    Hey mechanic kid! Filling up the garage with Honda's! Nice to see. I have a stash of petcocks in my toolbox. I automatically replace it on every bike I do. They aways get gummed up over the years. Some times replacing the handle itself fixes the return of the throttle. Those are about 7 bucks on Ebay as well. Keep up the videos!

    Wow, great job! The heat gun trick is a great tip.. I'll definitely be using it in the future. And you answered my question on the elite vs aero that I replied/asked about in your 84 aero video. I think mine topped out close to 40, maybe slightly faster.. and super responsive and quick for a 50cc. I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for an 84.. I do like the looks a bit more and it being a bit smaller too... as well as a kickstarter, I guess they skipped that on the 85's.

      If you use heat be careful because it will kinda warp the plastic if you leave it in one spot to long. That tire shine alone does an extremely good job tho also👍🏼

    Hi Mechanic Kid. I recently picked up a 1986 aero 50. I was curious if you changed the oil or not? Some people say you dont need to nut I am still contemplating it. I believe it just uses Honda 2-stroke oil.

    Where did you get the flywheel puller from can you link me to one , I have that same issue .. literally new lines , ultra sonic deep cleaned carb, have some spark and decent compression, new plug , tank just cleaned and new petcock . I pulled the side engine cover off and it looks just like your aero flywheel if not worse

      I bet it’s your bystrter! It’s a little electric choke on the carburetor. I usually just cap it off with a rubber glove. I show it in the video. If not maybe the carb needs cleaned. Hope that helps

    I love your idea with the throttle cable! I just picked up an 85 aero 50 as my first ever scooter project, it's not currently running and needs a lot of work. I have a few issues with it, and was wondering if you could help out. The throttle seems to be stuck open, as in I can turn the handle the opposite way it should go and it returns to where it's stuck. Also, my front wheel is locked, and after removing it, I found that the brake is really hard to move. Do you know why either of these problems would be happening and how to fix them?

    • @Mechanic_kid
      @Mechanic_kid  3 года назад +1

      To fix the throttle I would first remove it from the carburetor side aka the throttle slide on the top of the carburetor. Make sure that looks good. If all looks good you need to remove the throttle on the bars and make sure it’s sitting correctly. Sounds like the brake shaft that opens and closes your brake shoes it’s corroded and not returning. Pull the brake shores and make sure that pin move very freely. Use some penetrating oil and work it back and forth. Hope this help👍🏼

      @@waffleracer0411 common problem! Get some penetrating oil down where the slide goes into the carburetor. Also squirt some in through were the air cleaner would be. Remove your air cleaner and look in through the hole. You should be able to get a screwdriver in there and get under the slide and pry it up why pulling for the top.

    what’s your process for painting plastics? i purchased the same paint you use but in black and i also bought some clear coat. do you sand them at all prior to paint ?

    • @Mechanic_kid
      @Mechanic_kid  3 года назад +1

      Clean them with water and maybe a little soap. Scuff them with like 400 or 800 grit sandpaper (not essential. On my other scooter I didn’t scuff the plastics before hand because then if you were to ever strip the paint your original plastic would be messed up). Then wash it again or use a rag with acetone on it. Do one super light, medium and heavy coat of paint. If you do 3-4 coats you get a glossy finish and technically don’t need clear coat. If you are tho, you must use Max 2k clear! It’s the only real clear coat in a can that will work. It’s super toxic so be careful! Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions👍🏼

    • @Mechanic_kid
      @Mechanic_kid  3 года назад +2

      For the most part, yes! But I search a 200mile radius from my house. I won’t go that far though unless it’s a super good deal. The Aeros and elites are definitely hard to find! Not everyone is willing to drive a ways to pick a scooter up, which leaves the opportunity to get a good deal if your willing to put the time in to go get it...hope this helps and best of luck finding one👍🏼 search everyday, one will pop up!
