Yeah he is talking about his love of and reluctance to tour and how it keeps him from his family. The daily grind, the stasis that it causes and the desire to be able to experience both. But he does it for his family so they can be safe and happy, he sacrifices but wants to stay.
I also think he was thinking of leaving the band at the time, because of the reception of color before the sun.
