Freeez were a British band who had a previous UK hit with 'Southern Freeez'. Created in New York with Arthur Baker, John Robie and Jellybean Benitez (before their work with New Order) this was one of the first electro dance hits to highlight the street-scene happening in the New York boroughs. It has remained an influential track that's often sampled and all the original mixes were re-issued in 2011.

If I build a time machine... which of you would like to go back to the 80s with me?
Seeing the LPs and the cassettes...and this song...fills my heart with great nostalgia...we were happy in the 80s...and we didn't know it!
Total mente de acuerdo.
Well said

I'm right with you generation x🎉🎉

So good to hear this again. 1983 was a fantastic year.
🖐👍😊

🥰🥰🥰
Yes, the year where i’m born but this song from 1984.
🇫🇷
This song was often played at radio 1984 .
I was on a school trip to London in 1983. We stayed with local families. I still remember when one of the hosts (cool black dude) walked down the street with his ghetto blaster playing IOU. I had never heard anything like it. That song was/is just A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
No one can tell me culture has improved…. 70s, 80s, 90s were pinnacle! ❤
when George W was elected I said Damm, it's like the bad things of 80s all over again but now there's not even any good music. 😂
90s maybe. 80s were horrible.
I miss the 80s. Listening to this brings back the feeling. The nostalgia is almost overwhelming 🥰
BMX, ghetto blasters, and robotics, magic memories of those times!
Because NOTHING beat the 80s baby
Anyone else is going through all their favorite jams thinking about how life was back in the days ? Tell me I'm not the only one ✌🏼️
I was born in the 2000s. Recently I bought my first car made in 1989 and I like to listen to this music of its era while I drive it. Makes me wonder how much my car would have to tell if it could speak! Where did it drive to? Who drove it there? How many babies were made in your back seat? Needless to say after I pressure wash those seats, I'm keeping it forever
Just listened to Vienna by Ultravox. What a tune.
Of course you're not..right back to school dayzzzzze...love my 80's even though I'm a 60/70's rocker at heart
Funkmaster I am def o I'm 50 and crazy as hell thinking of my first love Chris

80’s was the era with the best music and artists ever!!!
That's a bonafide fact.
Guitar keyboards.
Boom box ghetto blasters.
Hip hop break dancing.
Headbands that were sunglasses.
Digital watches.
....
I loved living in the 80s!!!!
Zipper shirts, studded belts, poppin n' lockin!
Man it was such a privilege to be alive and in the prime of my life during the 8o's! So many fond memories. And the music of that era was mesmerizing and is still unmatched even to this day!
I never seen the video until now after 40 years. I would never thought that it was 2 white guy s
I agree with you a hundred percent
@@josephbennett934 Probably wasn't. Look up the Milli Vanilli scandal. In the 80s the music industry was getting other people to sing the songs and then getting these "artists" to pretend to be the ones who were singing it. Eventually the truth came out!
@@TonyMontana33452 The video shows Jonny Rocca who wrote and performed the music and was the brainchild behind freeze. Also did some house / garage music during the late eighties and early nineties rave scene.
Almost 40 years later, and i still LOVE it...
OK, we call Doc Brown and entering the Time - Machine.. ehh😉
I simply love listening the songs of the Disco genre. They are so "dancy" and melodious.
Btw, I learned the Vowels - AEIOU - through this song. 🤣

Have the 80s close to my heart I was 7 years old in 1983 and fond memories of break dance everybody was doing it in schools and on the playground where I lived
YES even here in Sweden 🇸🇪
Good times to be a kid
God,I miss the 80s😢 best time to grow up!❤❤
This song is still banging all these years later
Summer 1983 - I was 20 and it was my first holiday without my parents. Lad's holiday to Benidorm with my two best mates. This tune was blasting out of all the bars and clubs. Fond memories.
Thank you for sharing !
This isn't the 1983 version, this is the 1987 re-mix. The video is the same for both, but the sound is different. This is the 1983 version: ruclips.net/video/y7ab3PSbvvU/видео.html
@@sarahaldaman5663 yeah, i love this 80th vibe while lisitening to this too
I also was 20 back then 🤣🤣🤣
@@winstonbeckford785 A child of the 60's like me then. Take care mate.
I was 10 years old and listen to this non stop. I had learned how to tape on cassettes. If only I could have one day, juts one.
This was on heavy rotation on NY Hot Tracks back in the day!
After all these years this song still slaps!!!
@@yansatoussaint2266 Yes it does
@Tonja E. Withers - Gurl yes! I can hear it now. Sitting there with the cassette player trying to record the song and then all of a sudden before it ends the DJ cuts in, “98.7 kiss FM....” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And now you gotta wait for it to come back on and try again!

40th anniversary to this forgotten song of the 80's 😊
Forgotten?
This song was ringing out in Brooklyn, NY. The summer of the 80s... Good times. I miss them!

The best years and we didnt even know it. Sad.

Nice me 54 yes time flies but yes still love this song and listen almost exclusively to 80's pop but that was my time in music take care.

My high school days were surrounded by this and other classic house songs….
I can't believe this is 40 years old! I remember it at the time being an awesome tune, and it still is today!
This song was every where back in the mid 80's . It was in constant rotation on the radio. Great song brings me back to 1984.
Love it how the guy on the right with the guitar is having the time of his life! 😀😎😃😎😎
This tune reminds of the summer of 83, with my first love
In all the years I've listened to this song, I only realized now that after he says "AEIOU", he says "I sometimes cry" and "I sometimes lie". I always thought he was saying "and sometimes Y". You know, like the rules of vowels? Mind blown!
😂 me too!!!
I’m 45 now , was 10 when this song came out !! I hate getting old
Hate it too

Who the hell likes it?!?
I'm 53, deal with it....
Yes it's depressing
I'm almost crying here, good times never comeback!!
Don't worry my man you always have your memories

I’m 51 and have two mint BMX bikes from the 80’s just like these. They are carpet queens and haven’t seen the pavement for decades. All of a sudden, just for a brief moment, I’m 14 again 😎
Did you have a BMX back then? My family couldn't afford expensive trainers back then. So now that I can as an old(er) man, I've got a massive collection of 100 pairs that I just look at but never wear. I'm sure it's because it was an itch I couldn't scratch as a 13/14 year old in the early 80's. So I'm wondering if it was the same for you with BMX bikes?
I had 2 BMX's, one was the 2nd most expensive bike in the shop at the time - £111. 😂😂😂 The second I built up from F&F set and cost £300, a lot of money for a bike in 84.
I still have my bikes, still unridden.
@@cerealkiller4248 Blimey, my old man would have a coronary if I'd asked him to pay even £111 for something for me back then. My mum had to threaten to divorce him unless he paid £45 for a Fila tracksuit top for me for Christmas. Then she said he'd asked the bloke in the shop where they bought it: "have they made this out of gold thread or something?"
Take them out and ride them!!!
BEST time's ever 79 to 93 ,listening to this on my Sony walkman riding my BMX, BEST TIME EVER.
I couldn't agree more!
93 !! Bit late in the day, this is early 80's BMX bikes were long gone by 93 🤔
@@sammiianne5295 I was talking about good times, last time I rode my BMX when i was 15 in 88 . Then it was a yamaha TZR-125 .
@@sammiianne5295 BMX was still huge in 93 and pro riders were still getting paid obscene amounts of money. BMX exists today to and is going nowhere. Don't comment a load of inaccurate crap!
Europe was Poppin in the 80's. Lived in Frankfurt, Germany from 1984-1987 and they always played this.
Those 12 D cell batteries and cassette tapes killed my pocket money back then.
I thought putting them in the sun recharged them... Lol
00000
00000
@Miles A ...or putting them in the FREEEZEr (pun intended)! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Because no one could tell me back then that this didn’t keep my D batteries charged!
Geez and I bet those 12 D cells would not have lasted long with the volume cranked up especially if they were just the old school Zinc carbon or what ever they were. Alkaline would have been better but lots more money to buy. My piddly little 4 C cell boom box was heavy on batteries so i just used it on the mains.
This track is ahead of time that still has to come
Music that manages to transport you in the time machine of good memories.............

God I miss the 80s. The innocence and cheesiness of our songs. Haha

One of my Favorites...
I could show this to children. Is this the most wholesome music video ever?
Can't get much more early 80s than this.
Actually, 1981 did not sound like 1983.
Babytron the only rapper to serve these samples justice
1983 : THE MARVELOUS YEAR WHEN THE WORLD WAS ON THE BRINK OF A NUCLEAR WAR, AND FREEEZ WERE SINGING "IOU" TO COMFORT US...
And the world was still a much better place then. A London we will never see again.
ANOTHER TIMELESS CLASSIC! 80"S MUSIC RULES!! the dj
I remember dancing to this classic at Club Xenon West in Ventura California in 1985. So young, so clueless, what a wonderful time!
Remember back in the days when this song was played 10 times per day on tv and radio... 35 fu...ing years
R.I.P. Dear Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson.. the DJ at the beginning of this video, (pointed out to me by the legend Victor Simonelli).. rest easy brother 🙏🏻🙏🏻🎶🎵🎶🎵
Is it the DJ wearing red ? when did he die ?
guleet Yes. Sadly a few weeks ago..
ROBERT DEAN for me Paul were solely responsible for the conception of the UK Garage scene.. he brought US Garage over to the UK and made the scene what it was.. he started a plethora of DJ/Producer careers across the dance music spectrum.. inviting artists like Kerri Chandler and the Burrell brothers over to the Loft.. George Power were his mentor and he started Nice ‘n’ Ripe.. Moreover Paul wasn’t just one of the very best DJs, he were kind and helped people coming up, the music he shared ELEVATED souls.. a true gem that will be sorely missed by many.. 🙏🏻💙🎶🎵🎶🎵🎹🎷
