As a teen in 1984, I was just discovering the magic of electronic music and when this song came out, it instantly blew my mind. It was one of those songs that the VERY first time I heard it, I was completely obsessed and made my Mother take me to the record store. Only found the 45 at first and was desperate for the 12". I was obsessed with the "dub" version as well and even today I can safely say that this song is such an example of pure creativity and a master of sonic goodness. The production on this was amazing and made me a life long fan of John Robie. He created this magic once more and produced an entire album for Jenny Burton called "In Black and White", which is where the song "I remember what you like" came from. The whole album is really good.
@@DJTreviCSRecordings wider grooves = better sound quality and for extended versions.....45 is just the speed its played at.being 45rpm on your turntable...12 inch is like the LP size....normal records were 7 inch i think..still 45rpm.....If you wanted quality....you bought 12 inchers.
@@jonathancox9501 I DJ'ed at that time and used both versions. 45's are radio and promo versions mostly, play at higher RPM with limited length edited to 3-5 minutes. Also the 45s existed due to the existence of Rock-Ola coin disk players of that day used at almost every bar, pub, billiard places. 45s are a lot cheaper. 12 inch singles are extended, non edited versions and if you are a real dance music fan they're the versions to grab. And you are right, 12 inch was the format of music dreams came true. Check the MaxxMelix channel they have the best collection of long lost DJ mixes. Blessings.
I used to turn out the skating floor when I DJ at Wheels Skating Rink in Ferndale on 8 * Meyers playing this song, everyone loved this record.-- Go MUMFORD!!!!

Q es mucica??
Robie the master!!!!!!
Same here. The hook just grabs you, you think that'll be it, then the verse kicks in and its Game Over.
@@DJTreviCSRecordings 33

I am 65 and ready to retire. I had this on the 12inch. and still have it to this day locked in my storage. I had all this music from the 80's and use to blast this song in my condo. The stereo I had was 100 watts and use to blast the bass. Sweet Memories You Member!
