  • Today we replace the leaking vent valve on the charcoal canister. This leak was a tiny leak, but enough to throw the CEL.

It was irritating to me that everyone who has this car and this code it was the charcoal vent valve except me. I wasted money on labor twice replacing it and the canister. My problem ended up being the purge valve on the throttle body. Key symptom being that my car wouldn't start after getting gas. So if you're having that problem, I just saved you a bunch of time and money. The purge valve is easy to replace and you don't have to get under the car.

My check engine light is on and for a while now...got it tested and it said small evap leak....If those little devices can diagnose WHERE the leak is coming from exactly either from gas cap being too loose, canister leak or tubing leaks it would save a lot of time and money spent to get it fixed by professionals...I was told EVAP leak diagnoses are a piss off by mechanics lol ....FYI I LOVE my "POS" honda civic lol

Newer vehicles sensors do that exact thing, these have very basic functions.

Easy 50$ fix, no check engine now. Hardest part is rust(take your time with it and use penetrating lube), took 30 min in total. Vice grips were key here!

My metal EVAP line is snapped in half and stuck inside the plastic adapter line going towards the back of the car

Your evap monitor probably didn't run and the CEL will come back. By replacing the vent valve, it cured the CEL.

@@jameshunt5316 np see how your goes? Let me know...I also changed the fuel cap too. Got all these parts from the junkyard for like $ 15 lol

@Merc pindi jealous, the junk yard near me wants over 120 for the purge and 150 for the solenoid, parts store wants 80 for the valve or 300 for the solenoid, don’t get me started on the canister...
