  • Some unexpected issues getting the rear axle apart. Looks like most of the components are reusable, but I still cannot get the yoke and pinion off. Guess that is best left to the professionals. Thanks for following along. Sorry that this isn't the most productive episode, but sometimes that's just how projects go.

As soon as i saw the rear diff cover i thought that was a BOP 10 bolt with no c-clips.

I had to do some research to get the proper center section and bearings. The entire drivetrain on this car was from donor cars at some point, so it made it interesting finding the correct parts.

Thats a BOP 10 bolt, no C-clips, its actually kind of a desireable rear end...for an 8.2. I know this is an older video, but you could remove the u-joint flange with a hammer and a brass punch, alternating strikes from side to side.

Yeah, that flange was a bear to get off. I honesty hope I never have to take it apart again. Has been holding up good so far.

do you know what the bearings and spacers were?

Sorry, but I don't have any part numbers for the bearings for this axle. I had my local transmission shop do these since they had to be pressed on, so I didn't actually order them myself.
