to guide a friend completely new to the game with no engineering. The bare minimums of two caustic sink launchers and a thargoid pulse disruptor are all you need to 'access' this space. The basic weapons in order to fight thargoids and those two utility items are all available to everyone at a rescue megaship, which are indicated on the galactic map. Having the know how to be effective in the combat might take some more research, experience, and upgrading, but the content is accessible very easily.
