Hi Gavin . Sorry to take you off subject . I recently saw your video , made a couple of years ago about TP link router mr600 . May I please ask a question about this . I recently bought a home in the Canaries , and holiday for about 3 wks four or five times a year , but our internet is basic , around 5 mbs . Would you recommend this router to be used there , with a Spanish only data SIM . I would only use this for my smart tv using a uk firestick for British tv. (With the firestick adapter) A monthly unlimited Spanish only SIM is available activated when I go across. Cheaper than a monthly contract for 24 months . Is this ideal to use ?

Amazing tip! I've had this issue for years and I've just bought the ethernet adapter and LAN cable and boom! The difference is like day and night! Streams ultra HD live on BBC iplayer with absolutely no stalling. Very grateful for the advice, and just in time for the Olympics :)

Just a bit of info for you regarding this , Mine has the A9 processor, 120 GB SSD , GPT partition, UEFI , (not legacy) and TPM 2.0 ready , 8GB DDR4 ram , ran win 10 ,,, so I did the health check , MS AI rejected the A9 and I rejected their AI and did a Clean w 11 installation last night and regardless of the usual bloat ware which I manually didn't install its running really well , like i said it was a £50 second hand machine, I'd absolutely say its £100 second hand now if you upgrade! AMD s A6 and A9 handle w11 spot on ... Would recommend you update / check Drivers prior

3 years on, it's still on sale on the mainland, €369. Trying to crack the code for monitors and TVs. Never had one the last 20 years, might be getting 3 of them to tech up my house. Big TV, bigger monitor and perhaps this one for a walking desk setup I want to try. Until then, it MIGHT work with my 5 years old 1080P laptop...not sure if at all or to what extent.

How did the Linux install go? Wifi, audio etc any good?

I wanted to upgrade the cooler. That seems impossible. At 7:10 you can see the RH side of the case does not come off. It seems like there is no fan backplate on the MB. It's on the inside of the case. I had all the motherboard screws out, the fan was off. The MB was moving a bit, but not the thread holes. I was reluctant to use any more force, just in case there was a screw I missed. Has anyone fitted a better cooler? Or is this PC unviable to upgrade?

Personally I think its a fair price, Im getting this 4 my drunk uncle.

I have the same laptop but an i5 12th gen but it's new bought it about 2 months ago and my battery dies very fast last about 1hour 45 mins

A Smarty unlimited sim works ever so well as a internet provider. However don't bother buying this or any other router. I just use an old 4g mobile phone and use tethering & hotspot to connect to the internet; this way I conect to not one not two not even three, but FOUR devices all at one time. A desktop windows 11, a wireless printer, a 43 inch TV and a laptop! All for just £20 per month....! 😄

This drive is absolute garbage. Do not buy!

Virgin media replaced my super hub five due to kept disconnecting the new super hub 5 factory settings keeps reverting back to the old box said and password even tho this is a new box why would this keep happening when I’ve factory reset just reverts back to old settings

*UPDATED COMMENT* Hey Gavin, how have you got on with installing Linux? There doesn’t seem to be much on the internet for Geopad+Linux. Would be interested in what you've experienced so far... I just got an Geo Geopad 110 on eBay for £36.50 with delivery. 4GB RAM and 128 disc. Has windows 11 which I don't want. I discovered that to get to BIOS you press Enter+Delete when you switch it on. In BIOS, under Security, I disabled Secure Boot. In Chipset>South Bridge I changed OS selection to Linux. In Boot, I made sure my thumb drive was the first boot option. Having tried several distros, I've found the best one so far is *Fedora (40).* Got nowhere with Ubuntu or Linux Mint Cinnamon, couldn't get very far with Zorin Lite, Manjaro Gnome, or Pop OS--all of which work fine on my HP laptops. The only problem I've got so far with Fedora is that the touchscreen isn't working, but I have to explore what I can do with Wayland and maybe I'll be able to crack that.

A lot of unlimited data plans severely limit the speed which is important to know after certain data limits

3 to 4 reboots every week is not acceptable and the last thing you did i keep doing nothing works 16 years customer nothing but problems with hub 5 and 1 gig connection its rubbish from 4 till about 11 onwards every night 3 complaints to vm and still the same latency and jitter way too high its useless sadly for VM and O2 no more contracts for me 10 relatives having the same so all will be looking for another provider as for the exposed wiring mess outside is a real reflection of VM handy work.

Ciao, sai come resettare il BIOS o flasharlo da USB.. il bottone laterale non funziona, staccare le batterie anche per una giornata intera non serve a nulla e a schermo non visualizzo niente .. dovrei resettarlo così da ripristinare i settaggi di default, specialmente quelli video. Questo metodo di flasharlo tramite applicazione Windows deve averlo partorito un genio mancato.

Thanks Gavin. The Cat 6 explanation is useful. I assumed it had to do with a LAN connection. Wonder why more manufacturers make a song and dance about this 'dual band' capability. In any case I thought 'dual band' was something else, but you've explained it clearly.

My old HP250 G6 with i7 -7500u processor has served me well, but is falling apart (literally) and is now also pretty much kaput. The entry level G9 has an i5 -1235u processor, which oddly I'd of thought with lower numbers, would be less good. Confusing, but apparently the G9's processor is actually a good deal better than that in the G6. Best price now (April 24) for for a basic G9 seems really good at £400 inc. delivery and also the case looks to be tougher than the G6, so I'll go for that.

Hi , we live in a rural area, we get our internet via microwave with a receiver up on our roof. Only EE provide any 4g mobile signal and it is very weak, we have a garden room about 50 metres away from the house and higher up the garden, our WiFi won't reach, so I'm trying to find a solution to improve the weak 4g signal. Will a mobile router with an external aerial/receiver mounted as high as possible on the garden room roof with an unlimited data only simcard (£22 per month) help improve things, if so can you recommend a decent cat 6 router. Cheers
