Many years ago my family company went into liquidation & I suffered depression. A casualty was music which I could no longer listen to because it irritated me. I walked the fields for some weeks trying to recover and then one evening at the house I turned on my recording of a Vivaldi concerto and to my delight, indeed my joy, my mind rose to the music. I had escaped from the depression and life was good again. Long live Vivaldi!
Someone once suggested to me the reason that so much of Vivaldi's music is so uplifting. In case you didn't know, Vivaldi was a Catholic priest who worked as music director for an orphanage, taught the orphans to play and organized the orphans into orchestras (and when they grew up, a lot of them kept playing together as traveling orchestras to make a living). Most of his music was composed for the orphans to play. So someone suggested that the reason his music is so cheering is because it was intended to help cheer up the orphans.
This is my wife's favorite piece by Vivaldi. It's one of my favorites as well. Vivaldi is my favorite composer without a doubt. I love his Oboe Concerto in D Minor RV454. Arguably my favorite. Close to Gloria (Specifically 'Cum Sancto Spiritu')
I had to perform this with my high school orchestra a few months ago and it was a pain but there wasn't a lot of parts for the contrabass. The parts i did have to learn were very difficult but after a while i learned them and could do them in my sleep.
@MrRafaelamadeumilan From what i know Vivaldi was headmaster in a music school. He wrote only a few masterpieces like all the rock bands. He wrote many pieces only to write them without a significant theme like this.theme: d fis a d,.Have you played this concerto? Believe me you wont like it.
Amazing, I'm working on this Vivald's Concert to be part of my Final concert's program! wonderful, preveausly I played at Minas Gerais BRAZIL within a flute orquestra.
MrRafaelamadeumilani From what I know Vivaldi was a Headmaster in a music school. He wrote pieces for his students.Few was written and were masterpieces. This concerto hasnt a significant theme:d fis a d,isnt it?all notes of a chord . His concerto in G major is much better. And believe me if you had to play this concerto, you wont like it.
Because this is a favorite of mine, I wrote it into my first published novel. When the protagonist is invited to the female interest's house for a 'quiet evening', she puts this on as they are getting better acquainted. I'm happy to say that it does its job. (But then, that was my intention.) Ben Garrick
For those whining about how hard this is to play...Vivaldi did not write anything that was 'easy' for anyone in the orchestra. His pieces are complex for any student. They were written to challenge his students and tend to be highly technical. As a Violinist, I hate trying to learn his works. I LOVE to listen to them. As for his Concerto in G Major...Which one? There are several Concertos in G Major. Just saying 'His concerto in G Major' doesn't say a lot. Could you specify please?
dudes this concerto is the worst thing in the world. The half of his notes is A and D.It has no melody and it is terrible to play. I hate it like i love his 5th sonat

Used to listen to this in my teens (can't remember the artists). Brings back lovely memories, aside from being a genius piece of music.
Love this piece ! Thanks for sharing!

It is a gift from sky!
1st movement: 00:00
2nd movement: 3:43
3rd movement: 6:45
Os 3 movimentos são lindos, mas o segundo movimento é coisa de outro planeta. Meu favorito.
I played this for my final exams, I love it!
I'm learning this piece right now and it sounds really fun to play and listen to, but man is it hard to learn! :P

@Nancy311289 yeah...you're absolutely right...I am Czech :-)....where are you from?
who is performing this in your video?
Vivaldi is for me the numero uno! I like him a hair more than mozart and much more than all the rest of them.
That second movement is heavenly!
@TheGianniar YOU MUST SEE BEAUTY ON SIMPLICITY
Happy woodwind man
@kuk4kuk ..well, there is always much to do :) By the way, according to your nickname, I assume you to be a Slovak or Czech, am I right? :)
May I ask what the flutist's name is?
@kuk4kuk Tak myslím, že teraz si budeme rozumieť aj bez angličtiny :)

I played this over 51 years ago, as a junior in high school. It is still there in muscle memory, though sadly not within my abilities today.
I like flute versions much better than recorder ones. Recorder is weak compared to metal flute.
el precio que es como se haremos

Check out the g minor flute concerto, really lovely after you get past the beginning lento (?) section. Much more lyrical than the Dmaj..
This isn't Rampal is it?
A level Music anyone?
for my is nice but I think the flutist use too much vibrato, it s not in the style
Oh God why vibrato in Vivaldi's piece? =/
Bro thinks he’s Abdulrafay
