I'm working in a technical department and one of my jobs is doing scan to folder to the costumers. I had this problem twice one with a CANON copier and the second one with a RICOH copier. So now it's been clear that most of the people having this problem not only me.
Did updating the firmware fix your Ricoh? We have a customer with a MP C307 that won't scan to Windows 11. We even tried using the Ricoh network scanner config tool with no success. Windows 10 is fine. We have firmware updates scheduled but the machine has not updated yet. Hopefully tonight.
No we've not, as the copier is looked after by a printer leasing company, so we're waiting on them to do this. In the mean time, sadly, we've had to stick to Windows 10 for that particular client.
@@LucidComputerSolutions updating firmware corrected this for us. If you login to the service mode you might be able to download the latest package firmware from the panel depending on the age/model.
I know you're talking about Ricoh mostly, but here's what I had today with a Xerox WorkCentre 6655 and Win11 Pro, 22H2: Created a local User (typical name = scanner) as Administrator, new folder created, shared and "scanner has full rights on the share and full security permissions. Mapping the share with the scanner user is working from another PC = share and rights are fine. On the Xerox = login error. The Xerox is supporting SMB v 1 + 2 + 3 with the newer firmware, but enabled SMB v1 on Win 11 anyway = same error, cannot login. Identical setup with the share and same local user on Win10 = working. I enabled pretty much all the stuff suggested in the comments like "Nearby Sharing", SMB v1, etc., but all of it didn't make a difference. After all the several options have been enabled and "Scanner" still couldn't login, I used another local test account I had created months ago. But I couldn't remember the password, did a PW reset and........ this user was working with the Xerox. Without changing anything, the first user "Scanner" was all of the sudden working as well! I started to disabled all the previously enabled option one-by-one, incl the SMB v1 feature, rebooted Win11 and both users are still working on the Xerox (different scan templates). There's for sure something dodgy with Win11 and SMB shares 🤨
Hmmmmm that's odd isn't it and doesn't make sense. I agree with you that there's something different about how W11 is handling access to shares for scans.
Hi Gavin, Just ran into this for the first time and have been doing some research on it. Question was the problem machine a upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11 or was it a fresh install. All of my fresh installs have worked. I am planning on trying to do a Win 10 to 11 upgrade see if it is broken and if so try using an install disk to do a repair or recovery as a fix.
@@LucidComputerSolutions It is not working with FTP with Filezilla for me. I tried enabling SMB V2 via telnet on the copier and even tried port 445 and it still cannot see the PC. Yes turned off firewall. Yes rebooted copier after each change.
I'm having the same issue. The 301 did have to have an update to allow it to do SMB 2 and 3. I've tested tonight SMB 1, 2 and 3. It appears something in Windows 11 has broken SMB from this machine. I hadn't tried to scan since I update to 11. You can check if you have the update in the configuration menu under network and SMB. You would have an option to make SMB 2 and 3 active if it is up to date. I doubt it will get another update since it is an older model. What I did since i have things to scan is load Filezilla FTP server and use FTP to drop the files in the folder. Haven't had to run an FTP server for anything in ages. This isn't the only thing I've had trouble with in Windows 11. I've considered downgrading myself, but keep trying to find workarounds for now.
What fixed it for me was instead of using the hostname in the folder path. I used the computers IP address. Updating the firmware did nothing for me. This was an older machine C3003.
@@LucidComputerSolutions weird because I tried everything else. I had the folder set up for sharing with Everyone and a user Scanner we set up on the workstation and the only two setting I changed before it started working were what I described above and turning on the new "Nearby Sharing" feature on windows 11. Maybe the combo?

Today I got a call that the scan function stopped working on one of the Windows 11 PC's. I upgraded the firmware again and was able to scan to folder right away. I hope this can be resolved permanently soon!
Copier: MP2501. New firmware 02.2022 NIB and System Copy and SMB scan doesn't work. Even SMB v1 is running on that pc. THE ONLY SOLUTION THAT WORKS IS TO USE IP ADDRESS IN FOLDER PATH INSTEAD OF COMPUTER NAME.
Turning on SMB + restart worked for me. Did not make any firewall changes.

Yes, agreed, lots of people having issues scanning to folder on a Windows 11 computer.
I've heard SMB1 needs re enabled

From memory (so I could be wrong), I think we had the same problem with both an upgraded computer, and ones that had a fresh install of W11 on them.
Temporary solution is using Scanning via FTP, though u might need to configure FTP on that PC.
That would work, but given the security issues around FTP, that's not something we'd put in place.

Hi Gavin, we've not yet migrated any customers to Win11 but other similar scanning issues have sometimes been caused by SMB version incompatibilities.
Yes, I know what you mean - where you have to turn on SMB v1 in some instances... we've tried that in this scenario, but did not help sadly.

Problem with that is, we don't want laptops on a static IP.
@@LucidComputerSolutions Ok, but it is some sort of solution for now, you can always use ip address reservation on your dhcp server (router etc)
even on the Samsung xpress 3280 the windows 11 scanner does not work
This was fixed by turning on 'SMB1.0 Server' under Windows Features. You install the feature. Reboot the computer and it works.
We already tried that without success in our scenario.
Same here no luck

Give the sharing folder "quest" permission along with "everyone" permission.

Update firmware and solve
