That's what is great about Coheed's lyrics - the differing interpretations. This was actually about a soldier defying a general's order in war to kill innocent people and then being put to death for his defiance, and reflecting on it in eternal purgatory called "The Keywork."
For me it will always be a very, VERY idealized interpretation of Nietsche's "Lion". “Here the spirit becomes a lion who would conquer his freedom and be master… Who is the great dragon whom the spirit will no longer call lord and go? ‘Thou shalt’ is the name of the great dragon. But the spirit of the lion says, ‘I will.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra - A Book For All And None And truly, isn't that applied to everything? This song is the fourth Entity, right? And as far as I know, an "entity" isn't just somebody. Both ontologically and epistemologically, an entity is the very idea or notion of what is the self or an individual, which is the same as saying that we are all an entity. So the way I've always interpreted this, is that anyone possessing the lion's will can be part of the 4th entity; anyone with that force of will constitutes what Sentry the Defiant is. So it might as well be a soldier in a canonical story, but it can also be so much more than that alone. I understand all of these lyrics can be traced back to the Armory Wars and what is explained in there about the "The Keywork", but honestly, I didn't became a fan of these songs for that story.
no she actually said his name the correct way lol. but no coheed is a amazing band they have gotten me through so much stuff in my life, they just have this way of making a album that i can relate to the songs and the meanings behind them between the sci-fi comic story behind the song and the personal stuff happening in the lead singer claudios life at the time. its really cool this world and the fan base is just freaking awesome, not saying theres not a few bad apples but for the most part on the whole just really nice people its like one really big family
Vin and Sori, I found you months ago from home page recommendations due to the political shit i watch on RUclips, Jimmy Dore, etc, but today ive been diving back into an old obsession of Coheed and Cambria, and to find YOU two reviewing one of my FAVORITE Coheed songs, I lost it in the best way. Keep on keeping on fam.
