So I just got a new used scooter. Meaning its not new but its new to me. I appreciate this video so much. I would say im above average technically, but could always use a how to here and there. The problem with most videos that I watch is they usually like to make them as short as possible and will usually skip a removal here and there especially if they are having problems. I dont know if its a matter of pride or maybe they feel the viewer doesnt way to see what problems may occur when making a repair, which I disagree with since the reason a user watches these is to see how to do the repair including when the person doing the work runs into a problem. This video changed all that. You addressed so many possibilities and were perfectly fine is you diagnosed one of them wrong you just continued on with the progress. I learned so much not only about how to make several repairs but also what to expect. For instance, I was watching a video on repairing a toilet which involved removing and replacing the old rusty bolts that connect the seat with the tank. The guy had an old toilet where the bolts were rusty so I thought this would be perfect. The video he showed the toilet together where he explained and showed where the bolts were and how he was going to take them off. Then the video ended and restarted with the tank separated from the seat and he went on to show how to replace with the new bolts. I didnt figure it out till later that the reason he stopped the video at that point is because since the bolts on his were so rusted he couldnt just undo the bolts and ended up having to get a hack saw and try to cut through the bolt from in betweent the tank and the seat and hope to not crack or break either of the two parts in the process. You would think that would be something you would want to mention to the watcher when creating the how to video but no, just stop the video and start it showing how easy it is to just add the new bolts and not mention how hard it is to remove the old rusty ones. Anywoo, I complement you and thank you on your video. As I said I learned not only how to make the repair, but how to diagnose as well as how to handle when even the repair doesnt resolve things Again thank you
It’s gonna be fun when you learn more about the cvt parts after everything gets working right. It can wake up the scooter all around. The a carb of the same size that can have the jets changed would also be awesome to help it run smoother
My Kickstarter won't work for some reason and I changed the hose that was bleeding do I have to have the battery charged before I can use the kickstart because the battery is dead as well good spark plug and a brand new fuel filter and a brand new fuel hose the rest of the hoses are fine I need help it won't turn over kick start won't work
@@fatlaed6251 i charge the battery if it’s completely dead. They say it will start with a dead battery but it really means if theirs still some juice left

From this video I learned that cheap Chinese scooters are great for learning repair skills but they are awful for reliable transportation. Great example of how cost cutting in mass manufacturing can reach such an extreme that the resulting products are hardly worth buying. Unless you want a disposable vehicle (or a money pit) you are better off buying a Honda, Yamaha or even a Taiwanese Kymco
Bought a Chinese 250 off Amazon. It was crap. Put 300 miles on it but the labor hours fixing everything just kept adding up. Gave it away to a younger father who wanted a project bike for him and his son to play with. Bought a usedHonda a couple of years ago. Haven't had one bit of trouble with it.
I really appreciate this fix because I just bought a 2020 viper 49 cc moped, and after it running real good for about 4 months it won't run now is very hard to start and stop and start again.
The problem with cheap Chinese clone bikes is you have nine different things go wrong all at the same time. They just take too many shortcuts with quality. I'm impressed how well you did getting it running with no experience. If you ever see a starter flopping all around like that you know you have a problem. You're better off finding a project Honda or Yamaha to work on. Once you get it fixed up it'll actually be worth something.
Just bought one with 1395 miles . Start but wouldn't stay running . Took fuel tank off and cleaned it out . Replaced carburetor. Replaced Cone air filter with original airbox . Runs like new . I'll keep fuel tank full and add HEET additive to it . Letting these GY6 engines set outside will destroy them . Those small fuel systems easily get contaminated with moisture .
Ethanol fuel compoonds that problem. If you put a fuel shut off on it and run it out of gas you should have that problem. I like to add fuel shutoffs to any small gas engines I have. Fuel sitting in the carb causes all sorts of problems.
@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel I never could understand why the USA wants to prop up farmers for such an unnecessary product . How many producer's of ethanol can there be ? One local gas station has all grades ethanol free . Cost a little more . They even have a full service isle like back in the day . PURE GAS Radford Va.
If you let it sit for a while use Fuel Stabilizer or Non-ethanol gas. The Ethanol in the gas is what attracts moisture and gums up the carb jets and passages.
@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel agreed. But I like to take it a step further on seasonal equipment and follow up by running a tank empty or keeping it 3/4 with an additive.

Replacing these carbs with aftermarket is a must. The stock carb is jetted way too lean to meet CA emissions standards as cheaply as possible. It's lean enough to be detrimental to the engine over time, especially on 87 octane.
While I do agree that an aftermarket carburetor, with properly tuned jetting. Is a very welcomed improvement over the original. Sorry to say but any assumption that the machine won't run. Where the engine was running quite well in the beginning, with the original carb. But was totally messed up by the end of the video with the new carb (clogged)!

The choke cover.& plunger slide may need A port cleaning to for better flow. To let the automatic choke to turn itself off to take on it's own.
Those carbs are serviceable but ya gota drill the heads off of those screws and remove them with vice grips. They use Red loctite on them and twist the heads off so you can't take them apart. Annoying to deal with but they do come apart.
If you didn't clean out the tank more rust can get into the carb. Check hot and ground for float. Otherwise great job for a beginner. Switch for HI/Low could be bad or a broken wire.
Thanks for video... I liked the honesty of video...I hate it when I get something together , buy well sh@# I still have one part in my hand that needed to go on first
I know its been years, but maybe my comment will help someone who is watching for help with theirs. Since your wire harness melted, I would think most your problems are electral. Those carbs have an electric choke. I would check that.
I just bought new 2021 edition with zero miles, now Its got over 500 miles. Thing is sometimes it haves trouble starting, I sometimes got to put gas on it for it to be able to start.
Save yourself a lot of grief and put a good fuel filter. That alone will save a huge amount of head scratching and carburetor cleaning! By your description, the carb already needs some attention! But at least can be just once! Otherwise it will be until the next time! ;-) Just like the BAD example on this video! Which started with a quite good sounding engine! To finish with a really crap sounding machine. And that was with a new carb thrown into the equation!
I solved the starting issue with this bike , I took out that useless cheap battery and replaced it with a larger battery from Lowes and now it never runs down .
My friends selling me his for $200 and I just bought a new carb for it cuz the idle jet was completely pack and I'm pretty sure that was the only problem got a new battery also. Carb cleaner in the intake it sounded great for a few seconds

On that tao Tao moped you half to have. What's called A 10 AMP fused linked wiring circle eyelet connected into your wiring harness. For correct power source to flow through the system do to not having one the moped. Like came from factory the way it was designed bro. Put A inline 10 AMP fused linkable back on the wiring harness to send correct amperage through the wiring system properly.
I got an issue with my 50cc scooter too, when i roll on the throttle it wouldn't move forward, and when i rev it really hard, it would lunge forward very fast, seems kinda dangerous. Any idea what could be wrong with it? thanks in advance
servicing these carbs, super easy, douche it with carb cleaner, then blow it out, let it dry. generally that fixes most issues. always replace the fuel lines if you're going that far, and make sure there's no kinks, that's a common problem with these, use high quality hose. "performance carbs are barely worth bothering with, just replace with closest to OEM, with a filter kit, they kind of help, but only if you've removed the restrictors. If you get the $30-$40 better big bore kit, the 80cc is much less pain in the ass, then you'll get a boost from a performance carb. have someone make a pipe for you, unless it's a 2 stroke, they're incredibly simple, I say "make", bc the aftermarket chinese shit pipes rust away fast af.
Actually, you can clean those carbs. Take a hacksaw or a Dremel with a cutoff wheel and cut screwdriver slots in the heads of those anti-tamper screws. Easy peasy…….
Next time, if you don't want to stomp the kick starter 100 times, apply some vacuum (sucking on a rubber hose is fine) to the vacuum operated petcock. That will open the petcock allow the carburetor bowl to fill with gas.
My blinkers aren't working. On one in a while but rarely. They never blinked before. Always had to click on and off. Guy had it before me made bunch of cheap changes to it.
hard to believe that huge chunk of metal laying on the belt wasn't immediately apparent. btw, it would have still started, just hold in both brakes at the same time, it has nothing to do with the headlights, down is normal, up is bright, it also won't start with the kick stand down center stand is fine. and the kill switch is obviously the one with the big X on it. Keep your day job, fun video tho! :)
Right side brake lever is the one to hold in when you press the starter button. And it will start while it's on the kickstand. WTH are you even talking about? I own a 2020 TaoTao 50cc
figured that was a row house backyard. I'm in the same city dealing with a Wolf RX50. It likes to overheat and cut out but only on or near Observatory Circle for some reason. I guess WOT for several blocks and the hill does it. The kickstarter is dead on this one too at 3k miles. Oh well can't afford a Honda Trail for a while.
@@verriahowe4334 got rid of it for free and the kid dealing with it is frustrated too. Made in China. I had a Genuine ( Taiwanese ) that ran well until I was robbed. Now I have a good running Vento that was apparently assembled here in the US even if it is an orphan brand now.
By using butt connectors.& heatshrink over the wiring above the connectors. To pull down over them to seal them up water tight afterwards. Listen to me bro. It's because of not having that fused link in the wiring harness it will keep on blowing.& ruining stuff until you add it back into the wiring.
There is a gas safety valve at the bottom of the tank, it is actuated by vacum so you need the piston moving and a healthy vacum line in order to make this valve work and pump gas to the carb

@@crpth1 I have gotten the kick starter to work again. Bending the clip tightly together worked. 3rd. time a charm. Well maybe one more time to upgrade more cvt goodies as soon as they come in the mail. Thanks for-sure have been ordering stuff to.
absolutely clueless
From the first start attempt, I immediately knew, "buckle up, and start removing plastic panels!"
You have to push the bulb in before you turn it, it's spring loaded.
Check your clutch mine was doing it one of the clutch arms was busted allowing the wheel to keep going.
You need more practice the bike does rocket if you hit it to hard so slowly Rev it to speed its not a motorcycle
servicing these carbs, super easy, douche it with carb cleaner, then blow it out, let it dry. generally that fixes most issues. always replace the fuel lines if you're going that far, and make sure there's no kinks, that's a common problem with these, use high quality hose.
It's fun watching someone trying to figure out something they have no clue about 🤔🤣
is that yellow bike an e-bike?
Hold the right break in an push button an buy bat u should have a fuse check fuse put it on run an should go
Actually, you can clean those carbs.
I have electrical problems with mine right now and i cannot take off the paneling that covers it in fear that i may nreak it
Even though it a new carb, you will still need to clean the jets
Snap ring pliers?
Mines bogging down... but seems to change when I mess with the battery terminal. It doesn't seem to have a strong connection.
Check cvi, you can also move the top float needle to dial in air to fuel mixture
Don’t quit your day job 😉
JET IT.....good lord man... gotta tune the carb
My blinkers aren't working. On one in a while but rarely. They never blinked before. Always had to click on and off. Guy had it before me made bunch of cheap changes to it.
How did you fix the bogging down when you twist the throttle?
He changed the carburetor and fuel filter. There was rust in the filter and fuel. Check the tank and filter for rust. Old gas will rust out the tank.
@11:30 exhaust ? made outa plastic .......comon man , i know its chinese but........ thats the air filter
Wait, you didn't know how motorcycle battery terminal connection points work?
hard to believe that huge chunk of metal laying on the belt wasn't immediately apparent. btw, it would have still started, just hold in both brakes at the same time, it has nothing to do with the headlights, down is normal, up is bright, it also won't start with the kick stand down center stand is fine. and the kill switch is obviously the one with the big X on it.
Over heating is a top end problem
@@verriahowe4334 got rid of it for free and the kid dealing with it is frustrated too. Made in China. I had a Genuine ( Taiwanese ) that ran well until I was robbed. Now I have a good running Vento that was apparently assembled here in the US even if it is an orphan brand now.
By using butt connectors.& heatshrink over the wiring above the connectors. To pull down over them to seal them up water tight afterwards. Listen to me bro. It's because of not having that fused link in the wiring harness it will keep on blowing.& ruining stuff until you add it back into the wiring.
I need a picture of top view of carb vac hoses an gas line please some one ... video on u tube top dark to see ...thanks
Their little screws, they screw into a nut on the opposite side of the does nut or square
you needed snap ring pliers
on tao taous you have to hold the left break cable and ignition swiitch togethe to get it to start
nope...the right side-Front brake lever and the starter button is how my 2020 works.
Man I wish I could find something like this for $200 🤯
Yes is
I need help with mine mine won't start like not getting fuel is there a shut off fuel valve or something
There is a gas safety valve at the bottom of the tank, it is actuated by vacum so you need the piston moving and a healthy vacum line in order to make this valve work and pump gas to the carb
@@paco_rider yea mine ain't on tank it further down I replaced it with manual shut off ppl say that's better lol
@@roybray8741 - As usual "people" are nothing more than a bunch of ignorant hunches. Based on hear say!
A good (working) vacuum shut off is the way to go on a scooter covered with plastics. There's really no need to reinvent the wheel!
And it sounds like a bad grounding engine to frame to battery always had an extra ground wire I always do to the starter
