Multiply, since I suck at drawing I often just color pages from Manga (pretty poorly tho), and for that multiply is just perfect since it kinda makes the white areas see through and with that I won’t have to trace all the lines to draw under the lines
Thank you so very much for this tutorial. I have never mastered all of the different layer options, until I watched your tutorial. Everyone else skipped over important steps and or ran through it so quickly that I simply gave up. My digital artwork had improved to a whole new level, and has boosted my confidence. Thank you!!
the soft light for lineart thing changed me. I've been struggling with coloured lineart for all my life, I usually just hand paint it because I can never get it to look right T_T If you take your lineart layer and fill it in, then use that as you're base/clipping layer for colouring it works great!
Awesome thank you! really trying to get into my digital art and blending modes have always confused me a bit. This video was great, nice and easy explanations with quick demonstrations, exactly what I needed!
Hi Ghost, would you please consider going slightly slower. It’s hard for me to follow when you open a new layer, where you place it, and when you select a new color with each new blending mode. I love your videos. Thank you!
Hi Marilyn! I totally understand that, I have started a Patreon community especially for this reason - where I can offer slower, extended tutorials of my latest videos 👍👍👍
You can also change the speed of the video so that it plays more slowly. On my iPad, the controls become visible as an overlay on top of the video when it is paused. Select the three little vertical dots in the upper right corner to open a control menu. There’s one for playback speed that lets you slow it down if you’re having trouble keeping up, or speed it up if you get a presenter who speaks too slowly or rambles a lot . It was a game changer for me!
Thank you GP! May you please consider doing a similar tutorial on Blending Modes going a little slower? Showing more samples of each. Take your time. Thanks again!
This was a great start for me to learn more about blending modes and understanding them. You showed some great tips in how to use them, so I will experiment some more. Thanks so much, Procreate is so rich with tools and you really helped explain them.
Wow! I had no idea these things existed. I accidentally made one of my layers a multiply layer today and noticed some weird stuff going on with the color so I decided to look it up. I can’t believe how powerful Procreate is.
nice videos, i watched a few and they explained everything i needed to know!!! as a illustrator guy working with vectors only for ten years, photoshop and procreate somehow is hard for me but u explained it very well! i watched other videos liek this for photshop but i never finished them because they were so long haha
Your video is so detailed and helpful, I am making a list of all the features for reference as there are a multitude of blending possibilities. Thanks for everything !
Do you have books on topics of Procreate like showing tutorials on cool stuff to make ect? I got a Procreate Guide book but I don't find too many out there. I have slow processing speed so I like to read the books ontop of watch tutorials.
Fabulous, thank you! You’ve turned me into a follower of yours. Waiting impatiently for my new iPad Pro so I can emulate your tutorials. So much to learn and remember! I’m hoping practice will do it. Thanks again!
Dude keep going I love listening to tutorials while doing other shit but gt lost n it just becomes noise and confusing....explained easy nor dragged....thanks
Thank you! I have been meaning to look for more informaiton on some of those blending modes, but had not gotten around to it yet. Now I have all the information I need
curious why you mentioned that multiply doesn’t add saturation to the shadows? of course it didn’t you used black lol you’ve gotta use an actual colour this method just added extra steps
I think there is a lot to be learned from this video, but the presentation was too fast to understand what you were doing in you demonstration of each blending mode.
What is your favourite blending mode!? The one you always keep going back to - let me know here in the comments! ✨👇
My classic is definitely multiply and add since i like to do glowy effects a lot.
Def colour dodge

You’re welcome!!
I’ve been painting 9 months without any blending modes lol maybe this will help me a bit
Painting with black and white on a 50% grey overlay layer, does it all for lighting and darkening. :)

I recommend clicking the gear icon on the video and change the playback speed to 0.5x its really helpful
This is the first video I have seen on Blending Modes. I need to practice now then come back and watch the video again
Oh thanks for this upload. I’ve been using multiply lately.
Multiply is super handy!
Thank you for this comprehensive, and well done, video! I also appreciate that you put time-codes for quick reference. This is a great resource!
No worries! Hopefully this gives some good ideas for everyone in future illustrations 👍
This video is insanely helpful 🌻 thanks so much! It’ll take a while to memorise all the functions, but you made it easier!

this is the best tutorial EVER
Great video!! Been looking for something like this for a long time!!!! Thanks
How do you get the layer menu? When I click on it, it doesn't show the extra options.

@ghostpaper of all the blending modes you demonstrated which ones do you love using the most and which ones would you recommend to new users?

I love your video and I just want to know where can I purchase that pencil that you're using?!
Hi there! This is just a decal from D-brand, which turns your Apple Pencil into a pencil ✏️ 👍
Thank you so much. I learned valuable info

Thanks for the tutorial. However it was a bit too speeded up for me and I couldnt catch up...ended up learning nothing at all !
I still don’t understand. The blending modes still don’t work for me 😅
I think there is a lot to be learned from this video, but the presentation was too fast to understand what you were doing in you demonstration of each blending mode.
Post Ghaper
This is so hard to follow

Didn't explain properly.no offence.
