I remember that as a young child, our family used to have vinyl-LPs with well-known Andersen and Grimm fairytales featuring the Brandenburg Concertos as introductory and background music ... Since then, I firmly associate this music (especially the 4th Brandenburg Concerto) with fairytales ... Reflecting, I could not imagine a music better suited to that purpose than Bach´s immortal Brandenburg Concertos, just as immortal as those classic fairytales ...

After several recordings of the 4th concerto, I like this most of all. The Brandenburg concertos are the endless enjoyment of the music written by the genius.
Extraordinary soloists, extraordinary audio, extraordinary chamber orchestra conducted by Claudio Abado, impeccable performance, thanks to DW for giving us these awesome concerts.
The 3rd movement of this Brandenburg moves me into a kind of dream state- the way the fugue just sort of floats weightlessly, but with confidence and grace...Bach was a force of nature.
While reading a book about Bach, the story of the Brandenburg Concerto came up and I wanted to listen to it for the first time in a long time. I heard you well. 🇰🇷
Tempo is so important in this music. It must be energized, but we also want to hear the details. Agreed: the Soloblockflöten are absolutely lovely! And perfectly balanced with the solo violin....
DW Classical brings so much joy to listeners around the world w/ these archived performances and live concerts, such as the Beethoven Symphony #6 + Romances for Violin streamed today from the 2021 Bonn Beethoven Fest. Thanks so much!
The look of "wow, man" that Brunello gives Carmignola around 13:05 after all the fast bowing! Love the terrific camera work getting the players' faces up close in these concert videos.
Watching this makes me remember when i was 10 years old listening to this version. At the time i don't understand music i just listen to them. Now I know how beautiful they are.
Wonderful, the soloist absolutely BRILLANT!, the chamber orchestra can play without any conductor as was usual in the Bach's epoch, it is one of the best interpretation I've ever heard, together with 3th and 5th concerts are the best of Brandenburg concerts.Incredible sound and tempo, BRAVO!.
There are 3 soloists in this concerto, and Bach would likely have conducted this work from the viola, the harpsichord, or the principal violin (which you erroneously call "the soloist").
El conjunto de seis conciertos branderburgueses que Bach compuso fue uno de los legados de armonía que dejó para la posteridad. Mendelssohn rescató a Bach que había caído casi en el olvido 75 años después de su muerte y fue casi milagroso
It seems unfair how easy the cello part is! Yes, it has an important function, but so few notes. And yet they get to share the stage with all the instrumentalists performing feats of magnificent presentation of tight contrapuntal activity. Glorious music!!!
Absolutely fabulous!! .One of the famous of Branderburg Concertos with plusiers instruments that Bach dedicated to Mangrave of Branderburg. It seems that Mangrave did not respond with enthusiasm following the dedication of Bach.Claudio Abbado was a lovely and a magnificient conductor I loved too much
I like all kinds of music, including much classical. but baroque the most, and Bach really in a class of his own. and the Brandenburg concertos seem to me the most divine music ever written. the sounds on this recording so crystal pure, even on my simple phone and headphones. just wonderful.
Agradecido.🇧🇷
DW has some incredible programs. We are able to get a weak signal out of Fresno some 75 miles away. Bach's wonderful compositions are very cathartic with the anniversary of my wife's death yesterday. This helps with healing the heart and mind longing for the time soon of the resurrection of John 5:28, 29.
Just beautiful! The sound is a good as a studio recording. And the camera work and editing is perfect. The shots are always on the right performer at the right time.
That's all you see and hear? The useless man sitting down? No conductor is needed here. All credit goes to the chamber players here. Curb the conductor worshipping, please.
A study suggests that Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 4" can quickly shift you from "fight or flight" to "rest and digest" in just 8 minutes. This is much quicker than exercise or massage, which can take 20-30 minutes. We are hardwired for music.✨💖✨
I see lots of praise for Giuliano Carmignola, who deserves it. But does no one realize that Michala Petri, the first recorder player, is the world's foremost recorder virtuosa? As usual, she plays magnificently here.
Bach did what history couldn't, made Brandenburg immortal
The first movement of of Brandenburg 4 is just so heavenly, absolutely the work of a genius.
Great performance here.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written … sheer genius 🤵♂️
The third movement in particular is a testament to the order and beauty of all of God's creation and the creativity of His own creation, J.S. Bach.
Just like all the other Brandenburgs!!

The clarity of the recorded sound is greater than in almost any version I've heard so far. And I've heard a lot! Kudos to the engineers....

The Brandenburg Concertos are some of my favorite pieces of all time. The fifth one is my favorite.
Allegro, as in my heart when I first heard his intro. Long live Sam
Everyday I miss him more.
Pardon my ignorance; who is Sam?

excellent sound of the recorders! Well recorded!
You know you have amazing musicians where you barely have to conduct them as seen here with Maestro Abbado. ✨💖✨
Bach's concertos are always elating the mood and spirits.

The world of classical music is vast and diverse. I can see diversity in rhythms, melodies, and compositions from different periods and composers.
Well the classical era did span three centuries!
Damn. Each time I hear one of the Brandenburgs I think it is the best of the 6!
I hear you! But, 2 will always be #1 with me!
They're all like children. Can't pick a favorite. Though I especially like the 5th.

I’m living for this. The timbers of the instruments are so lush.
Beethoven called Bach "The God of Harmony"!
Who can argue?
From adagio to the third movement? ALWAYS lifts my spirit!

I REALLY wish people would talk about 3:07 more. Insanely addicting… look how quick the fingering is. Blows my mind.
Everything fits together, including the emotions, with mathematical precision. In all of Bach.
