One thing to note is that the maximum number of shots is 3600, which at 5 second intervals = 2 minutes of video. If you need more, you will need to use an interval timer and stitch the photos
Should be enough for me
Many thanks
You mention now flicker is introduced on the two modes in the time lapse function setup. I would guess you were at an F-stop less than or equal to 8. If one goes above F8. the blades in the lens work much harder and need to travel further. This is what introduces flicker as the consistency of the lens aperture blades and depending on the quality of the lens manufacturer, it could be introduced at even larger apertures (< f8). Over the years of shooting time lapse with a variety of (interchangeable lens cameras), this is one thing I have noticed that seems to be pretty consistent. It gets worse with kit lenses as they are manufactured pretty inexpensively (hence cheaper price). I bet if you took the 6Dii and shot say at F9 or F11 etc.. you will introduce flicker no doubt. I will find out myself as soon as I get my hands on one. :) Nice shots, love the Syrp products and will still rely on that products time lapse driving (most likely).

So did you manage to check it ? Let’s have a look at F9 or f11 ?!
really useful, thanks!
Interesting about the auto exposure options. But you really should have done a sunrise or sunset sequence to better illustrate the changes. I wonder if the exposure changes would be smooth in that scenario.
Yeah we wish we had that chance to test that but only had limited time with the camera as it was pre-release. We'll have our own arriving shortly though so we'll do some more thorough testing! Thanks
I bet that would not be easy as the time interval would need to change between shots so as to not mess with the aperture or the ISO. In simple terms, I don't think the 6Dii can do ramping automatically. I haven't checked but that would be awesome but doubtful.
This song is epic like "HUMANITY NOW HAS THIS POWER!"
great tip mate!
really curious about your tripod that rotates by itself, can you share the branc and model of it? thaks!
Hey Jose! What you’re looking for is the Genie Mini II - sold by Manfrotto www.manfrotto.com/nz-en/genie-mini-ii-sy0033-0001/
Thanks. I didn't know my camera had this feature.
I'm to happy with my new camera. Thanks again for your video. I just found that time lapse shoot5 menu. Done. Thanks.
Great video !! The format is mov and my samsung is not able to transfer from the camera , do I have to go to the computer import it there and convert it to mp4 and then import it to the samsung phone ? Tried to find something about this but well.....! Kindly Ronnie !
Hello all, I was wondering if there is an internal timelapse option to shoot photos and not video. If not is it possible to use my intervalometer with this camera with one of the side inputs?
I would like yo know What is the device you use yo rotate, that you atach to the Camera. Thanks
Hey David, we're using the Genie Mini in this video syrp.co/nz-en/genie-mini-ii-sy0033-0001/
I tested timelapse mode of 6DM2 for astrophotography. And It works great with that too. But I have a question about shutter actuations.
For instance, I shoot a time-lapse video consisting 1.000 photos. Does it count as only one shutter or not ? I mean time-lapse videos are shooting with electronic shutter on 6DM2, that's why I have a confusion about that.
Are you talking about using the internal timelapse feature on the camera? I believe that it would not count as 1000 shutter actuations but you might want to check that with Canon to be sure
Syrp yeap. It’s all only 1 shutter actuation, just learned it. ✌🏼
Does this use the mechanical or electronic shutter?
Uses electronic shutter
Preciso fazer nascer do sol... Como regular a câmera para a iluminação para não estourar quando clarear?
I've always wondered how to use the internal time lapse feature of cameras with the syrp. We're you not worried about the camera moving during an exposure?
It totally depends on the length of your exposure. It's fine for short, but for longer exposures you may need to try timing the intervals between your camera and motion control gear. Takes a bit of practice to get the timing right but can be done!
Syrp great, thanks for the reply! I'll try that out
no worries, let us know how you go!
I have a Canon EOS 6D Mark II. Looks just like the one in your video. Any idea why I don't have a menu page 5 like yours to make the same selection for time lapse?
I missed the point about being in video mode then go to menu. Figured it out.
are you able to shoot long exposure time lapses? Star time laps?
Yes you are.
What are the mounts your using on the tripod?
Can anyone help me with downloading the canon 6d mark ii time lapses to your phone or mobile device. Why won’t the canon app support time lapse downloading
On Canon cameras you can transfer your photos directly on to your phone wirelessly, so you can quickly post a pick to the gram. If you want to transfer a timelapse, you might have to ask Canon directly.
my menu is not the same as yours and I have EOS 6D Mark II.
I shot a timelapse on my mark ii but it turns out to be choppy. What possibly could be the reason?
There are lots of reasons a time lapse could be choppy, this can be down to it being incorrectly compiled due to a mis-match in frame rates, missing frames due to AF or auto exposure being enabled, missing frames due to image review.
Which one is better option for time lapse.. auto focus or manual focus?
Manual forcus
Hi! Thanks for the useful video ...
Do I need Shutter Link Cable with Genie Mini 1 &/or 2 and Canon 6D M2 and why?
Thanks for the replay!
You need it if you want to trigger the camera via the Genie Mini, because otherwise there is no communication between the devices. However you can set the Genie mini to continuously pan slowly and then set time lapse function in the camera instead. The look you will get is slightly different and you will have more motion blur without using a cable, but it is usually not really noticeable. If shooting astro then we definitely recommend using the cable because you need the device to wait for 30s or more in order to take a long exposure. hope it makes sense!
What is those little black cylinders over the tripod?
Thanks!
Hi there, think you're referring to the Genie Mini? www.syrp.co.nz/products/genie-mini It's a panning motion controller for timelapse, video and panorama.
Does Movie Mode Timelapse use the shutter multiple times (shutter wear)
No its electronic
Where can I get that tripod!/mount!? Pls :)
Hey Reyan! It's been about 5 years so I can't find the exact tripod but these days, we recommend the Manfrotto 055 as a good all-round workhorse for time-lapse www.manfrotto.com/global/055-aluminium-3-section-photo-tripod-with-horizontal-column-mt055xpro3/
@@SyrpLab Thank you! I appreciate the advice!
What application do you use on the iPhone ???
Thanks
That's the old Syrp Genie App, new one is a lot better :)
Canon 6D time lap
I was trying to experiment with taking 30 second shutter speed images but setting the intervals to 3 seconds thinking that it would take 3 seconds in between each exposure not try and shoot every 3 seconds. Also when shooting i try to press the info button to view my shot but it doesn't display anything on the LCD screen even though i have it enabled why is this? Also when you have the camera set to auto expose each frame how does this work? does it change the iso, shutter speed, aperture? do i need to have everything in auto mode? just because if you are shooting a day to night timelapse it just goes dark to the point of being not visible and i'm not sure how to go about fixing it.
great problem - doing timelapse - that you cannot use exposure times than 1/30 sec... that makes it not interesting for every serious timelapse.. :-( as it seen by the flickering water in your water... longer exposure would be nice!!
Did you have your camera settings to manual or auto?
Manual 😀
But if you have the camera set to Manual the auto exposure setting within the time-lapse settings doesn't do anything, its only for when the camera is in one of the auto or semi auto/priority settings? Is that that not correct, thats how I read it in the manual? Just trying to get to the bottom of this as I have a job I need to do a time-lapse. Thanks in advance
@@lostinmusicalspace2480 that's right...and it has to be like this...you put the camera on f11 maybe...than you look at something important in your picture and make it sharp...with the af...than switch of af on the lens...and go
Dude..why my timelapses are 1 sec long when i set it to 300 photos??
Try replicating the same settings in the video and see if that works for you
Will this work for astrophotography ?
Hey Alexis - we didn't specifically test it for astro, but DIYPhotography did and wrote a great article that tells you all about how well it does here: www.diyphotography.net/testing-canon-6d-mark-ii-astrophotography-nightscapes/
Hi, I just got a 6dMark2. Watching your video, you mention at 1:18min about enabling the time lapse movie function under SHOOT5 menu. I've checked on mine and has only up to SHOOT4. Do I have to do something to get the SHOOT5 menu? Useful video. Thank you.
I have the same camera! I use it for video. Ppl say the video is soft. It kind of is, if you're shooting with neutral profile which has sharpness all the way down. But with sharpness at standard it's quite sharp.
Set the Live View shooting/Movie shooting switch to video camera icon
0:38 How do you shot that?
We built a rig specially for this shot - took a bit of work but ended up with a pretty cool effect!
Could you show me how it works please?I am shocked by it.
@@SyrpLab I would also like to know :)
Someone help me , why can't I find 1080p 60fps in my 6d mark ii? I can only find 25 and 50fps
NTSC and PAL mode
PAL mode is 50fps while NTSC is 60fps
500th like
What are the mounts your using on the tripod?
