    I have made these for YEARS and everyone requests them all the time. Made them for Military when we send out Christmas Stocki gs to them during Desert Storm and still do hand them out to the VFW halls for all veterans, fishing clubs, garden clubs, construction tion crews you name it. I also use sport themed fabric as well. Have not met anyone who didn't like these. So glad they are making a comeback and another generation is interested. well done Shabby Fabrics, WELL DONE !!!

I did receive a nice gift box with sunglasses and other essential items so I want to publicly thank you and all of the other anonymous donors for your support! It was very much appreciated and thank you for your continued support. ❣️ 😎

    I have been using these for years! Wal-mart used to sell them in sporting goods for $1. I have seen them increase in cost to almost $3. My dogs love them. Now it is easy to make them in better fabrics! Wash your cottons first so they do not bleed their colors onto you4 clothes. These are great! Definitely put them in the fridge after they have soaked in water.

    These are great. I do have some questions: 1) Can these be washed? If so, suggested setting. And, can you dry them in a dryer? 2) Does Shabby Fabrics have kits? Hi Michele - That is definitely a great question! It looks like the main ingredient in the Miracle Gro Water Storing Crystals is polyacrylamide. Obviously, if you have an allergy towards it, we would not recommend using it. We have not experienced any ill effects, but please do your own research regarding your safety. -Michelle

    • @peppermynte5615

      Found this: "polyacrylamide has been linked to cancers of the thyroid, testis, mammary gland, uterus, pituitary gland and oral cavity in animal studies. Human studies have found associations between acrylamide exposure and pancreatic cancer among men exposed in the workplace."
      I personally will not be using this product as I already have hypothyroidism and don't need any more problems in my life. I will look for something different to make these with. Good tutorial, though.

    How do you make them cool once you've made them? Do you just soak them in cold water? Or put them in the fridge?

    • @georgiaatthelake8142
      @georgiaatthelake8142 2 года назад +2

      Soak first, till the beads expand with water, then wring out just a tiny bit, put in a plastic bag & store in the fridge for upcoming event or wear immediately. When they completely dry, start over or put into storage. If I recall correctly, the cooling lasts for a few hours.

    • @tlsnana9539
      @tlsnana9539 2 года назад +3

      The evaporation process is what is cooling you. Putting in fridge just makes it colder.
      When I was a child, air conditioners weren’t available. When it got too hot, Dad would close most of the windows, except the bedrooms, put a window fan on exhaust, in a separate window, then hose the bedroom windows. The evaporation on the screens caused a brief cooler breeze. Thinking back, it was ingenious.

    • @georgiaatthelake8142

      @@tlsnana9539 Memories! My Dad would hose down the swamp cooler to wet the pads with cool water. In '64, we drove through Redding, CA, in a heat wave in our new T-Bird with no air conditioning - we were miserable, will never forget that trip.
