      EXACTLY. THE LARGO MOVEMENT. SUBLIME IS THE WORD. AMONG THE ALL-TIME BEST PIECES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC ---THAT MOVEMENT. Galway plays it slightly too slow IMO. Vivaldi wouldve wanted it SLIGHTLY faster

    Il Gardellino est un ensemble belge de musique baroque créé en 1988 sous l'impusion du hautboïste Marcel Ponseele et du flûtiste Jan De Winne.
    Il Gardellino (Damme - 2012)
    Description
    Modifier
    L'ensemble tire son nom du concerto (op. 10 n° 3, en ré majeur, RV 428) pour flûte, hautbois, violon, basson et basse continue d'Antonio Vivaldi : Il Gardellino (de l'italien cardellino qui signifie chardonneret).
    Cet ensemble travaille à l'occasion avec d'autres formations telles que la Cappella Amsterdam et le Gesualdo Consort.
    Parmi les musiciens réguliers figurent les violonistes Ryo Terakado (de), François Fernandez ou Sophie Gent (de), Mayumi Hirasaki, Joanna Huszcza, le claveciniste israélien Shalev Ad-El, le gambiste Vittorio Ghielmi (en) et les violoncellistes Michel Boulanger ou Hervé Douchy.
    L'ensemble a fait de nombreux enregistrements pour les labels Accent, Klara, Eufoda, Signum ou Passacaille. Des voyages de concert l'ont amené dans la majorité des pays européens, en Amérique latine, aux États Unis, en Russie ou au Japon.

      Nope. His dynamics are waay off, and you don't put ANY vibrato into baroque music....

    • @marcolucca6241
      @marcolucca6241 3 года назад

      @@alhdgysz dynamics in general are incredibly a new thing for modern orchestra. So here you are right. The discussion on dynamics could last hours because there are someone that say p or f is just an idea the musician has in his mind and pass to the audiance, other say p is p, and f is f, stop with bullshits just beacause you can't do it. And then there are exagerations....bad taste really, and a lot of period instrumentist once (1980-till now) used to simply force everything in the execution of frasing. More can be said about baroque/rococò dynamics range: period instruments could not play so pp like the modern ones. Then you mention vibrato....I saw guys stop talking to each other for a matter of vibrato!!! Ahahah and I'm not jocking. Galways is old school, my friend, but with intelligence: if you notice here he isn't a fucking goat. He uses it gently or sometimes not at all (and for Galway is a real happening!!). I end saying that we don't know exactly if 300 years ago every musicians existing on earth didn't use it at all or somethimes or when the Devil knows!

    • @alhdgysz
      @alhdgysz 3 года назад +1

      @@marcolucca6241 IF you want to play in style you cannot use ANY vibrato. This comes from the fact that in period instrument you really cannot do it (finger vibrato is your only option).
      And yes, Galway really did an effort here, but that is not enough... Here are some samples of this (vibrato and bad tone quality)
      0:30
      1:17
      1:41
      2:28
      3:18
      3:49
      4:00 (the whole 2nd movement is a tasteless mass of vibrato)
      7:13
      Get tired of it....

    • @marcolucca6241
      @marcolucca6241 3 года назад +2

      @@alhdgysz "on period instruments you can't do vibrato" you say....FALSE! think of violin or flute, maybe oboe is more difficult to do vibrato. Human voice, guitar, lute...almost 90% of baroque era instruments can do vibrato, but is evidently a different vibrato not a romantic one of couse. Classic example: at the end of a long introduction note you can do it, but obviously with the taste of the era, let's say, 70% port de voix andthen you start vibrato

    • @alhdgysz
      @alhdgysz 3 года назад +2

      @@marcolucca6241 on a wooden baroque flute it is tremendously hard to do any nice vibrato. Therefore it was not in fashion. However later, on the metal flute vibrato got easier, and we would like to add to the baroque music. However this is a really bad idea from stylistic standpoint.
      So baroque (flute) music ment to be without any vibrato.
