I like this way of joining granny squares. I can't wait to try it!. Could you tell me what the granny square pattern is and where I can find it? It is a beautiful pattern.
OH!! That is so wonderful. Thanks so much for making this comment. I LOVE this join method and think it works for most squares.. Hope you enjoy your quilt for many years to come. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a safe 2022!
Thank you, very well explained. I've just completed the same squares and I've been looking for some joining inspiration. I started with a whip stitch, but it is sooooo time consuming. This looks much quicker and still gives me the desired look of a flat stitch.
Oh thanks so much for commenting!! You made the same squares?? NICE!! They are such a wonderful square, so easy, but so effective!! I'm glad this tut was helpful for you. I love this join and I use it a lot (hexagons and squares) because it is easy and a great frame, without taking over from the actual design of the blanket!! BIG HUGS Lisa. xxx
That method is really lovely I’m nearly finished my squares and I will use your method to join them Thankyou very much for taking the time to show this your a good teacher 🧵
Such a lovely thing for you to say Janet!! Thankyou!! It is an incredibly easy and effective join.. I do think it would be great with a "same colour" as well, for times when you don't want a join to "stand out" but don't want to use whip stitch. Happy crochet xx
I really love this. I’ve got a whole bunch of granny squares I’m wanting to put together but I don’t like the bumpy look. I found another video of the mattress stitch that I really love as well so it’s going to be a tough choice. But the more I look at this (your ) stitch I’m thing this just be my favorite. I have arthritis in my fingers so I’m hoping it won’t be to difficult for me. Wish me luck. I really love this look.
@@pjm8433 OH!! That is so kind of you to say! I think we all look at the work of others and think it is better than ours. It's very interesting how we are our own worst critics. Wishing you a safe and prosperous New Year! xx

Oh Tanya! Thankyou SO much for this lovely comment. To be honest, I've been feeling a bit down recently and this comment has helped a lot. You're awesome! Happy crochet xx
I’m a new subscriber! The square caught my eye in my recommended videos. So pretty! I see that you have a tutorial for that, as well. 😃 That may be my next square! Currently, I’m working on animal squares. I’m still not sure which join I’ll use. I’ve used this one before, and I like it. I just need to see what will work best for my current blanket. Thanks for taking the time to record!
Oh thanks so much for commenting Joy!! It is a lovely and very quick and easy square, but so effective. I gave this blanket to my Mum! Happy crochet to you!! HUGS xx
Awesome tutorial! One question. When you have many different squares and not all are the same number on each edge, do you fudge the slip stitch through 2 stitches or skip a stitch?
Thanks so much!! If the squares are the same size, but with a different stitch count, I'd probably skip a stitch and see what that looks like. I would think that, as long as the squares are the same size, you should have no problem!
Hi S Sam!! Thanks for asking. Yes!! I have just been making a video for the slip stitch join on the popcorn squares. I just need to edit the video and upload it. It's a normal slip stitch join, but I do go across the intersection of the four squares. HUGS to you xx
What about when you have to join the other way how to you do the corners ? Do you just go thru the corners again ? Doesn't that leave a very raised bumpiness to each join in the blanket ?
Hi Dawn. I just join the second lot of corners to the first row of slip stitch, (not to the other corners) but either way works. The join does sit slightly proud of the squares themselves and is not completely flat against them. Thanks so much for this comment!
Hi Dawn. Mine is not TOTALLY flat, but the slip stiches do sit on top of the work and are basically flat.. it does create a small ridge around the square.. is that the same as yours? As long as you are not doing a single crochet in place of the slip stitch, yours will be as flat as mine. It will be a tiny bit raised simply because of grabbing that one loop. Happy Crochet lovely!
Hi Denise. My apologies.. I was only just now notified of this comment. At the end of a row or a column, I normally just fasten off. Glad you found the video useful!! HUGS xx
I love making squares but hate putting them together. This method has inspired me to get busy...Thank you!
So pleased this has helped. It's the most beautiful 'easy' method. I use it a lot. Happy Crochet!

Hi. I am new here. May I ask what type of thread should I use if I want to crochet a simple tote bag Tq
Hi Bee!! Any really. The thinner the yarn the more rows you'll need to do to make a reasonable size bag. I'd use a worsted weight yarn at least.
What’s the name of the granny square? Where can I find it? Would like to make it. Thank you!
