Anathema really made a journey through their history, if you hear the first records they are ultra gloomy atmosphere, depressing lyrics and everything seemed hopeless to them, but from we are here cause we are here, they dump the more metal aspects of their sound, brightness and hope became more and more present, both in music and lyrics....still love them.
Anathema, started as a doom death band. Ended up as one of the best prog bands in the last 20 years. The album 'We're here because we're here' is a masterpiece. Id love you to react to that whole album.
@@fancotasargentina8165 Covid confinements appeared midway their tour in Europe and on that moment it was already hard to postpone. several shows were delayed but effectively never done due to continuous uncertainty on future dates. It might have been harsh financially I would guess.
@@fancotasargentina8165 this was posted by them on 22 September 2020: Dear Anathema Family, This year is one like no others. We’ve all everyone one of you included faced unpredictable challenges, which impacted both our professional and personal situations. In this hardest of times, events over this year have left us with no option but to go on an indefinite hiatus. As individuals it is now time to pursue other paths in life. We are beyond grateful for everyone’s support over the years. There is no end to the love and respect we have for our fans for giving us the best years of our lives. The generosity you all showed following the unexpected cancellation of our tour will always stay with us. We could never have anticipated how this year would turn out. Many, many thanks Anathema. Like I said. I hope they can regroup at some point when it will be financially possible for them. Huge loss for us all if they aren’t able to carry on making music as Anathema.
Oh they /Anathema/have a tons great songs in so much different ways . I love them so much from the first EP to the last album . They played in my hometown that was the gig of my life .
Anathema used to be a death-doom band, they developed into prog, alternative, atmospheric rock. They defy genres for the most part, but what they preserved throughout their years and evolution is consistency, emotion, atmosphere and terrific songwriting. And yes, I always saw this song as being for the Cavanagh brothers' mother (the frontman, the guitarist and the bassist).
I believe the Cavanaghs' mother died of cancer and it affected them for many years which is reflected in Anathema's body of work. Basically all their songs could be about her, the loss of her and how they dealt or didn't with it. Up to and including the "Alternative 4" album Duncan Peterson was cowriter of many of their classic songs. He left to form Antimatter with Mick Moss, which I also highly recommend.
This was the song I requested thanks to middle earth from the EU. Took about 3 to 4 years but it finally got done. I can somewhat relate to this song from a failed relationship about 22 years ago. It's the main reason why it's my favorite by them. Thanks for doing this.
This band was almost all siblings :D Three brothers, two of them (bassist and vocalist) are twins. And then the drummer and the female vocalist are brother and sister.
Anathema is a very underrated band. The band's style gradually shifted from death doom metal to progressive rock. Recent albums are strongly influenced by Pink Floyd. Together with two other British bands: Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride, Anathema is considered one of the founders of the death doom metal style. You should definitely listen to their songs (The Kingdom, A Dying Wish, The Silent Enigma, Restless Oblivion, etc) from their early albums
They never cared about the genre. They made music they love which was meaningful lyrically and god damn very emotional. Not metal bands makes me more emotional than Anathema.
Anathema is my all time favorite band. Their music got me through my worst depression back in 2011. Heartbroken the band is no more.
"We Are Here Because We Are Here" is a life changing spiritual experience. I wish I would go back and experience it for the first time.
I second that mate. They have been with me for the past 21 years.
My all time favorite without doubt and I am heartbroken with that sudden end.
Most underrated band ever
There's so much emotion in their songs and they're master of songwriting
One last goodbye is also about their mother but don't click on it belive me you can't stop crying
They're not underrated.

Love all their albums. Agreed they have a variety of sounds. This song I think is the type of song they are best at
Anathema is one of the. Best bands ever
My favorite. I'm a black metal guy but these guys are my musical water.

Phenomenal fantastics
I saw this band live twice in the UK, easily the best live performance I have seen.
Lee Douglas's voice just soars so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Have some of the best songs which pull on the heart strings. I hope they can regroup and get back together as a band.
They split?
@@fancotasargentina8165 Just on hiatus I think. Damn Covid...

Legendary band.
This song ALWAYS breaks me 😓
I love Anathema, especially the old one but this always gets me.
Check out the old songs of Anathema like: Restless oblivion, Sleepless.

Was a Great Review thank you for the request!

I am really impressed that you came by Anathema. They are one of the most underrated bands ever ❤️
For a different mood of the band, I should recommend the songs Regret, Hope (music by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd), Eternity or The Beloved
One of my favourite band ever... I'm so glad you guys did this video

Nice react 👏🏻, excellent song and live performance
You should definitely check Lost song 1, 2, 3 parts
Can you please react to the following Anathema songs - "We, the Gods", "The Silent Enigma", "Eternity Part 1", "Alternative 4"?
They never cared about the genre. They made music they love which was meaningful lyrically and god damn very emotional. Not metal bands makes me more emotional than Anathema.
Nothing sounds like Christian Rock, Christian Rock sounds like everything else. 😉
the power of music :) and the great anatherma ^^
The Song is about the end of a Relationship, Part 1 His feelings, Part 2 Her feelings.
Can you please do "The Parchment" by Iron Maiden. Musicianship on another level and pretty keen to see Vin dissect the lyrics....
Everything!!
The Silent Enigma (album)... is a good start of their art and in their tear was/is bad Tiamat-Gaia album
Liverpool scouse in the House.
It's about a couple breaking up. She wants different things to him. That's all there is to it.
Lee Douglas is the female singer.
Great song but all I can think as I watch this video is, “Damn, that band spent some bucks producing that show!”
React to Anathema - the Lost song 1 and 2
RIP Mandi
Not their best to be introduced to, but it’s still a decent song..
youre so cute
🤢🤮
