      Man I had one almost exactly like this but mine was a 125cc if I remember correctly and she would do 80mph wound right out but it wasn't very safe to do lol because at that speed everything shook and vibrated quite violently on it but it'd do 65mph highway speeds just fine and had some "get-up-n-go" to her for a moped I could grab the front brake, stand up then pin itt and shed sit still and spin the back tire just a rolling smoke and once it got going I could sit back down and it's stay spinning then id let off the brake and take off doing a rolling burnout for like 10ft I loved that lil thing it was like a fat girl- fun as hell to ride but ya didn't want your friends to catch ya on it hahahaha then in Dec of 2008 when we had no snow for a week straight I took it out for a rip around town and had a 73yr old man pull out in front of me and stop and I was doing around 45-50mph couldn't stop but had both wheels locked right up till I t-bones his car which landed me in the hospital for 3 n half months because I shoved 4 ribs through my thoracic aorta (heart) and after multiple surgeries they finally put me back together and my wrist has titanium plates and bolts in it, missing half the muscle of my lower left leg and took me over a year to learn to walk again... thankfully I was able to get a lawyer and unfortunately they didn't fight real hard for me so I ended up getting 90k settlement of which I got 54k sucks because I can't walk or stand for very long and it completely changed how I live my life... I guess I'm just grateful to be alive 🙏

    If you plan on keeping it, replace the fuel lines as they are a very inferior chinese rubber and will deteriorate, put a petcock on the fuel tank as the vacuum valve tends to leak and not open all the time. The electric choke (enrichment needle) tends to seize in the bore keeping the choke to engage, a Q-tip rubbed on the inside and the brass ferrule is good but a manual choke is best.

    There is usually a small spacer between the two halves of the variator (front pulley). It stops the two halves closing fully up and serves as a top speed restricter by limiting the effective “high”speed gearing. Remove it and you will have taller gearing and faster top speed. Low speed take off from a standstill is unaffected.

    • @bevis226
      @bevis226 2 года назад +3

      Yep remove the spacer and put a cheap 24mm? Mikuni clone carb off of amazon it and it will do 70mph tops with a 150lb rider on a flat road. My POS 50cc scooter rips lol. Performance Exhaust helps a good bit as well. Remove the EGR restricted exhaust. My next upgrade is 100cc big bore kit. It needs more bottom end torque. It's still pretty darn slow going up hills.

    • @Fredjoe5
      @Fredjoe5 2 года назад +3

      The 3 most common methods of restriction are the variator, the CDI, and also the exhaust. Many times a small restrictor is placed in the exhaust where the manifold bolts to the muffler. It can either be simply placed in there, or is sometimes tack welded in place. Removing that gives the full performance.

    These will run fine if you take care of them. I’ve put well over 10k km on a couple examples and they still ran fine when I sold em. Yes, that dash reads in km. These things generally get a bad rep over little things going wrong, then it stops running and the owner doesn’t know what to do.. it’s almost always something simple and cheap. I rode these things exclusively for several years.. fixed up a couple heaps in that time, rebuilt a couple engines, ect. Just be sure it’s not running too hot.. I disintegrated a piston that way once. I still daily two wheelers, it’s just a Honda 250 at The moment.
    Also, that is a scooter. Mopeds have pedals. No peds= not moped.
    There’s a ton of info on these things and easy mods/upgrades if you do a little googling.

    I just bought one two week’s ago, it’s amazing how much faster they can be with $80 worth of Amazon parts and it runs unbelievably for a cheap Chinese gy6 engine

    Hi in the uk that ped is a boatian bt49 good little bike it’s downfall is if you leave it out in the rain it’s petrol tank fills with water. The kids cut that wire to the ecu and the wires to the variation case as they think it de restricts them not so sure myself

    wonder if that cut wire was a speed/engine restriction?
    I find used engine oil wiped on faded plastic then thoroughly wiped off works well.

    In those engines loads of speed limiters , like wires on ecu , or stuff under belt cover where is a clutch, anyway loads of speed limiters. :)

    The great thing is that scooter has been made by like 200 Chinese manufacturers and is still made identically to this day. Back in 2016 TX Motorsports had them for $599 shipped lol I bought it just based on principle but man was it a dog.. 30mph tops.. I didnt know about the green wire another user mentioned.

    I just picked up a modified 2022 ruckus a couple weeks ago I’ve put 666 miles on it as of this moment and 6.6 gallons of fuel in which has cost $29.78 if my calculations are correct it comes out to 101 mpg average and $0.0447 per mile which is slightly more then the 2021 Tesla model 3 plus extended range RWD which according to online was the cheapest electric car to operate in 2021 at $0.0308 per mile. I couldn’t find anything for 2022 models. Things a blast I highly recommend getting one to anyone looking at them or interested in anything similar

    The wire had been cut because the previous owner did the usual trick of trying to un-restrict the moped to make it faster, have you checked the spindle on the carburetor diaphragm to see what groove the cir-clip is on?
    if the wire is cut and the cir-clip for the spindle is on the middle one watch how much faster it does.
    by cutting the wire it stops sending the RMP message to the CDI and thinks it has no revs or idle, this causes the bike to rev higher or more freely, by changing the cir-clip on the diaphragm it allows more fuel through.
    it would be good to see you try this in one of your videos.
    have fun and great channel

    Being 65 years old I would love to have one of these little bikes to drive about a new childhood. Yet in Ontario Canada with an absolute clean (Car) driving history with not one ticket, or insurance claim or accident in 50 years, our insurance looks at me as a teenager with no driving history.... insurance is $2,600.00 every year for at least five years. Yet complete coverage insurance on my new Dodge Caravan is less than a $1,000.00 a year. (Canadian dollar is $0,80 USA dollar). But a lovely little bike you have there!

    Look at a 1950s straight eight engine. Some used 6 Volt batteries to turn over the starter to start the engine. Six volts can turn over an engine and start it. BTW, that cut wire was the CDI Rev Limiter. You can go faster with it cut.

    I bought a 150cc scooter for $100, it had been abandoned, attempted theft and the woman had crashed it and failed her license test, it needed tires, brakes, battery, front directionals, intake boot, carb work and its still a rickety old scooter which I adore, I have more into it than it's worth but is ideal around town errands and such, I have a vfr800 for more spirited riding
