Anathema really is a family story. The two guitarists and the bassist are brothers : Vinny (the main singer), Danny and Jamie Cavanagh. The drummer and the female singer are brother and sister too, John and Lee Douglas. Their music is highly cathartic, for them and for their audience. 90% of their fans will tell you that their music helped pull them out of depression. Oh, and great reaction btw ^^' It's always nice to see people try new stuff they wouldn't encounter otherwise.
I saw Anathema live years ago in Brighton in England and they were amazing. They were Liverpool’s little well kept secret. Their earliest stuff was a lot more heavier than what you just listen to which is a lot more progressive.

Anathema has songs so perfect that they touch the soul, just to mention a few: are you there?, dreaming light, untouchable part 1 and 2, the Lost Song Part 1 and 2... The Weather Systems album is a masterpiece.
One Last Goodbye. Probably (for sure) the most beautiful song about lost love of all time. Lost Control. The most haunting song about loneliness, sorrow and depression of all time. Forgotten Hopes, Angelica, Parisien Moonlight, J'ai Fait une Promesse, Springfield... Anathema is a never ending of amazing songs. AMAZING SONGS!! And I could say dozens more lol
Anathema is a great band that doesn't get enough love. I liked them in their doom metal days and I quite like some of their recent music. They have a live concert here on RUclips titled "Anathema Live in Plovdiv Bulgaria Universal Concert Ancient Theatre 2012 DVD" and there are a handful of songs I would almost guarantee you will enjoy. "Lightning Song" is extremely good as are "Thin Air" "Dreaming Light" which is my wife and my song...lol. "The Storm Before the Calm" is fantastic, "The Beginning and the End" "A Simple Mistake" and "Flying" are great. One more I would suggest is "Internal Landscapes" is another favorite of my own. It's a song about life after death.

I didn't know of them. Great sound and the orchestra always enhances a performance.
If you decide to dig deeper, then start with the "Weather Systems" album. This song is the opener for that album.
