The ”energy field” that you expressed concern over is nothing but an induction field. It’s pulse controlled magnetism and incredibly weak at that. But the strenght doesn’t matter anyway as far as your health is concerned. Even though magnetism is an electromagnetic field of energy it isn’t electromagnetic radiation meaning it can’t have an effect on you since it has no way of altering your chemistry nor to heat you up. It’s about as dangerous as your typical refrigerator magnet. Slide the magnet back and forth over a wire how ever and you can get a small light bulb to flash on and off. We’re not exactly dealing with ionizing radiation here. Invading alien metallic nano robots that happen to use your charge mat as a landing strip might be in for a bad surprise though. If you all of a sudden feel the smell of ozone accompanied by little screams of death coming from your charge mat you’ll know what’s going down. Sure surprised me the first time.
Many people in the comments are confused about why (most) people use wireless gaming mice at their desktop. It is to get rid of the cable from obstructing mouse movements and to eliminate any potential tug/weight/etc. that the cable can introduce (think of it like why people use mouse bungees, except better). For most people it has nothing to do with hiding cables. So, as long as the cable is not attached to the mouse itself, then it does not matter if there is a cable connected to the receiver/mousepad to myself and most other wireless gaming mice users.
Gerardo Ricciardi Not really, I much prefer wireless over a mouse bungee with cord and can tell the difference (I've tried both). Having a mouse bungee is irrelevant to buying this product in the first place anyway as the mousepad is for Wireless mice and solves the problem of not having to worry about plugging your mouse back in to charge along with charging while playing. Not really sure what your point is.
Sure I guess but that's kind of irrelevant to the point I was making about people being confused about the reason gamers use wireless mice and unjustly criticizing it for still having cables.
Brian Cheng I agree but it still has a cable attached to it, I don't consider it useless but kinda controversial. Ok wireless mice have the freedom of movement but again, with a well placed mouse bungee, with plenty of slack, I really can't figure out how the cable could catch on something, at least on my setup.
the mouse and keyboard is too much as still there is a cable but with the keyboard you do not move it as often as the mouse and it generally has a permanent place would rather have a wired keyboard which has something to connect the charging pad with
I have this same idea in mind a year ago after watching tech vids about wired vs wireless gaming. I think I commented it in one if this channel's videos if not in Techsource or Bitwit. It's nice that it has finally became a reality. Kudos Logitech.
I certainly like the concept. I am still using a G602 and its battery life is astounding. Months of gaming at a time. I keep a set of rechargable batteries handy, two in, two charging, and swap when needed. No downtime. So although it is a good use of wireless charging the pad isn't big enough to replace my extra large desk mat (keyboard and mouse) and the benefit over the G602 isn't there yet. But it is a step I the right direction I think.
I have the pretty much the exact setup here (G-Pro keyboard, G903, and more recently the Powerplay mousepad). I can say I did feel a little like I wasted money on the mousepad. I only needed to charge it once every 2-3 days, and since I'm using the G-Pro keyboard, all I really had to do was unplug that every couple of nights, and use it for the mouse for overnight charging. That being said, I don't regret my purchase at all. It eliminates the need to charge completely. It is something I had to think about every night (has it been too long since I charged it? Then I'd have to look in the Logitech software, yada yada). The receiver is closer, the mousepad itself feels nice (and looks nice with matching RGB to the KB and mouse logos). As far as wireless vs wired mice go, I used a wired one for the longest time. Then I moved over to the G903. I didn't notice until I forgot to charge it one day and needed to use it wired for an hour while it charges (before I had the PowerPlay). Damn, just the weight of the cord, not even getting stuck on anything, felt uncomfortable. It was then that my appreciation for wireless mice was realized. There's a sort of resistance you don't realize when you get used to wired mice. And while it does add a cord, it's a cord that doesn't move, making it easy to cable-manage it.
As an owner of the 903 and charging pad, this is a great product. Coming from a 5 year old Mionix Naos 5000, it’s like night and day and not having cable drag during FPS gaming is really nice
I use my G900 with receiver on back of pc, you will be surprised how good it works, no need in close wire, no need of fire at all, only you can hide under case a charging wire for wast connect and go when battery is low. Works superb, only downside for me is too high buttons position and overall mouse front

I'm just waiting for this to become the norm for all keyboards and mice. Wouldn't it be awesome if this worked for all electronic stuff... phone, headphone etc?

For less than 99 $ there are very decent wireless mice out there. I'm happily using the gigabyte aivia with 2 fast swappable battery packs each lasting for 2 days. One is constantly recharging in the dock. 0 issues so far, no noticeable input lag whatsoever
Ok. Super. But you can also have 149$ one, because you liked it better. I have logitech pro, because it's the only one esport tier wireless mouse that is also for left handed people. And I'm not meaning that it is universal as most mouses. You can physically map buttons in this mouse hovewer you like on both sides, which makes it the most left-handed-friendly mouse. So i don't care about other 99$ mouse, because this one have all what i need and want. So until there will be something better And cheaper, i will stick to my mouse.
maybe something people ignore about lithium ion batteries.. is that as much it is possible to recharge them and use them in the same moment.. you end up clogging the artheries of your batteries resistance much faster then normal. It is not recomended by most manufacturer to discharge and recharge the battery at the same time. While having a wireless mouse that can be turned off and pluged as a wired mouse, effectively charging the battery without discharging it at the same moment is the best way to maintain your battery for a long time. There is a good reason they make those recommandations.
Logitech doesn't let the mouse go to a charge above 90-95% but yeah I agree with the part about it charging while using it, that probably isn't a good thing.
well it just moves the cable. But it still is good idea. isn't the main benefit of a wireless mouse that your mouse movements won't be obstructed by a cable? That advantage still is there most people use a mousepad anyway so I don't it being pointless. what I wan't someday ist a desk that just charges everything I put on it. Headphone, keyboard, mouse, smartphone etc. but until then this should work. a few more size options would be nice though (even if they would get much more expensive the bigger they get)
My point exactly. Despite the cable on the mousepad the mouse movements aren't restricted because the mouse itself is wireless. Meant as a response to the people saying that they're not seeing any benefits.
Also you can tuck away the cable in a way you cannot do with a wired mice (because you need slack). Just drill a hole in your desk and put in a nice cable routing plug, and away goes all cables. Did this for my keyboard already. 5min job, and looks way better than runnig cables across the end of the desk.
So instead of cable to the mouse, you have a cable to the mousepad. Doesn't look that much cleaner. Actually more clunky with that charging station attached to the pad
The point of this is more for people who already have wireless gaming mice, it's much more convenient for it to charge on it's own without having to replace the battery or plug it in every few days. And people don't care so much about seeing cables as they do feeling the cable when dragging the mouse around.
For the energy field being a health concern, it really shouldn't be. It uses magnetic induction to power a tiny generator in that weight slot, with the magnetic fields being fairly weak. Charging speed in this case is really measured on how fast the polarities switch on the magnetic field, not on how powerful the field is.
I'm actually considering purchasing this right now, I've got the G903 and while it has excellent battery life, I find it a bit of a nuisance every 3 days having to disconnect the cable from the wireless receiver and then insert it into the mouse, it's just hassle I'd rather not have to think about, just wish it wasn't so expensive!!!
This is a really cool idea... but I current use two G700s and just rotate them for zero down time. Similarly you can do the same with two G403 or G900 and still cost less then the Powerplay setup
I have had three of these. One was a replacement by Logitech. The issue is that the Powerplay will generate EMF interference while in the charging state, as indicated by the White LED on the pad receiver. I have the G903 Mouse, G910 Keyboard, and the Powerplay. I also use a Logitech MX Master 3 and Performance MX for productivity most of the time. I noticed the mouse cursor while using any other wireless mouse like the MX Master 3 or Performance MX was jittering, and I could not control it while the Powerplay was in the charge state! As soon as the charge state ended or I unplugged the Powerplay, the cursor would return to normal. As soon as the Powerplay returned to the charging state, the cursor would become erratic again! I also noticed the G903 generated a jittery mouse cursor while the Powerplay was in a charged state. It was not as bad as when using the MXM3, and I could select items, but the cursor was jittering until the charge state ended. So Logitech sent me a replacement Powerplay, and it had the same issue! Because I use my productivity Logitech mice the most, I would unplug the Powerplay pad to prevent the problem from occurring. When I wanted to game and use the G903 mouse, I would plug the Powerplay back in. Fast forward a few months, and I started to play Elden Ring on PC using an Xbox controller. I noticed intermittent issues with menu control. When trying to select or scroll through a menu using the Xbox controller, I could not choose anything, and it would jump around! At first, I thought this was a new game patch issue, but it continued to occur, and then I noticed the game was jittering slightly only on the monitor I was playing Elden Ring. When this issue remained after several patches, I discovered the Powerplay was causing the problem when it was in a charge state! Like the mice, the issue would disappear once I disconnected the Powerplay USB cable or stopped charging. I connected the USB connection directly to my desktop and other USB ports, but the issue persists. All device Firmware and G-Hub software are up to date. I even purchased a third Powerplay pad from BestBuy, hoping Logitech may have changed something, but the issue continues even on the newest Powerplay. The Powerplay produces some EMF that impacts other wireless devices, speakers, and monitors. I am not sure how the Powerplay is affecting my monitor. Still, it is only occurring on the monitor I am playing Elden Ring on, leading me to conclude the interface is coming through the Xbox controller and maybe producing micro character movement, which looks like screen jittering on my monitor. I have contacted Logitech again regarding this issue. I have not seen many reviewers reporting this, but I believe this is because most owners only use a Logitech G Mouse, so they do not know the impact on other wireless devices. However, there are a few reviewers who, like me, use different wireless devices and are experiencing the same issue. Edit: I have noticed my Panasonic wireless home phone has had interference for some time now. This wasn't always the case, and If I move away from my desk with the Powerplay, it goes away! It occurred to me that the Powerplay might also impact this phone. Sure enough, if I unplug the Powerplay mouse pad, all my home phone interference disappears! There is a Powerplay Charging Enable option in the G Hub Powerplay options section that will only work with Powerplay Firmware 7.1.11. G Hub will NOT update the Powerplay Firmware through the built-in update process, and you have to do this manually to update the Fireware to 7.1.11 to enable this option! With no help from Logitech support, I think I figured out a fix. You have to use the Logitech POWERPLAY Wireless Charging System Update Tool under downloads for the Powerplay device to actually update the Powerplay Firmware to version 7.1.11 to get the option to disable. Powerplay Charging! You can now disable Powerplay Charging until required, and it will not impact other devices. I am still checking this works and will update later. Good luck.
Fernando López yup but the mouse inbuilt has a fully glass bottom so it will charge 10 times quicker , also my mat is going to charge my wireless keyboard as well (that also has a glass bottom) THE KEY TO BUILDING THIS STUFF IS MAKING THE BOTTUM GLASS
Victor Maziarka This sounds awesome! A video or blog post would be much appreciated, whether that is just showing off the finished project or the build process
I've literally had the same idea about this mousepad pop up in my head one night literally months before I heard about it. My dreams were shattered when I watched an episode of ncix tech news daily....
They should have gone with silicone as material like the *Roccat Hiro* mousepad. Best mousepad i have had and probably ever will have. I see no reason to change it soon. It is sturdy as a beast and combines the speed of plastic and the precision of cloth.
Instead of having a battery inside of the mouse, they should have both the mousepad and the mouse as a set with removable batteries included. The mousepad will power the mouse without the battery.
There should be no health effects (good or bad) from the mousepad's energy field. Things only happen when that radiation is "ionizing" which this mousepad will definitely not give off. Veritasium has a good video explaining this effect.
I noticed you have a radiator behind your table. isn't that a safety issue? and won't your monitor get heated up when you use the radiator? can I put a table in front of my radiator? don't your feet get too warm?
Do you know if PowerPlay will release in Canada? The Canadian LogitechG site conveniently leaves out PowerPlay ads on the site, and fails to mention it as a feature of the new G703 and G903 mice.
$99 isn't that bad considering that their regular large soft mouse pad's go for $40. But I'd probably hold off on this because I'm skeptical about the health effects
Essential review, keep up the good job, what gaming chair is this you're sitting? I have razer mamba and I'm looking to buy G903 and G wireless pro. Are they both very comfortable?
your video is 5 years old now but i had a question. Can you charge 2 mice at the same time? Another question i have is if you can charge 2 mice at the same time can you have 1 paired to the charge pad and the other to its dongle on another PC? If you could answer these questions thank you very much!
Im very curious about getting this mat lol. BUT it's to remove the wires of the mouse and keyboard (Currently own the TKL G915).... but the powerplay has A cord....so I replace the wire of the mouse w the wire of the powerplay.....ITLL BE NO DIFFERENT lol
As far as looks, you are correct. The cord is still there. I guess I would say the difference comes in the feel of the mouse. Very different feel between a cord being attached to the mouse you are moving vs a mouse pad you are not moving.
You just replaced a cable with another cable. Still there are cables on the desk. I would prefer to eliminate them completely. Complete wireless peripherals.
Since when did charging ur mouse at night after few days became such a hassle that u r willing to spend nearly 200$ for it and willing to have a wire on ur desk permanently?
If only this used a non-proprietary charging method. I can't stand the cable drag from wired mice, but my G602 is a bit on the heavy side for a mouse due to the AA battery. Having a lighter lithium ion battery mouse with wireless charging would be a godsend for me.
I just modded my G403 and I put inside it a Qi receiver module so at night I'm placing the mouse on a Qi charging puc and in the morning it has a full battery ... Since the autonomy of the G403 is about 30 hours on a charge there is no way I'll empty it in a single day ... The mod only required like 10 dollars (for the receiver and the charging dock - eBay) ...
The wire is out of the way so you can move the mouse without restrictions and is constantly charging the mouse so you don't have to stop to plug the mouse in and charge it. Less down time, more play time.
I kinda hate the idea of replacing the cable on my mouse with one (another one) on the mouse pad, I have a hole in the middle of my desk to pass my rgb mouse pad and keyboard cables through but I don't like the idea of having power bricks all over my mouse pad
Top news lads, powerplay keyboard is the future. Now instead of putting the wire into your keyboard you put it onto the mat your keyboard is on top of. No more hassle moving your keyboard around.
Now I'm no physicist, but as far as I know the magnetic field generated by the Powerplay mat should not affect your health. Just like light doesn't, which, in reality is just electromagnetic radiation. Light is really just a lower energy variation of gamma rays.
I really love all the vids you guys at Hardware Canucks do, but I see this on almost every youtubers mice/mousepad vids... PLEASE CLEAN YOUR MOUSEPADS BEFORE SHOOTING. Warm water and dishsoap works wonders! Seriously it'll take all those dead skin cells right off! Thank you :)
Practicality comes in play here. Question is, are you willing to pay premium for convenience, or are you going to charge your mouse by yourself. For me, this is great product if which can change mouse market if done right.
well i get that this can be nice if the cable annoy you. but if its for looks this is not much better as there is a big ass battery and a battery on it. plus the cost. just get a mouse bungie, trust me they work GREAT and are A LOT cheaper.
I wonder if you could put this under let's say a extended desk mat and it would still work. Not really a fan of just a mouse pad. Would rather have a pad for my keeb too.
Question: I have a PC and a laptop. I need to use the mouse on BOTH of those computers and I need to flip between them. Normally I use the USB Stick which I can plug in this or that computer. When I use this pad, will the Mouse be connected always where the pad is connected to? Because this would suck.
I just received and have been using the PowerPlay and the G703, and so far for some unknown reason, the mouse pad shows charging with the indication LED on, but when I open the New Logitech G Hub, it shows charging but the percentage continues to drop, even over night just leaving it on the PowerPlay all night... Seems to be not charging through the pad???
The reason it got all the way down to 15% is cause the mousepad wants it to utilize the entire battery and wont charge all the time. Cause if you keep a battery at 100% and keep charging it all the time you will end up damaging the battery causing it to have less power
Another great review! Hi Dmitry Can you test this with say your glass from the side of your pc sitting on the charger with the mouse pad on top of that.... i'd like to know if this type of unit could be built into desktops :)
An extra large extended mouse pad that can act as a wireless charger and receiver for both a wireless mouse and Keyboard combo would be pretty cool.
Waiting for it! :D
Shawn Phillips And phone?
I'm pretty sure Logitech is working on it :D
Yeah just thought about that too :)
Would be but not sure if usb could power both... Maybe a dual usb one?

Also you can tuck away the cable in a way you cannot do with a wired mice (because you need slack). Just drill a hole in your desk and put in a nice cable routing plug, and away goes all cables. Did this for my keyboard already. 5min job, and looks way better than runnig cables across the end of the desk.
I think he is comparing the benefit over using the standard G900 mouse that you occasionally plug in to charge, ie no cable attached most of the time.
There are already mechanical wireless keyboards, though they're Bluetooth driven (the Anne Pro). Just not from "gamin" brands.
I'm actually considering purchasing this right now, I've got the G903 and while it has excellent battery life, I find it a bit of a nuisance every 3 days having to disconnect the cable from the wireless receiver and then insert it into the mouse, it's just hassle I'd rather not have to think about, just wish it wasn't so expensive!!!
did you end up getting the mouse matt and if so have you had any issues or concerns with it?
This is a really cool idea... but I current use two G700s and just rotate them for zero down time. Similarly you can do the same with two G403 or G900 and still cost less then the Powerplay setup
Yo that ad was crazy good man!!!
Good luck.
it also works for the g502 lightspeed
I'm building a mouse pad just like this 0-0 I thought this was my original idea lol apparently not lol
Victor Maziarka Logitech was more quick than you. Logitech wins
Fernando López yup but the mouse inbuilt has a fully glass bottom so it will charge 10 times quicker , also my mat is going to charge my wireless keyboard as well (that also has a glass bottom) THE KEY TO BUILDING THIS STUFF IS MAKING THE BOTTUM GLASS
keep it up mate!
If they sell a whole desk that charges anything on it. That would make sense.
Andrew Peer it would also be nice when you spill your drink
that is a problem
That would be AWESOME :D
It looks cool but I wouldn't get it even if it's cheaper. I prefer my Corsair mousepad a Logitech G502 or G900.
What about the g502 hero wireless? Can I use it on that?
Instead of having a battery inside of the mouse, they should have both the mousepad and the mouse as a set with removable batteries included. The mousepad will power the mouse without the battery.
Drevo makes a bluetooth wireless mech keyboard called the Calibur.
my problem with the razer deathadder is my hands are too small so im buying the g703 tomorrow im so excited!!
There should be no health effects (good or bad) from the mousepad's energy field. Things only happen when that radiation is "ionizing" which this mousepad will definitely not give off. Veritasium has a good video explaining this effect.
when i saw the ad i was like does a paintbrush company really see a market in tech viewers
So mad my original G900 doesn't work, I got it pretty shortly before this was announced :(
I noticed you have a radiator behind your table. isn't that a safety issue? and won't your monitor get heated up when you use the radiator? can I put a table in front of my radiator? don't your feet get too warm?
A mouse got wireless charging before the iPhone, what a time to be alive
It doesn’t when you shut it down it only charges your mouse if it’s on sleep mode on turned fully on
Do you know if PowerPlay will release in Canada?
The Canadian LogitechG site conveniently leaves out PowerPlay ads on the site, and fails to mention it as a feature of the new G703 and G903 mice.
Hold on a second, what wallpaper are you using?! I NEED IT
$99 isn't that bad considering that their regular large soft mouse pad's go for $40. But I'd probably hold off on this because I'm skeptical about the health effects
Ryan C lol what
Wireless charging just works with a coil of wires and a magnet
There are no more health effects than a normal wireless mouse
Essential review, keep up the good job, what gaming chair is this you're sitting?
I have razer mamba and I'm looking to buy G903 and G wireless pro. Are they both very comfortable?
your video is 5 years old now but i had a question. Can you charge 2 mice at the same time? Another question i have is if you can charge 2 mice at the same time can you have 1 paired to the charge pad and the other to its dongle on another PC? If you could answer these questions thank you very much!
The whole mouse pad thing just takes the cable from the mouse though and moves it to the pad so it's not reducing the amount of cables on your desk
Wait. So the charging is slower than the draining while using the mouse?
why don't they make 1 big mat and then both the mouse and keyboard can be wireless??
You just replaced a cable with another cable. Still there are cables on the desk. I would prefer to eliminate them completely. Complete wireless peripherals.
You know that ad was actually really good....
who's ready for that travel vlog
I'd be sold on it if it was a bit larger, hard to want to trade the space my QCK Heavy offers for something like this
what's the point of having a wireless mouse and mousepad when you still have a wire connected to the mousepad
The wire is out of the way so you can move the mouse without restrictions and is constantly charging the mouse so you don't have to stop to plug the mouse in and charge it. Less down time, more play time.
@@Renegade0056 just use a mouse bungee?
What's your sensitivity when playing csgo?
I think he said 800 dpi on previous videos
Just thought that it seems slow, I'm using 800 myself
It's set to grandma.
ARMADA GAMING maybe different ingame settings?
400 dpi 2.0 sensitivity
I kinda hate the idea of replacing the cable on my mouse with one (another one) on the mouse pad, I have a hole in the middle of my desk to pass my rgb mouse pad and keyboard cables through but I don't like the idea of having power bricks all over my mouse pad
Top news lads, powerplay keyboard is the future. Now instead of putting the wire into your keyboard you put it onto the mat your keyboard is on top of. No more hassle moving your keyboard around.
you will still have a cable ran to the mousepad so whats the purpose?
Awesome video man. You rock!
Practicality comes in play here. Question is, are you willing to pay premium for convenience, or are you going to charge your mouse by yourself.
For me, this is great product if which can change mouse market if done right.
Wait does the G Pro Wireless only charge using this pad?
5:49 The health issue is the way you’re playing!
Wireless mechanical Keyboard isn't far away. Check the Anne Pro, Drevo Calibur or Royal Kludge RK61 ;)
well i get that this can be nice if the cable annoy you. but if its for looks this is not much better as there is a big ass battery and a battery on it. plus the cost. just get a mouse bungie, trust me they work GREAT and are A LOT cheaper.
I wonder if you could put this under let's say a extended desk mat and it would still work. Not really a fan of just a mouse pad. Would rather have a pad for my keeb too.
How about Gpro wireless? Is it going to work on the power play?
Question: I have a PC and a laptop. I need to use the mouse on BOTH of those computers and I need to flip between them. Normally I use the USB Stick which I can plug in this or that computer. When I use this pad, will the Mouse be connected always where the pad is connected to? Because this would suck.
If this combined their MX2 mouse with the HyperX SKYN it would be perfect.
The powerplay can be dangerous because of the induction charge ?
I wonder why haven't this technology have a better way to connect like Bluetooth built-in
i am confused. how does it charge over night, did i miss something? If the PC the mat is plugged in to is off?
I just received and have been using the PowerPlay and the G703, and so far for some unknown reason, the mouse pad shows charging with the indication LED on, but when I open the New Logitech G Hub, it shows charging but the percentage continues to drop, even over night just leaving it on the PowerPlay all night... Seems to be not charging through the pad???
The reason it got all the way down to 15% is cause the mousepad wants it to utilize the entire battery and wont charge all the time. Cause if you keep a battery at 100% and keep charging it all the time you will end up damaging the battery causing it to have less power
I've heard reports that it actually does work with the G403 too if you insert it into that one. Can anyone confirm?
can u plug the wireless mouse mat to your keyboards usb thing?
Another great review! Hi Dmitry Can you test this with say your glass from the side of your pc sitting on the charger with the mouse pad on top of that.... i'd like to know if this type of unit could be built into desktops :)
G900 IS AWESOME WIRELESS GAMING MOUSE..... AND THE BATTERY IS AWESOME... NOW G903.. ITS TIME TO BUY AGAIN!!!!
Please review thermaltake versa u21 case. One of the best cases out there.
