Awesome you have excellent videos on the tear down of this engine, still running my GP 800 (2000) I bought new no problems but it’s great to know the in & outs of this engine…
Congrats! I know that was a long process! I did a top end on an old Polaris jet ski before. And carb tuning is an art. I still have a few carbureted motorcycles. It sucks to have to take them apart for every adjustment. 😢
Love to hear it. It helped a ton on mine as well. I feel like a guy could constantly fiddle with adjustments to get it just perfect but mine was 95 percent better and had easy, reliable starting, good hole shot and excellent on plane power considering the cc and my weight. Seemed like the sweet spot personally. Your thoughts? Mine would not hole shot on the "factory" settings. But maybe those were jacked up from previous owners. I can't say really.
@@605BOLT I had the same bog you did when I hold the throttle wide open. I also had an issue where I would get up on plain to about 35-40 mph and it would just die and fall on its face than struggle to get it started again and had to constantly pump the throttle to keep it running back to the dock only going about 5 mph. I rebuilt the carbs a few years back because my ski was still for 7 years from previous owner. I ordered the same parts you did from sbt swapped the 1.2 for the 1.5 and springs as well. My high adjustment was 1 turn out and my low adjustment was around 1 1/2 turns out. I changed adjustments to what you set yours in the video 1/2 turn high side 1 3/4 low side. I had it running in the driveway yesterday trying to fine tune the idle still but I’m going to take it out today on the water and see how it performs with the new changes.
@@collinflynn3387 nice. Hope we're on the same path. So frustrating to not find good info. I spose everyone's adjustments vary a little but that part of this project frustrated me for sure.
@@JDemasi oof. I don't remember. Been a hot minute. I don't know as though I ever recorded it. Just did small adjustments and got it dialed in pretty good. Sorry I can't be more help.
@@SleepingGaint hard to say if it ever worked before rebuild. Guy I bought it from rode for 15 mins and blew it up. Then I bought it. So maybe that combo was what killed it. I have no idea.
Great work! 55mph, way faster than I was expecting! What an awesome end to a tough project!
A grind for sure. Glad I was able to get half a summer out of it.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope you never need the videos but I'm grateful for your time watching them!
fantastic info and so helpful to see how you resolved the carb issue. Thanks
Thank you for the kind words! It was a little bit of a challenging issue having to take the carbs off each time but much better now.
Great video dude. We need to get them out a few more times b4 season end
Thanks! And for sure! Thanks for the shots!

I was getting pretty tired of it. You're right. Thanks for watching the videos!
Awsome video man helped me fix adjustment on my carbs

Do you remember what you set the hi and low screws after changing to 1.5 seat?

Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're welcome.
So the 1.2 needle worked before the rebuild. Why not after the rebuild?

@@605BOLT gotcha, I didn’t watch the first video yet so I didn’t know the history of the machine. Great job.
@SleepingGaint no worries. I can't explain it's back history. Only how it worked going forward haha
