- The PING G425 drivers offer exceptional distance and forgiveness, performing extremely well in fittings so far in 2021. However, many golfers wonder which golf shaft is best to pair with a PING G425 driver.
In this video, 2nd Swing master fitter Thomas Campbell breaks down the PING G425 driver shaft options and tests each of them using Trackman technology to identify the similarities and differences.

Great comparison and well put together 👍
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed!
So Thomas gushed about eh Alidila Rogue shaft being on center but the Ping Tour 65 was also on center, dispersion circle was tighter and carry and total distance were pretty much the same on those two. Kudos for Ping on their stock shaft!
I got fitted in the Tensei Orange 50 Stiff. Club head speed 112-114 carry 280-285 with 2400 spin. I’ve played X flex like forever until the shaft. Wild how much fitting matters
Great video - very useful
Great video, Do a test with tour edge C721 that you absolutely bombed.. !!
I just got fitted for the G425 Max. Ended up configuring it with 9 degree loft and Aldila Rogue White 70g stiff shaft. Club speed 105 mph, carry 245-250 yards, total 265-270 yards. Can't wait to take it out on the course in a few days!
Congratulations, what's your handicap
The question you didn't answer is based on these numbers which one you choosing? I have Tour 65 in my G410P but didn't have the luxury of testing options much less on a monitor. Happy with my choice after seeing this as I generally have no issue with generating height and spin. Maybe the Rogue would have been more optimal on good strikes but not much in it. Thanks for the insight!
The ping Alta CB slate is 1/2 inch longer-thus the speed increase
I never imagine I can swing a ping tour shaft x 65gram, more consistent, more stable on contact,
Better than my existing alta cb 55gram stift, tks guys
Keep up the good work, these guys knew what they talking.
Great video! Please consider the same video for TSi3 and Epic lineups!
We will add this to our video list! Thank you for watching Graham!
Great comparision - Your swing is far too good to really highlight a winner though! Love the videos keep it up.
Would u recommend the lst with a higher trajectory shaft or the max with the rogue?
So how does the numbers change based on club speed?
Just curious, why did you guys leave out testing the Ping Tour 75 shaft? Would have been nice to see the Trackman comparison between the Rogue White 70 and Ping Tour 75.
Great comparison - would have been good too see an average golfer swing speed also but great video
Thank you for watching! We will get more of Jackie on our channel!
I’d like to see a shaft comparison with a 12 deg head and 80 mph swing speed
Nice video, I went with the G425 max myself with the Tensei orange X. It seemed like the best overall shaft, longer than the Tour and straighter than the alta CB.
Very nice choice! Thank you for watching!
So how do you guys fit a player without that person hitting shots??? Thanks
@@brodygoalie no I did my own fitting, had similar results though I'm not a Cyborg like Thomas and miss once in a while.
Was this a regular flex shaft? What flex?
@@mikey9 extra stiff, I have quite moderate quick tempo and highish swing speed (115-118).
Were all of these shafts a Regular Flex ?? If not could you Please let us know flex for each !
Great Job on the Review!
1. more question = Were these shaft Premium aftermarket shaft or Factory Ping proprietary ?
When I hit them all they were stiff flex for testing, with the exception being Alta Distanza which was regular flex (no stiff available). These came directly from PING so most likely Factory Ping proprietary specifically made for PING G425 - Thomas
Ck Orange was your best dispersion.
Dispersion is very important. If you can find a shaft that helps you hit it straight even if it's not the longest it's worth considering - Thomas
Tried out these shafts as well and the one that suited me best was the Ping Tour 65 Stiff flex and this was a shaft that I wasn’t even going to test because it had been around so long. I got a little extra distance from the Tensei Orange but the dispersion of the Tour 65 was miles better. Just goes to show you must get fit!
PS - I believe all of Pings stock offerings are counterbalanced
you think the ping tour 65 stiff is counterbalanced?
@@jeffreykatz1330 Ping Tour is not CB.
@@adambarnes4191 ok
@@jeffreykatz1330 the Ping Tour is made by UST and its basically their elements chrome with a ping paintjob. Quality stock shaft. I play a 65x in my G400Max.
@@adambarnes4191 can anyone tell me if I was to shorten the cb alta 55 shaft that has weight added in the butt would like mess the shaft up weightwise?
After looking into the numbers, we found out you're good. 🤣
I wish they would cover the shafts or something because sometime I think better players just like to say they like tour/ pro equipment better. I feel like it’s an ego thing like 90% of the time that’s done subconsciously…. Just my opinion from what I see from “good”/“better” players.
Interesting video , which would be best for 90mph swing speed?
I'd say the Alta CB would be where to start, though go hit some yourself . The g425 is a great driver.
at the beginning of the video you mention 2 tensei av orange shafts of different weight. Can you confirm which of the two did you finally used in the video? was it the 55gr or 65gr. Thanks!
I was also going to ask this same question.
I had my first club fitting. I like the Ping G425 max , AltaCb regular shaft. I like the feel but I didn’t slice the ball.
How did it compare to the tensei orange?
So you didn’t hit the ping tour 75x a single time In this video? Where does the 75x fit in?
Finally got my G425 alta cb 55. Had to order it online as it was going to take weeks to get one through a retailer. I wasn’t able to get anything but the 55. My club speed is 110, ball speed 145, so I don’t think it is the right shaft for me. I’m 53 and happy with club speed, but think I could bring up ball speed with a heavier shaft. Going to go and get fitted for the right one. Any suggestions for what I should look at? Wish I could generate ball speed like you.
Thx for the video, gave me some great insight.
Are you striking it relatively in the middle? That efficiency is around 1.32 which is not great. Shaft change may help with launch angle, spin and dispersion but generally ball speed is not massively changed.
No I’m not hitting it in the middle consistently.
@@davezalinko1354 Is your attack angle too steep/negative? You’re ballspeed could be higher with better efficiency. 1.40 or better would be common with a middle strike on a driver.
is the Ping in the bag Thomas?
Thomas currently plays the Epic Max LS!
Maaaate, that accent is killing me. Are you an Aussie who has spent too much time in the US? BTW, awesome test.
Thomas is from New Zealand! Thank you for watching!
Would a steal shaft go straight in comparison 🤔
Com'on man...Alta Distanza doesn't come in a X-flex and your swinging it 112.9 avg. of course its going to be wippy. the guy or gal looking at this is swinging 75-90 mph at the most. show me a 40g TX or X-flex and lets see how that compares....
110mph club speed and your still carrying it 292? WTF i swing 115-117 and that’s my carry with the same Ping.
His smash factor is almost perfect at 1.49. so he consistently hits the middle of the face which probably explains why he can carry it so far.
