My best mate had just died of Pancreatic cancer and his widow asked what's song would he of danced to the most in the 80's I said this one without a doubt then they played it at his funeral so it has a very special meaning to me RIP Dave
so sorry for your loss RIP Dave
So sorry too mate and condolences to family and friends.
Just want to tell you when I go this tune going with me-so many fond memories of good times👍
😢
80s Britain was Magic 👍🇬🇧
Kickin...even the white men could funk and dance
Just imagine, it's 1981, you're 19 years old, you're 8 pints into your Saturday night; the DJ puts this on and you start to dance, the Strobe lights kick in and you lose yourself in the music; forget the boring job, forget everything and revel in your youth.
Immense. When I was deejaying at college in the early 80s we'd get to the last dance when everybody expected a real smoochie, and my mate and I would slam them with Level 42's Love Games 🤣
A greatest CLASSY reality id like to occur into!!!!🎉❤
I was 20 at the time and into the Brit jazz/Funk scene big time. I still am aged 62. Classic tune!!
Yep. Funkapolitan, Level 42, Beggar and Co, Light of the World and the Mighty Linx. Good times.
I was 20/21 now nearly 64, going back to my college radio roots and doing a monthly retro funk show. Will be revisiting British Jazz Funk over the coming months ❤
An absolute classic that takes me back every time we had music at its best in them days…
I was 21 when I rushed off to buy this single record on vinyl!! Still love it - classic 80’s. I don’t know why it popped into my head
who remembers this great hit Freeez 'Southern Freeez' TOTP (1981)Released:1981.SINGER IS INGRID Mansfield Allman brilliant song
one of the great tunes from that era. There were some terrific bands and music coming out of the UK at that time. Not just the jazz-funk groups but also reggae, post punk/new wave /synth etc. Remember British Hustle about 2/3 years before.
oh HAPPY DAYS when we went out and had fun instead of sitting around looking at mobile phones on social media !!
Tikky Tokky something for nothing generation 👎🏼🙄 Boy are they in fir a shock when they grow up 🤣
Ingrid, bless her.. I see her almost daily in the SGI buddist center.. Strong lady!
This is just CLASSIC, nothing can ever rival the 80s era of music, the rest of the group seem to be happy, except for the lead singer herself.....😮😮
Such a perfect pure smooth voice
memories.............80s was the best kind of music ever........................
Historic. Rare. Perfection. Remember it so well x
One of the first singles I ever bought - particularly loved the B side with the full album version of the song 😄
I remember watching this first time around.
40 years!
Where have they all gone?
100 percent
i was 10 at the time
favourite era for music
And it still sounds fantastic!
Superb 80s Song x The Best Times Ever dancing back then aged 11 years old ❤
That head turn at the end Ingrid..perfect timing. So cool.
Discovered this gem in 2022. Great sound 👌🏽
Me too, on Now Yearbook 81
You know what, I was there at the time but I really envy you younger ones discovering all these classic tunes from that late 70s and early 80s. It must be like entering an Aladdin's Cave!
@@vordmanreally well-put!!!❤
I remember this great song… 41 years ago.!
Massive track from 1981, when this Uk band Freeez hit us with this biggie produced by John Rocca on the Beggrs Banquet punk rock labelwith Ingrid Mansfield Allman
I would have been 15 years old when this was on TOTP, summer of 81. Such a fantastic tune. The guitarist Jean Paul Maunick went on to form Incognito later on
Gordon Sullivan was the guitarist here, not Bluey who only played on one track. I'm a big fan of the cogs bit Gordon Sullivan deserves the respect here
@@omarks thanks for the info, a great era of music and before we were all so attached to our phones
If this was by Joyce Sims or Julia and Company it would be acclaimed as a classic and would have many millions of hits.
How Freeez went from this to 'Pop Goes My Love' is one of the most baffling transitions in music ever...
Yes agreed, good point made
Dexys from There There My Dear to Come on Bloody Eileen takes some beating
Things had to move on.
Electronic music with synths were becoming the norm.
IOU wasn't great either, but it was their biggest hit (UK #2 in 1983)
"Love's Gonna Get You" was good but didn't reach the top 40.
Bluey left and made Incognito.
google Kanye West please.....😿
Such a chill song
Love that bass player
Getting into the groove flexing it
. yes bro ! 🤙
Cool 😎
This song saved me in the dark days of covid...
So love this, has been my ringtone since forever
Keep playing this ...cool funk disco 💃🏻 hit ... she adds to the style by bearly moving on the groove which make this a classic video & tune of the 80 tees🔊🔊 dj Dave ‘ Freeze’ don’t forget ....”I.O.U.”another 🙋🏻♂️ to remember ... The ‘Apartment Club ‘ is open.... 🇮🇪 ha!
Bass player has had a snort beforehand 😂
nice lady great singer great lady great record
Lovely old Aria SB1000 bass😍
This is Great!!!

So fresh!
Bass player lovin' it like no-one else there. The rest of them too cool for school
marching powder
She is s cool...
One of the very best ; top draw
Thanks for posting.
Saw this on TV programme other day. She was telling us about her funny experience of this appearance on Top of the Pops
TOP TRACK. W4 Funks.
In the groove,ɓrilliant
Bass player Peter Maas enjoying himself in contrast to the cool and laid back Ingrid Mansfield Allen.
Just a slight typo : Ingrid Mansfield Allman
@@SpacedOdyssey Look up the episode of top of the pops they talked about how they had to lip-sync and hated it.
Brit Funk classic!
Her incredible energy is the only thing 💛
This is my absolute thing. This brilliant song is considered as a milestones that definitively stood UK as the post disco funk jazz leader far ahead US although that UK contribution during the disco climax was minor. Check that insane bass
Indeed! Absolute classic 🔥
Its Acid jazz...
@@manchesterutdfan66 It's jazz funk. Acid jazz was late 80s/early 90s.
@@christopherpugmire2969 Yeah I know but Freeez were way ahead,This is Acid Jazz before it was even invented..
@@christopherpugmire2969
No.
It's BRIT-FUNK!
guy from freeeze is banging it big time
Bass player...when marching powder should be taken in small doses 🤣
she is so cool though...All Nations Hackney
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was the only one with a fishtail on starting senior school 🏫
Choooon...
Thank you for posting that rare video 👏
The bassist Peter Maas is so energetic and so talented on stage !
Anyone knows what is he doing now ? Still in music ?
Bassists usually are lol 👍🏼
Great that they managed to get the bass player from "The Damned", ^oo^
Great tune but it is a forgotten top tenner cool singer and band could never understand why two of them took off and left the rest to have a hit I.O.U a year or so after i think if they stuck together with the right producer they would have been bigger.
swing machine
The singer proper dropped a crush on me when I saw this
Bill W
61 today U.K. time
hi I'm the 11 like lol I'm never the first but im not the last this time
so funny to see this over ambitious bass player (Peter Maas) jumping around
yo who's the guitarist ?
Why's his keyboard so low?
Malfunctioning pitch shifter lost between the fabric of time and consciousness...
Made by Fisher Price.
Too bad she seems to be not happy.
That bassist tho !!! Ya.
she didnt want to be there,,hated the limelight
She was pissed up at the time as the BBC bar was selling pints for 10p a go.
Sovile had tried in on. She just battered him, straightened her bow tie and hit the stage...JARRED!!!
when white people struggled to dance....i could tho 😀
She doesn't seem awkward in the least!!
